That combination that worked so well went right out of the window. They lost the aspect of the show that made it so wonderful. Seth made season 1 great with his one-liners and comic timing. But season 2 lost that and never had any real warmth. The writers were replaced with monkeys or something because nothing felt natural. Josh Swartz said in an interview on the season 1 dvd that they had nothing left for season 2 because they packed so much into season 1. Sadly, I think he wasn't joking.
The O.C. had a major dip in quality from season 1 to 2. So much so that it lost something like 3 million viewers between the end of season 1 and 2. Season 1 had a great combination of hilarity and drama tinged with just enough darkness. It was a great balance. Sadly, season 2 became the season where nobody was happy. Sandy and Kirsten fought constantly, Kirsten became an alcoholic, Sandy's ex-fiance came back and was a terrorist, none of the new kids were any good except Olivia Wilde.
I dont know what it is but every time I watch this scene, it makes me breathless. Seriously, breath taking moment here. I still dont get it why they stopped this show and why they killed Marissa. It could still go on because of Ryan & Marissa. One of the greatest things ever, The O.C.

Loved this show. I think season 4 was my favorite. I liked marissa as a character but I liked her better when she and Ryan were just friends. Taylor made Ryan alive again. She annoyed the hell out of him and drove him absolutely insane. and she had a never ending courage and passion for life that Marissa didn't have.
OC season 4 was one of the worst things I've ever watched. The first season was amazing, loved every minute of it. Season 2 and 3 were great, but no way near as good as season 1.
I watched the show the front to back but it got phoney and super phoney after they killed off marissa, not that she carried the show but like the were trying to fill in the gap that was left between her and ryan.
Ugh this make me want to cry. Such an amazing show. I feel so emotionally invested in the characters. WHHYYYY can't the OC still be on. I miss it so much and hate knowing I'll never see a new episode again:'(
can't expect a show to last too long after they kill off one of the main characters, they didnt have to kill her she could have went on the boat. I mean look at one tree hill, lucas and peyton, two of the MAIN characters, left the show, they didnt die they just moved and the show is lasting until its 9th season just fine. Ryan and Marissa didnt have to end up together, brooke and lucas didnt. i think this show could have gone on a lot longer if they didnt kill marissa and if it wasnt on fox

The first and second season were the best in my opinion. Third season and fourth season fell flat for me. But one person said something to me that was true that the fourth season was different from the rest. The finale is sad. Especially the parts when Ryan went into the house, and they start showing memories. Sad. Good show.

It was so sad to see the Cohen house destroyed! The finale was beautiful. it showed how the characters ended up in the present and future. I'll always love this show.
I love the O.C & I think this was the perfect way to end it. It was very emotional when Ryan walks into the house and remembers all the good memories. I'm re-watching season 1 now. It just goes to show how good it is :)
maybe it would have been different, if the fans would have asked themself, if marissa really is the ONLY reason for them to watch 'the oc', because after 3 seasons you can't tell anyone anymore that you watch it just because of her. that's so ridiculous. otherwise you'd have cancelled it from your list after one season.
the show IMO didn't get worse when marissa left, the show got worse BECAUSE of marissa. you really, really have to like her to be okay with that stupid stuff she, especially in s3 (it was over the top) with the drugs, the alc and volchok, did. i personally think that season 4 is the best, because it contains so much heartwarming and touching moments, great stories, great couples (taylor & ryan? loved it!) and it shows that it could have totally worked without marissa for more than 1 season.
I would have liked to have Ryan to have smiled at the very end. I would have preferred Julie to have gotten back together with Jimmy after Marissa's death. Oh well.
Does anyone think Ben Mackenzie just reminds you a tiny bit of Michael J. Fox(x?) No? Just me? Okay. I loved the flashback part and the end when he helped that kid like Sandy helped him. :)
The OC, is my life. I love it with all my heart, 3 years later, i still watch it. i've been re-watching season 4 (only to start again on season 1 soon,) and the finale still makes me cry. It's true, the show got worse after Marissa died, but it was still amazing. The ending, when the music starts, is beautiful. Everything is great, Sandy a law teacher, Seth&summer married, Sophie's at the wedding! Kaitlin in college, Julie graduating, everything. Dear The OC, thank you for the memories.

The first and second season were the best in my opinion. Third season and fourth season fell flat for me. But one person said something to me that was true that the fourth season was different from the rest. The finale is sad. Especially the parts when Ryan went into the house, and they start showing memories. Sad. Good show.

Everything except Katelyn going to Coledge and being a seemingly great student isok. This show was really amazing! They should have made a spin-off series though. Like Seth and Summer married and living together and their life stories etc. It would've been great.

maybe it would have been different, if the fans would have asked themself, if marissa really is the ONLY reason for them to watch 'the oc', because after 3 seasons you can't tell anyone anymore that you watch it just because of her. that's so ridiculous. otherwise you'd have cancelled it from your list after one season.

the show IMO didn't get worse when marissa left, the show got worse BECAUSE of marissa. you really, really have to like her to be okay with that stupid stuff she, especially in s3 (it was over the top) with the drugs, the alc and volchok, did. i personally think that season 4 is the best, because it contains so much heartwarming and touching moments, great stories, great couples (taylor & ryan? loved it!) and it shows that it could have totally worked without marissa for more than 1 season.

The OC, is my life. I love it with all my heart, 3 years later, i still watch it. i've been re-watching season 4 (only to start again on season 1 soon,) and the finale still makes me cry. It's true, the show got worse after Marissa died, but it was still amazing. The ending, when the music starts, is beautiful. Everything is great, Sandy a law teacher, Seth&summer married, Sophie's at the wedding! Kaitlin in college, Julie graduating, everything. Dear The OC, thank you for the memories.
