  • New Yorkers are total idiots, that's why they do it the unfair an dangerous way.

  • hahah! that was great... who were the nincompoops that put that event together? You're the only sane one in the entire bunch! I just got started over here in Thailand - climbing stairs - 4 yrs ago. I do the 1,256 step climb almost daily. Have some fast times. Will make 2012 my year to break the top 100 best in the world. That's the goal anyway. You're welcome to come to my site - GoUpIt (com) and log some of your workouts. Cheers man! Vern

  • still the greatest race, done it 17 times

  • Running of the humans.

  • This is dangerous!

  • Yeah time trial would be much better - send them off at minute intervals. There would still be some overtakes but not this huge crowd where not everybody can go their fastest because of people in the way.

  • crazy , no room ,no air , no point.

  • the race directors should be fired for something like this, they are just asking for a stampede every year with that setup.

  • That's comepletely retarded. Who would make stair racing a mass start event?!? It's just asking for injuries and accidents like this.

  • What a barbarity! It is a miracle that noone died... What a stupid race... Why did they not chip time it?

  • @aristotelis67 i think u got a point here thats madness

  • its like trying to get on the subway at rush hour!!! =D

  • After watching this video, i'm not going to join any stairs climbing competition!

  • No kidding, what a joke. Chip time it and see who is the best, let each climber go 1r-30 seconds apart with a chip and lets see who is the best then, pushing your way is not fair and obviously people at the back have no advantage. I climbed the cn tower and came in 4th overall last year, and am looking to race internationally soon

  • Why not have everyone go individually and time them?

  • 2:12 great green tee. congrats on being 16th. obviously being so far behind at the start kept you from finishing higher up.

  • Why not just do it using the time-trial method, like the Sears Tower race?

  • everybody held up by some elderly woman hobbling up the fking stairs.

  • No, don't spread them out. This way much more interesting, not just another stair race. this is about being a New Yorker. LOL

  • I would do the race one at the time during a whole day. One runner would start the race every 5 minutes. Race to the top. Best time wins. Qualification rounds to choose who will race.

  • I liked your video; shows the organisation is not right. The run-up should be against time only, let the runners start in small groups, they have chips, so in the end the winner is who has the fastest time! WHY DON'T THEY DO IT THAT WAY?

  • It looks Fun!

  • Joke of a "race"! I had a friend who made it in and wasn't seeded so couldn't get a decent startline spot and was trapped for 15 flights, then heavy traffic. Make it fair! Open qualifying races to public (not just firemen, police, EMT... as my local qualifier was!) let 10 times as many people race, let one racer go every 15 seconds, then you'll have a clue as to who is best!!!!!

Want KING of the HILL???? Try Mt. Fuji Climbing Race (Fujisan Tozando Kyoso) 10,000ft gain in 13 miles!!!!

  • how can this even be fair with a start like that? needs to be done in waves for it to work. i have my first stair climb race in two weeks and hope i dont die at the starting line haha

  • pretty funny

  • Once you get going on the Stairs, who sees anything ? Meaning isnt it easy someone can just push or trip you and essentially cheat their way up and who would know ? Considering how Ruthless some of these guys might be as evidenced by the video, how often does that happen

  • Unbelievable, How can the Promoters of this Event Allow it to start so unorganized so that its actually Dangerous and anyone could easily get trampeled on and Injured ? That is Ridiculous No excuse for that. Considering all that Insanity, Tim had an Incredible Performance ! This guy is an Amazing Example of the Promise of Vegan Raw Food.

  • That was awful. :-(

  • Looks like a recipe for disaster. I think I saw this scene in Towering Inferno. It would make more sense to let people go in groups of 5 or so and clock individual times to be fair.
