The wilderness starts 2 squares after the wall. The death emote stalls the running, sort of like vengeance, or hula hoop emote. Your character seems to be in one place, but is actually further away than it seems. The guy here seems to have died just a square before the safe zone, but in reality the stalling death emote left him in the safe zone. This effect can be observed with having someone follow someone else casting vengeance and clicking across the minimap the person follows backwards ahead
