  • nice video..thanks for sharing!

  • The video was Beck's idea.

  • Well I guess I'll be the one to say it. This video featured Pancake Astronaut. That improves it a considerable amount.

  • J'aime trop ce clip <3

  • the shirt at 2:20 :o

  • This video is so trippy. I love it.

  • lalala, a co to za smok w wannie

  • thats an awesome guitar! anyone know the make and model/year? looks a bit like a 60's gibson....

  • La mélodie est tout simplement sublime! :) ce qui n'enlève rien à la qualité du chant évidement!

  • superbe j'adore !!!!!!

  • what does the music video mean? does it have meaning?

  • She nearly died two years ago so the main meaning would be that shes not ready to die hence heaven can wait!

  • What would she have to sing in French ? Her mother is English, so English is her mothertongue too.

  • She actually has 2 mothertongues as her dad was French speaking!Shes always been fluent in both idiomas, both languages and sings in both languages. Her first album, back in the 80's is sung in French with some bits in English.

  • Can someone explain to me why she doesn't sing in french? anybody knows? just curious!

  • she sings both if you look at her cd she does sing in french an a few other songs.

  • @flavmondi. French is a beautiful language as well as Italian and Spanish but English today is capable to reaching every heart. If you want to send a significant message to the world you do it in English. It is like Latin in the time of Jesus

  • best. music video. ever. (although she should have named the song something different, there's 2 many songs called this.)

  • Song ...Yes I said this is a song...Love it!! Sort of has a George Martin edge to it....Music that has a Beatlesque sound means music is finding its roots again...It's called originality...Charlotte ..you have a true voice...Beck is superb...Could Lou Reed have fit in there too?? Input please

  • is it wierd that i thought she was feist? they look, sound so similar. and a song with beck sounds so incredibly awesome it should be done

  • @bigpimpdaddy69 wow. finaaly where i belong, with ppl who kno music i kno!!

  • wow it´s so funny and intelligent at the same time, very good

  • If you appreciate Sad Pop piano Ballad and Super 8 movie, I invite you to watch my video, Have a nice day !!

  • i adore the woman and this is fine and what it is: Aimee Mann doing Rubber Soul...

  • Sorry, love the song, hate these supposedly "arresting" images. Pseudo-art ain't never as good as a great pop song. IRM is the first masterpiece of the Teens btw.

  • is that beck mongolian chopsquad?

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg is the French Jeniffer Aniston =}

  • absolutely not

  • Wonderful!

Beck has so many amazing outfits, whoa!

  • Belíssima canção, lembra muito as músicas dos Beatles, nota 1000

  • Piękne.

  • niiiiiice

  • wow, so random.

I didn't know Charlotte sang, too. this reminds me a bit of Elliott Smith.

  • The new album has so much Syd Barrett in it (plus a bit of T.Rex) that the video makes absolute sense. It's French through an English/Yank filter. Only the French really know how it feels to be avant garde! Lovely.

  • I ♥ IT

  • I really dig the new album. This video reminds me of old 90s grunge rock vids: a bunch of weird stuff that makes no sense. Or maybe it does? I don't know.

  • boa fotografia!

  • Adorei, genial!

  • de fato uma ótima musica, chega dessas bandinhas nx zero, cine

ou megaomaniacos que nem a lady gaga

    kkkk

  • evet ben dogru kisiyim. Bul beni

  • nimete saygi kalmamis!

  • tamam tamam sustuuuum :)

  • Zajebisty numer !!!

  • greattttttttttttttttttt

  • Homunculus?!

  • to tragoudaki wraio pantws! Xa!

  • She looks gorgeous here, but she can look horrible sometimes.

  • Beck .........silent jenius

  • crazy over this song. and video

  • Iron maiden one is better

  • Fantastico!!!

  • This song and video give me weird eerie yet comfortable feelings. Like, the kind of feelings you get when you think about your childhood. I definitely get pangs of familiarity from the late 70's or early 80's when I watch or listen to this. It's quite soothing, and yet at the same time it makes me wish I'd done more to enjoy my time back then or could relive it. Very odd. Spooky, but beautiful.

  • sac de couchage beige/brun

  • LMAO!!! xD

  • I EAT THAT STUFF!!! 1:48

    NO! lol 1:26

I understand nothing of this video but it did make me laugh lol

  • decent video

too bad the director ripped a lot of the imagery and scenes from this from other artists and photographers

  • I LOVE flying AXE!

  • i love it. j adore. x x x

  • More like Beck featuring Charlotte. So like her mum.

  • @bgudmundsson you're supposed to try hard

  • granted. but it's supposed to appear effortless. and it doesn't here. trying too hard to be hip never looks good.

  • j'adore ,quelle voix envoutante !

  • Sounds like Beck should have just made Modern Guilt into a double album...

  • Charlotte gainsbourgs chin.

Also, beck did all the songs.

  • beck rules, he's the man!!!!!!

  • What a great clip and off course touching song......Lots of 60*ies in it! Thank you for sharing* Merci.....

  • It's a surealist video but it s great!

  • what the fuck is in that bathtub...and is that George Lopez fleeing from that axe?

  • man in cereal bath - pretty cool :)))

  • Alizee

  • i would have loved to be on the brainstorming team for this video haha

  • Glad to see this. This song's been on my good conscience since i bought the cd last month : now i see the best video i've seen in tears. God! she's beautiful!

  • One great cut from a terrific album. What a combination of talents.

  • =) jojo

  • =) jo!!!!

  • fuckin awsome 10/10 Beck my master !

  • This both sounds like a Beck song and looks like a Beck video... which I guess is a good thing?

  • Beck straight murders this track. The frenchy is pretty decent too. USA > FRANCE

  • Is "murders" used as a positive adjective?

  • @miistercrayon Positive verb as in Beck killed it, nailed it, was en fuego on it.

  • @razrsabr whats with the this country is better than that country snuff =/

  • @Toastpolice Your Mom > Your Dad ... Happy?

  • @razrsabr quite so =]

  • Fancy video for an average song. She should make commercials or something.

  • such an art of music :)

  • FANTASTIC!

  • sick! : D

  • beck looks like a bum in some parts

  • Beautiful.

  • Where does BECK get those blazers!?

  • a dream kept in my wild desire world

  • Bu kadını bir yerden tanıyorum. I'm not there (Bob Dylan) :)

  • muy good

  • absolutely hypnotizing.

  • fantastico !!! 10/10

  • to drown the dregs of the world?

  • Adorable.

  • 2:04 makes me bit scary (:

  • beautifull vido ok photos great.....artist super

  • Great song and it is really remembering the 60 with the horns. Baf Tjink in the drums;-) Peut ëtre Axelle Red (1993) ou vous savez dans la coeur.

  • for max irony, the guy in the spongebob costume really should have tackled the cop violently

  • it's funny how nothing makes sense and i can't stop watching

  • beautiful girl.

    inspires me

  • I like the American version (April March) better. This is just a Beck song with her singing. She's on Letterman Tomorrow night.

  • I went to a lecture that the director was giving. Said he got the idea from a number of random pictures on the internet.

  • Singing in france would be more charming.

  • @PanzerErwin you mean french?

  • She is so amazing! I love her in I'm Not There!

  • It's ok, but her album with Air ("5:55)" is 10000 times better. Give it a listen.

  • that album was garbage compared to this. all lifeless love stories, with Air doing a half-ass job at production.

  • I thought beck produced the whole lot.

  • yes, but Air did the first album. even though i like Air, i think beck did a better job, and this album is better.

  • kinda weird

  • BEST VIDEO EVER!

  • @RontschDaPontsch i totally agree!

  • love the song and now love the video

  • i <3 this song.

  • I love this

  • Each shot is so dense, you can't see everything in just one viewing. Now that people often watch and re-watch videos many times it is good to see a music video that can hold up to multiple viewings

  • @anmweber

You can be right at certain age nowadays, but I still hold on my ears to hear the music, and the video is just *a bonus* for me to satisfy my choice of loving the song, a little older as you know!

  • Great Song! I hear it often on the radio while working in Belgium! And what an amazing *funny* clip.... She is so beautiful and with that low *alt* voice. Original sound and back to 2009-2010. Innovative and a little bit in this song goes to her father Serge and of course to Jane Birkin! Funny horns in combination with acoustic guitars (a little bit *60 feelings in it!). Great and original song : what a pity it is such a short one...only 2:40!! But anyway thank you for sharing!

  • Charlotte Gainsbourg is a very very very pretty charming woman

I simply fell in love with this song !

  • song is great and this is the best music video i have ever witnessed

  • I heard this song on the current this morning, I fell in love.

  • Charlotte's so fucking dreamy...

  • Recently there seems to be a movement in indie photography that puts an emphasis on content and composition, while relaxing the demand for a sharp image with correct colors. These photos can often be very strange. I think the premise of this video is, we have all these weird photos. What did the actual scene look like? What did the photographer see? What if he had a video camera instead of a point and shoot? It's very cool, and it's a great video, but they should have given credit where due.

  • William Hundley

  • heaven can wait, but hell's too far ago.

  • THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD!!!!!

  • Keith Schofie, biggest hack on the planet at the moment. Great job!

Charlotte, way to suck and not make good on his mistake and include the artists of the various art work he is ripping off in YOUR video.

You realize you have a chance to come out of this not looking like a jackass, right?

Derivatives are still copyright infringement and an insult to the people that inspire you to mimic them.

  • All art is derivative. Every artist is inspired by other artists and making art necessitates what you call "copyright infringement." There is no vaccuum.

  • That's incorrect.

There is a clear difference between a derivative and something that was simply inspired by.

Think about it at the core:

A lady asks you and I to paint a picture of a cat that makes a person feel sad to look at it.

Neither of us will come up with anything close to what the other creates except for the inclusion of a cat in the image.

We were both inspired by the idea of being sad and by the lady asking for a picture of a cat.

  • Your cat might show the animal outside of a window in the rain while it looks into a warm house and a family placing down a saucer full of milk on the ground while comforting one another and looking distressed because they believe their cat is lost. Yet, it is just outside the window and they aren't looking in the right place.

My image might show a cat crossing the road at night with a car coming right at it. Moments away from its death you see wide kitty eyes frozen in fear.

  • There is very little in common between the two and one wouldn't recognize that either of our pieces are derivatives of the other. You may find some similarities but, they are each unique expressions of the same idea.

Now, what we have here is someone mimicking the unique expressions of common ideas and claiming them as his own by not crediting the original artists.

  • Because it is mimicking the execution of an idea and not the idea itself it is a derivative.

If we go back to the first example I gave of the lady asking us to each paint an image of a cat I can explain the difference.

Shortly after you finish your image and expression of that idea I walk over and look at your image. I begin to trace the image you created and despite a few changes, such as the color of the cat and the level of milk in the saucer, it is the exact same image as yours.

  • We both turn in the same painting to the lady.

To the lady, she sees the exact same image. To the lady, she feels more pride in owning the first image she sees simply because that was the first. To the lady that first image in the originator. That first image was mine. I didn't tell her that I saw your image and derived how to create my image based on yours. She thinks I am creative and very thoughtful in how I see things.

  • Even though it was your image that displays these qualities. I am simply riding your coat tails. And, unless I give you credit she will always think this and never acknowledge your hard work, the piece of your soul that you put into creating that image, or the time you spent on it.

  • One can't argue that the original artists aren't important enough or well known enough to credit the original artists. That is how unknown artists are given a chance at living out their dreams of being a successful, self sustaining artist. They are given credit and compensation for their unique expressions.

  • If what I explained in the second example were to happen to you I would suspect you would feel hurt. You're no one important or well known to the world. No one would recognize your work if I went around showing off my derivative of it to them. But, it would still hurt and take something very important away from you.

Keith took that from these people

  • Can you cite what artists / images you say Schofield is ripping off in this video? I'm genuinely curious.

  • 1:57 What's that thing in the background?

  • nachooooooooooo!!!! 00:31

  • very helL.A.

  • nice ; }}

  • The video's fantastic! :) Damn good song.

  • weird.....

  • Why are those fucked up images in there? So freaky, gooood!

  • i want to do the bath tub thing...like just fill it up with milk and cereal :D

  • That kind of makes me sexually aroused... the milk and tub part

  • eeeee

  • CAPOLAVORO.

  • OK I remember! :) It was "As Tears Go By" by The Rolling Stones + The Vitamin Quartet
