I think the most important preparation would be to get into shape and learn some form of hand to hand combat (mix of wrestling and BJJ for grappling and boxing/kickboxing/muay thai).
Your body goes through tremendous physical and mental stress during any altercation (I'm not talking about a gunfight because I'd have zero clue what that would be like... terrifying I bet) and knowing that your body can physically handle that and keep going for extended periods of time would be a huge advantage.
You could grab up some tea tree oil, look it up first cause some folks are allergic, but it's an awesome thing to add in your medical supplies. It smells a little funky but it works for infections. Can't use it on animals though.
Protect your skin. The skin is the largest organ on the human body and your first line of defense against infection. In a WROL situation, which I'm glad you're covering, you must be aware of MRSA. There are two forms, hospital based or nosocomial and community based. It remains active on surfaces for months. It is life threatening. MRSA is gram positive. Make sure you have antibiotics on hand to protect yourself. I can go on about sepsis but your subscribers need to do their homework.
#1-Glad ya had long legged shorts on while doing the leg lift thing.
On flash lights. I work on small engine equipment. I have bought the expensive Snap On,etc tool suppliers flash lights and have found ones that use easier to get batteries such as the one you bought that last and hold up very well. Better to have 3 or 4 than just one that takes a special battery you can't find easily. Good Job DEMCAD.

Titanic question, answer: Rose waited until after she was on board, how many life boats do you have, and did the math. Ofcourse she and everyone should have asked that question, I would start building my own life raft for sure so I wouldn't have to depend on or take one from someone else.

@DEMCAD Better make use of all of that isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide before they go stagnant in a few years.... : P Isopropyl alcohol oxidizes into acetone after a while. It happens much more slowly if the bottle is kept closed but once opened it occurs even faster. Once it reaches the expiration date, throw it out. You don't have to take my word for it though, do your own research : ) Wouldn't want to see you trying to steralize a wound with an ineffective cleaning agent.

Been a loong time viewer, since 2007.. And this is what I've wondering since you were in Kiechican (sp?) Alaska till now... but where the hell do you work? or where does your income come from?
dude, do you still not have antibiotics? be as careful as you want, but if you get a tooth abcess or other illness/infection hydrogen peroxide/alcohol aint gonna do shit. just looking out man ;)
Demcad you took my advice about the Coleman flashlights awesome. But I noticed you close one when looking down the sights of your guns, you should really try aiming with both eyes open, it gives you better peripheral vision, you don't have depth perception with only one eye open, and keeping one eye lid closed for a long period of time is tiring and will you eye lid flutter by itself if you do it long enough trust its happened to me before. Knee/elbow pads are definitely useful too.
Reginald, Target has a much better selection of lights for more "tactical" usage. You folding knife seems rather small. Consider the Sog Trident folder at Walmart or the Sogzilla at your local Academy Sports (if there is one in Flint).
Also, how many mags do you have for your AK and your G21 and what do you recommend as a minimum ammo stash for shtf?
Knee/elbow pads are a wise choice in a tactical situation. Any flashlight, especially high lumen-ones, are good in any low-light/no-light situation. For tactical, you might want to consider buying flashlights which "shine in the red-color spectrum". Don't forget to hold the flashlight as far away from your body as you can in a possible fire-fight situation, because the bad guy will most likely shoot directly at the flashlight. His muzzle flash will betray him, and you know what to do after that.
dude do yourself a favor and go buy yourself a good flashlight. you didnt go out and buy a crap gun. why would you skimp out on such an important thing? might i recommend a very cost effective led flashlight, its called the nebo redline, or stream light makes a penlight thats around 20 bucks. its 20 bucks you wont regret spending.
@DEMCAD I would highly recommend a website called county com they have some decent sized lights for a good price and a bunch of other nice unique items :) you might find the small AAA flashlight they have is just what you want for your key chain while the AA light would be a decent in house light.
The knee and elbow pads are a great idea, one I had also thought of and was working up to mentioning in my own blog as well. Damaged knees particularly can occur over time as well, and if you're going to be crawling around, these pads are good to use. Bad knees will put you right out of commission. The Coleman light is a step up from the underpowered minimag. 200+ lumens would be even better. Good video!
Oh, btw, is that a roll of nickels in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? :)
For me as a German it looks really funny to see an American pumping gas. For 25 gallons of gasoline I would have to pay 197 US-Dollars right now and you have to pay about 77 US-Dollars.
We are going to wear motorcycle helmets during the next severe tornado, as well as, get to a safe place. The knee/elbow pads sound good too. Stay safe. suzq.
@101crazys maybe you don't. i have 2 small solar battery chargers and a trickle charge panel built into the outside of my pack so my batteries charge while im hiking.
@101crazys also hiking in a cold situation (flint, mi) drains battery life so by the time you actually get to use them they will be dead if left in the cold for any period so had best have a way to recharge if you can. take care!
@ThespiritofEliyahu I used to think those energizer rechargeables were a good idea, but found them to not last very long, within a year or two they are shot even without use and keeping them charged. Also they do not perform well at temperature extremes. I like the lithiums as they store for a LONG time, have more power and use time, are lighter, and handle temperature extremes the best.
3:00 no cheaper way to stock up on ammo is to roll your own (reloading). It's about 1/3 the price of off the shelf and you can usually pick up brass from public ranges.
Yes it requires an up front purchase but you can always resell it when you've filled all your closets with ammo. And then we'll see you on the nightly news as they haul you off to jail rattling off something about "enough ammo to start a war".
I might suggest also get eye glasses that you can strap to your head. I dont how bad your eye sight is, but if its bad you dont want to lose your glasses in a SHTF situation. Keep up the good work.
I don't know if it's cause I'm tired as hell and going on 4 hours of sleep or what, but I'm still laughing my ass off at that " Eww, get away from me you pervert". Haha good vid bro.
All you need now is the rest of the tactical outfit and when the SHTF you are gonna be like that guy in "Rampage" and fuck everybody up,lol. Always appreciate your videos and the effort you put into trying to motivate people to smarten up.
aimsurplus (dot com) has really great deals on the wolf military classic ammo, plus its delivered to your front door in 4-5 days! Also look into buying a radiation water filter and the M10 gas masks (plus extra filters for both), a simple search will find these items.
DEMCAD you should stock up on mags and ammo this year. It was nearly impossible to get that sutff last election because Obama won. This time it will be just as bad because both Obama and Romney are anti-gun. Stock up on ammo now while you can.
@DEMCAD where's that link? I went searching for it and just found some mirror on another channel. I gave it a thumbs up, but it would have been nice to give BigDad06 the thumbs up. It was a good video he made though.
For Me in a SHTF event I like Betadyne - the ugly orange/brown liquid that they use to clean the skin before a surgery. It's kin to Iodine and works Great! Also a little tip that could save your life - Tampons, yes,I said it, tampons. -giggle- They are perfect to plug a bullet wound. If you decide to add a few of these to your kit, I suggest the "slender" size in "plastic applicators". Those work the best on bullet wounds...and yes, I was a medic, and yes we do that, and yes it really works;)
@BluegrassGrannyHorse This is just how I use betadyne and my opinion only.Always follow the directions.OK, disclaimer out of the way I use it for cuts, scrapes, minor to moderate wounds,etc...I do NOT use it for punctures, rashes, internally or on large open oozing sores. For those I prefer Hibaclens(z)-it works better than peroxide and can be used on sensitive areas as well. Ex-a cat bite with broken skin- I would use betadyne. For Rashes, bug bites/stings I would use peroxide. Cont...
@BluegrassGrannyHorse Cont... For open oozing sores or large deep cuts I like hibaclenz. Peroxide is very drying and is typically very diluted when purchased at most retail stores. Hibaclenz is more for wet sores in sensitive areas and works very well. Betadyne is for everyday type stuff that could turn septic quick in a SHTF scenario. That said, I have all 3 in my stash, but only cary Vodka in my bug out bag. If I have to be on foot, it does everything. Message me if you want more info. Cheers
Demcad, you get more bang for your buck with rechargeable AA, AAA and D batteries. With a solar charger, your investment pays for itself in no time. A decent solar charger, the one I own, runs around $19.00. The solar charger also runs D cells and some exotic battery types not handled by a plug in charger.
FENIX PD 20 is the size if your thumb and puts out 190 lumens of light and minimum of 9 lumens to save battery. Seems like what you want!! I love this light!! And women won't mistake it for anything haha!
You should do a little demo on how to treat wounds using alcohol, h-peroxide, how to treat gun-shot wounds like taking out a bullet, or stab wounds etc. Thanks for sharing.
I once had a flashlight that was measuredin candle light power. It said it was one million candle light worthof brightness but it really didn't seem bright. I like my mag light flashlights.
Reggie have you considered using one of those "tactical" shoulder bags or some sort of fanny pack? You seem to be out growing your pockets lol. Personally I cant stand too much crap in my pocket.
The best performance flashlight I have been able to find is the Coast brand LED lensor line. Don't know what they have now, but 3 years ago I got a P7 (part # 059570). Brighter than my car's headlights, and never replaced the batteries since I bought it. I use it almost daily, and it has sat in my car through two winters, enduring -35 deg celcius and possibly worse. Still works like new.
@DEMCAD We drive a Prius and burn zero gasoline at stoplights, stop signs, train crossings, etc. We'll never own another vehicle that wastes gas when the vehicle is stationary.
By way of a bonus, the Prius runs our house lights, laptop & internet gateway, & refrigerator during a power outage. A full 11.9 gallon tank gives us 8-1/2 days of near-silent continuous power. A rolling household powerplant. It doesn't get much better than that!
@darksideoffroad We bought our new generation II Prius back in 2005 one week before hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf Coast and drove gas prices through the roof. Cost was $21.9k.
Since that time, our auto fuel costs have dropped from $175+ per month down to an average of around $65 - $70.
@bgrim2008 actually i read a book on cosmetic ingredients...vaseline or pertroleum is the basis for all cosmetics. Dont waste money on expensive creams.
YouTube Flint New Years watch a few videos and tell me just how prepared Reggie is do to the urban survival in Flint.
Do a regular search for Flint watch how even under the best of circumstances properties get looted/destroyed days after they turn vacant.
Reggie isn't prepared for SHTF at all, at best he's prepared for a two week power interruption given the National guard comes in to protect properties.
I would rather be a Jew in Poland during the Blitzkrieg than live in Flint during SHTF.
THE LIGHTS ARE GREAT DEMCAD!! i have three of the 90 lumen models with two of them on 12 gauge "house guns", nothing fancy but they work! and the handle the recoil well. keep up the good work
May I also suggest sutures, a surgical kit (with a good how-to manual), and an emergency dental kit? I have all of those here, of course I'm 45 miles from the nearest hospital and my nearest neighbor is 3 miles away. I have had to sew up my son in the kitchen before and I've had it done to me as well.
I have a 12VDC-to-110VAC 60Hz converter that goes into my cigarette light in my jeep. If I'm going to take a short trip or be on the road for a few hours I recharge some batteries. Once the car battery is charged the charging system just shunts they excess to ground. The jeep just keeps making electricity the whole time it's running, I'm just reclaiming it. So, it's kinda like free electricity.
Heads from EUROPE up to everyone living in the newly formed USSA! (US & NDNA joke :)
Well i saw that DEMCAD filled up the van at 0:12 with 24 gallons for 77$..
well a quick calculation later: 24 gallon = 94.6 l and 77$ = 58.6 Eur
So u pay 58.6/94.6 =0.62 Eur/l .. FUUU*K THATS CHEAP!!
Yea thats really cheap, its like a 1/3 of our price over here.. yea in northern EUROPE that same amount of gas would cost about 180 USD.. no joke! ( a LOT of taxes on fuel here in EU ) So stock up ;)
One point of interest is you have to much weight on your key ring. If you have that on your van/car/truck keys you will cause premature were on your key cylinder, This will lead to ignition system problems down the road.
Turn your van off at a long stop I like the flashlight they make that in the multi colored lens kit too...did you do the $10 LED conversion on your mini-mag light? Try going prone shooting position with the elbow pads Nice adjustments on the Flash light...and as long as it's in your pants it's not offensive...lol
Good idea to have something to prevent & treat infections.
For the average person a light separate from the weapon is the safest & best option. There are sites that explain how to use a flashlight that are not attached to a gun but used to search & shoot. (+you bought a good one with a lanyard too.)
your the best man

You have thought of a lot of stuff. A few points:
1. Colloidal silver - it is the most effective disinfectant /antibiotic/anti-viral out there. The US government have patented it for use against HIV.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide has a limited shelf life once opened. Multiple small bottles is better than one big one.

101crazys 1 month ago
@101crazys also hiking in a cold situation (flint, mi) drains battery life so by the time you actually get to use them they will be dead if left in the cold for any period so had best have a way to recharge if you can. take care!

@101crazys google solar backpack
ThespiritofEliyahu 1 month ago

And then we'll see you on the nightly news as they haul you off to jail rattling off something about "enough ammo to start a war".
penguinistas 1 month ago
I might suggest also get eye glasses that you can strap to your head. I dont how bad your eye sight is, but if its bad you dont want to lose your glasses in a SHTF situation. Keep up the good work.

Those work the best on bullet wounds...and yes, I was a medic, and yes we do that, and yes it really works;)
firehauskennels 1 month ago 10
@firehauskennels i read betadine is only for the outside of a wound but hydrogen peroxide for inside. Is this correct?
BluegrassGrannyHorse 1 month ago
@BluegrassGrannyHorse This is just how I use betadyne and my opinion only.Always follow the directions.OK, disclaimer out of the way I use it for cuts, scrapes, minor to moderate wounds,etc...I do NOT use it for punctures, rashes, internally or on large open oozing sores. For those I prefer Hibaclens(z)-it works better than peroxide and can be used on sensitive areas as well. Ex-a cat bite with broken skin- I would use betadyne. For Rashes, bug bites/stings I would use peroxide. Cont...
firehauskennels 1 month ago

It doesn't get much better than that!

darksideoffroad 1 month ago
@darksideoffroad We bought our new generation II Prius back in 2005 one week before hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf Coast and drove gas prices through the roof. Cost was $21.9k.
Since that time, our auto fuel costs have dropped from $175+ per month down to an average of around $65 - $70.

Good idea to have something to prevent & treat infections.
For the average person a light separate from the weapon is the safest & best option. There are sites that explain how to use a flashlight that are not attached to a gun but used to search & shoot. (+you bought a good one with a lanyard too.)
