  • Wait...I also have to tell you that what you are "playing"...is not music. That's just gibberish with some sort of crap noise in the mix...if you can even call it any of that. well, just bear in mind that I use all of these words (the ones that don't indicate the absolute inanity of the sound) very loosely. In fact I'd like to just say that it's all a bunch of cunty rubbish, but I won't.

  • I don't do any of this, don't even like DJed music, but I enjoyed the tutorial. Especially that you don't look like this in person. Great stuff. I don't look like myself in person either...no joke.

  • HOW TO DJ WITH A LAPTOP:

    STEP 1: DON'T!

  • im running vdj 7,and a denon hc4500 with no mixer, how would i connect everything up?im gueesing i still have to get a soundcard to plug in my head phones and speakers right?ive been trouble figuring this out,you think you can help me??!

  • @ mike71flores !!PLEASE REPLY!! doing this can i click buttons and move the crossfader and stuff like that & will it work on the computer like the cross fader will move and all that??

  • @j1401109 I do, a lot, it works perfectly. If you weren't retarded you'd see that it's not a jack specific for headphones. It's just a hole that you can connect to something else. Like most other holes...

  • @04A13 Im not retarded, I just prefer quality sound, RETARD! -___-

  • @j1401109 a lot of people

  • do you need an amp to hook the speakers up ? you skipped that step !

  • lols i dont need DJio becuz i got beats audio :D

  • @arandajeanluc fags use 'lols'...hi fag

  • @SenorCajones mhm thats why you never get over 100 views in your videos and thats why i could afford a laptop with beats audio and i bet i could dj better than you

  • @j1401109 i do as well as my sound card is awesome

  • virtual dj is shit. and my god please dont connect you mixer from the headphone jack

  • So you must have a lap top that has a working head phone/ear phone jack?

  • Thanks man.

  • do we need full virtual dj for usb cable ''DJIO'' ???? need fast respondd plz thanks

  • how can i connect turntables to this. and not use serato scrach live

  • Comment removed

  • he lost me at virtual dj...

  • where do i get the jacks?

  • Well done... easy to understand and great shots.

  • i have the dicover dj pro will this process still work

  • Comment removed

  • will Behringer U-CONTROL UCA222 (and the like) work as replacement interface for DJ sofware like Torq and Traktor?

  • It pays to use a Ground Loop Isolator between the Laptop and Mixer, as it cuts out noise from the Laptop power supply, these are cheap to buy and improves the sound 100%, I have used one for years as I use a Laptop to push music all around my house, via and old Amplifier, also works with my Mixer too.

  • BABY MIXER

  • can i just get a controller, instead of a mixer and turntables?

  • How do you connect your turntables on this?

  • @CCKILLERKREW you would need to have something like serato scratch live

  • @mike71flores what's that?

  • advice!! can someone tell me what lead i need to buy to connect my laptop to my amplifier for my turn tables?? and also what software i need> i just wanna make some mix cds> ive been out the game for a while...

  • @vine139 Just match the connections from one end to the other , then locate that cable .....so if you need 1/4 inch on one end and RCA on another ...you can bet that there is a cable for that. A turntable must have time coded vinyl to work properly, however look around you tube and you can find people that have figured out how to do it cheaply, your decision to do properly or the hack version.

  • @mike71flores Thats not a Firewire, 1334 one :)

  • @mike71flores if i have virtual dj home, may i play music from my program and mix it on this ?

  • Never! Ever! place your laptop/computer on top of any speaker! It will damage your computer due to magnetism. Good advice on sound only from this Dj.

  • @1LLosAngeles NOT true.....Open up a Hard Drive and you will find the biggest magnet you have ever seen.

  • @1LLosAngeles You are incorrect

  • Never ever place your laptop/compute on top of any speaker! It will damage your computer due to magnetism. Good advice on sound only from this Dj.

  • if you dont want to go through all of this you can simply buy a pioneer product such as the CDJ 900 and CD 2000 where theres already a built in soundcard and you can plug it straight into the computer. of course you have to hook the CDJ's to the mixer but its simple as that. but then again, its all about your budget

  • @mazdarx23 Yes, it's called latency. No matter what happens you will have a certain amount of latency. You need to set up your software well so that your latency is under 15ms or so, once below that range it's extremely hard to notice the latency. Once under 10ms it's impossible to notice. Even plugging a guitar into an amp will have some latency from hitting the note and it running through the amp of being reproduced, it's just the latency is so low it's unnoticeable. Same principle.

  • Uhh.. Everyone knows what a USB is... Really no need for the confusing 'pipes' description :/

  • Will this work with Vinyl decks?

  • @GNRule123 no

  • @mike71flores What decks do all the high end Djs use? (the decks that look like vinyl)

  • @GNRule123 denon

  • @mike71flores all the high end DJs use pioneer mk3 series.... you don’t see tiesto using 200 dollar decks

  • @GNRule123 WE use Pioneer CDJs or 1200's. They are industry Standard. (That means if you're flying in a guest dj or major artist to perform they will request that you have one of these systems set up)

  • @ImDJVA Agreed.. Denon? wtf looolll

  • @GNRule123 What you may be referring to is time encoded vinyl. A time coded vinyl can be used to control any compatible software, such as traktor. I'll not go into detail here as if you just google it you'll find all the information you need.

  • @GNRule123 pioneer cdj 2000's

  • @mike71flores well you can with serato and traktor...

  • @HubertMcfarland thats dot tk. i know what that means. my sites dot tk and every other is spam or scam.

  • question: how do you load songs so they play automatically? Thank you..

  • You are very helpful.. Thank you for sharing.

  • im useing the dj io and the numark total control and do not have a pa system will i need a mixer and will i need self powered pa system becuase the numark total control does not have any input besides the usb port

  • You just made mylife easier! Thanks! lol

  • excellenttttttttttttttt

  • who needs college.... take youtube courses...

  • hey, i have a problem where my music randomly stops playing, i heard it could b the asio driver. But if i get the numark io, will it stop that problem?

  • @joseklunker That would work fine, just download some audio recording software such as Audacity [it's free]. It's simple!

  • i,ve got a question bro:

i've got a pioneer djm 700k and want to record my mixes, could i simply go from the rec output to my mic input on laptop and then record it with any sofware or it wouldnt work???

    tnks

  • hey your phone is ringing

  • thx man is great..hehehe

  • Hi Mike I was wondering will the Dj/Io work with windows7? I am buying one but the saler says he has windows7 and will not work so I was wondering if you have heard anything?

  • @musiclover209er it will work, windows 7 is backwards compatible

  • @mike71flores hello Mike. are you came from Flores, Indonesia?

  • @mike71flores That's not true for hardware, it's up to the company to release compatible drivers. You may be lucky by installing vista drivers under compatibility mode with windows 7 but more often then not this doesn't work and if it does it's extremely buggy.

  • @ElectronicIntervals it works...

  • @mike71flores I wasn't saying about the Numark Digital i/o, I was just saying in general! Wasn't trying to point out anyone or such, cheers for the upload by the way.

  • I wanted to apologize quiederti as I can connect the CDJ 800 to pc? I have to buy something else thanks a lot

  • it's not "the numark" it's "the soundcard"

  • why do you plug the y cable in channel 1? why don't you plug it in the tape output?

  • I need help!! I am going to buy a Hercules RMX console which im goin to connect to my laptop!! then i connect my console to my Behringer VMX200 mixer, then my mixer to my amplifier and then my amplifier to the speakers.. is that correct?? and btw wat amplifier or speakers would you suggest?? PLZ I AM DESPERATE!!!!!

  • nice

  • YOU CAN USE THE BEST PROGRAMS AND LAPTOPS OF THE WORLD ...BUT ONE THING I TELL YOU MUSIC WITH VINYL OR VYNIL WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT ...SOUNDS REALLY MUCH BETTER ...THEN YOUR AMERICAN PROGRAMS AND LAPTOPS...THE MUSIC PLAYED BY VINYL IS REALLY BEATIFULL......AND DOESNT FUCK UP THE SPEAKERS LIKE THE MP3 PIRATE MUSIC ..THAT YOU HEAR....THAT`S ALL FOLKS TECHNO 4 LIFE .....

  • @djpanik3d yeah but when you start playing bigger gigs the bass is gonna jump your needle, and I play with wavs not mp3s...

  • @djpanik3d If you purchase your music, dj wav files, use a good quality sound card [such as native instruments audio4dj] then you can get better sound quality then vinyl. Vinyl missing out on a lot of higher frequencies due to the mastering process for mixing vinyl to avoid the needle jumping, so technically there is better sound quality of wav. The TONE of vinyl is different and that is a preference, is a fender better then a gibson? That's a preference. A good DJ cares about music, not medium.

  • Hey I am new to DJ I am trying to learn and trying to see what set up can I start with to start learning or what do i need to learn first?? Would this be a set up for a beginer? or theres a cheaper set up I can start with?

  • would a stereo mixer be ok for this? haven't got anything else :P

  • what is the name of that blue mixer?

  • I can actually click the songs ripped to Media Player so fast that the songs seem to gel, so I can do without mixer.

  • awsome!

  • hey somebody wanna get that phone.................SOMEBODY PICK UP THE FUCKING PHONE!!!! LMFAO sorry couldn't resist lol =P

  • what soft wear should i get i am a beginer and broke

  • @16nopfer Since your asking an honest question, I will help you out. For the software you can download a free software program called 'Virtual DJ'. Just google it and you can find a number of sites that offer it. You will have to do everything with the mouse and keyboard, so it is going to take some time to learn your mappers and learn how to use the mouse to 'scratch' your music. I am assuming you are using a laptop so this is windows and mac friendly. As you can see, he uses Virtual DJ.

  • @16nopfer (Continuing from last comment) Virtual DJ is a great way to get familiar with the ins and outs of DJing. The only thing I recommend, is that when you want to move on to bigger and better things, you should get some real DJ software. Me, I use Traktor, but a lot of people also use Serato. Depending on how good you want your software depends on how much you want to spend. Other than that, your set!! I hope this helps you out. Just keep practicing, and spread the love of music. Peace.

  • @TheWhiteLycan Sorry mate, Virtual DJ is not free. You can get a highly limited trial version for free. I use Traktor myself but the truth is that the full version of Virtual DJ is as much a capable platform for digital DJing as Traktor or Serato. It has a bit of a bad name from the trial version and buggy cracks but the reality is that it is as much of a contender, along with Torq, deckadance and some other underdogs. Not attacking you or anything but Virtual DJ is very much "real" DJ Software.

  • @16nopfer Spell checker and resume organizer, quick.

  • does the interface work with traktor scratch pro and a pioneer mixer?

  • just get tha FL STUDIO 9 and make some beats, thats what i did:PPP

  • OMG we use the same headphones we're like heaphone buddy's Lol

  • Good video. You might want to take down the annotation that asks people to click the youtube ads though, as that's against youtube/google terms of service and can get you lifetime banned from ever making money with either.

  • i'm having a really hard time trying to connect my laptop to my dj I dont know what channel its in, I have fourchannels 2 of them is foe the cd's an the other one is for the ipod and laptop, an other thing do we need to purchase virtual dj in order for everything to work ?

  • mike I have virtual dj home system{the free one} I bought DJ IO and I get the error message "error in the asio sound driver not enough channels" is it a setting issue or do I need to purchase the upgrade virtual dj ?? thank you

  • Great video Mike! These days, which PC would you recommend for DJ's. I use Serato NS7 and I need something that won't freeze intermittently at all. Thanks for your time!

  • @Giggity2007 If the software will work with MAC, I would go there first, if not an apple fan, then look for something with 4gigs of RAM 250gb hard drive and dual core processor....

  • @mike71flores Thanks a lot for the useful info! As much as I think MACs are overpriced I think I'll look into them.

  • @Giggity2007 MACBOOK

  • great video! very interesting, im currently a producer (check out my channel id you want to hear my stuff) but is there any possible chance i could just like start out with like possibly get setup with around maybe £100-£150? because i'm 15 (almost 16) soo im still at school. thanks :)

  • you can get the io for as low as 50$

  • i have the same laptop OMGOMGOMG

  • im a new dj and im investing in moniters... wat would be the best brand or typr of moniters to get

  • and where i can put the turntable ?

  • on the numark io can you connect speakers into it cuz my speakers have a 1/4 cable and banana cable

  • @sk8ier4life Yes you can if they are powered speakers.

  • you are cool

  • @vwpme CoOl !

  • I have an american audio vms 4 and a mac and an amp (they're connected to 5.1 speakers). how do i connect em up to start djing?

I dont know what to connect what with. please help out soon.

  • @tanayshah91 connect the VMS-4 via USB to your laptop, install your Virtual DJ software on your mac. From the VMS-4 your have either XLR outputs or RCA outputs. Plug these into your 5.1 speakers via amp.

  • @mike71flores I connected my laptop to the vms4 via usb. i installed the software onto the laptop but then i had to upgrade it to a free 20 day trial of the vdj 7.0 because the prefrences on the virtual dj LE said so. but NOW i dont know how to connect my amp. to my vms4. the problem im facing is there are many ports on my amp and i dont know what to connect it to on the vms 4 either. AND i dont know what to do in the prefrences on this trial too

  • @tanayshah91 what kind of connections are on the back of your amp? are they RCA jacks?

  • @mike71flores yes they're rca jacks with a red and white head.Theres basically a phono rca, cd rca, tape/md rca and a few more. Then above that, completely separate from it theres a heading which says 'external decoder input' and it has 3 subtypes: main, centre and another one.

  • @tanayshah91 ok, just plug into the "CD RCA" then make sure you select CD RCA on your stereo unit. IN virtual DJ you need to select the VMS4 soundcard, or if it's using ASIO sound drivers you would select this option. Do you have RCA red and white cables to plug in from the VMS4 to the back of your AMP?

  • sorry, what are ASIO drivers? the cd i got with the box only has a setup to virtual dj in an mpkj file and that too the prefrences aren't popping up anymore. all it says is buy the full version. so im re-installing it on my laptop now.

Do i not need to connect the same cable (CD RCA) i.e. from the amp to the '38' (installer manual vms4) ?

  • @mike71flores hey i managed to connect it up. but i cant hear anything. theres no sound coming from the speakers. and the worst part is i cant even see the prefrences as when i go to that tab it keeps prompting me to buy the full version. its not even giving me the 20 day trial anymore. what should i do?

  • @mike71flores but the software does detect the song playing and so does my vms as the lights keep popping. man i really dont know what to do :s

  • hello i was just wondering if the virtualdj you are using is the free version or the paid one?

  • Great Video!!

  • hey i had a question

when i select the asio driver in vdj and i have headphones as my output, when i go to play a song in virtual dj it does not play at all. Or it plays very very slowly. Any idea what is going on?

  • @MrCanuck88 it's because one out put becomes the headphones and the other output becomes master left channel, headphones right channel.

  • @mike71flores

Im not that is the problem. I think it might have to do with the latency settings. Any idea on how to choose the right setting?

  • You have one missed call...

  • @Greyskymorning395 Thanks, constantly get reminded.

  • @mike71flores lolz on a serious note mate... just want to ask something...

Im on holiday at the moment... and i purchased a Dj control steel by hercules and also the nemark numark phx usb because comp which is a mac air has only one audio output slot (the headphone output)... now if i wanted connect the comp to an amp... do i only need a good quality RCA cable?

  • how much does a mixer cost?

  • @coolymichael between 120 and 800 dollars depending on brand and type

  • @coolymichael like 80 buck depends wat brand check on guitar center

  • Hi mike71flores. Is the djio compatible with vista o/s. Many Thanks. Paul

  • @LFC2458 yes

  • Comment removed

  • Extreme close up!!! wooaahhhhhhh!!!!!! woooaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

  • @dubbys pretty huh?

  • i want to play with my laptop can i do it without the DJIO?

  • @wilson121415 yes, just use your software to fade the song over.

  • @mike71flores yeah the thing is, i want to do it with an external mixer an the problem is to put out to chanels from the laptop with out the interface

  • Do I need to use the the usb board? Can I just Hace it directly to the mixer?

  • 3:10 TELEPHONE

  • Thanks nice vid! What mixer are you using??? thanks!

  • the phone was ringing... :P

  • This helped me alot.

BTW for all you kids that want a laugh please watch this vid with the translator on...

    translation fails :D

  • is it neccasary to have a amplifyier if you have a speakers and a mixer? and i really dont want to talk i just want to play music, plz help

  • so if i hook it up the first way you had it, does it have to have a output too? please answer :)

  • great vid dude, it explained EVERYTHING! this is what ive been looking for, ive been using virtual DJ pro 6.0 for about 5 months now, and its getting way too simple and even though it has all the same features a mixer does, you have more capabiltities and can do more edits all at once and scratch better with actual mixers and turntables.......ive been wanting to know just what to buy, and this vid showed it all! thanks!

  • how do you dj with a mac?

  • Nice job, Mike.

  • @1JaHRaSTaM0N This is called a ground loop. To prove the ground loop theory unplug your power adapter and let it run off the batteries. If the problem still persists then its your cabling which can be fixed by using proper XLR speaker cables. You can also purchase a good ground loop isolator or I just use a MONSTER PRO power surge protector which has discrete circuitry.

  • @mike71flores

Mike I actually narrow it down to the Power Supply because I tried setting up the system with both the mixer and it kind of interesting that the Laptop create a major feedback even if I use the Loop Isolator which I'm already familar with. I used my desktop and the sound is much better so I'm going to use the desktop. The laptop is going to be replace next year. Now I get the feedback when I use the mixer but no feedback from the controller only.

  • You know Mike I got a question that been bothering me and I have used the DJIO and no matter what I do I get feedback sound and I have done many configuration to eliminate that feed back. I found that the labtop power supply is what causes the feedback. Now I'm thinking about getting a Mac laptop because I notice that most DJs are using Mac so I was wondering does it also cause feedback?

  • Unlike most people reading this page, I am a musician. My goal is enjoy making my music. This whole "laptop DJ" that only performs at wedding and hired performances is pretty much a monkey with two play buttons. If you wanna be just a trained monkey, by all means be my guest. If you have a legit interest in music creation and manipulation, you are not concerned with fags like OYTaeMo who are threatening to "not hire me". (I don't put myself out there for hire at weddings unlike theseotherfakies

  • hey wat kind of software u use for mixing and scrachting thing on ur laptop??

  • @dbee013 Virtual DJ

  • Dj fatboy slim uses a lap top !! if you use Virtual Dj Pro V6.0.1

  • @MrValueking Oh you mean like how I've trained for years to play a guitar and now people can just play let records at a party. Get over it times change.

  • @Inferno599 Thats a really poor analogy guy!

  • @MrValueking How?

  • is there any chance that a mixer/pc mixer has not a cue button ?

  • can you use the input as a output so you have to output? :D

  • Thanks. This was very informative.

  • I really don't like this, but , I'M GRATEFUL that U took the time to do this . I ONLY PLAY VINYL RECORDS, but , for obvious reasons (carrying heavy records ) I will begin playing cd's & EVENTUALLY switch over to a lap top. Thanks Mike71flores for posting.

  • Very informational!

  • Having a computer match house or trance beats for you is weak, I don't care who is doing it. Serato is OK, because you have to do the work yourself. (the big guys are all atleast playing tracks that THEY PRODUCED when computers beat match for them)

Those DJS you listed are all little boys compared to q-bert or any other legit turtablist. Their one job is to beatmatch, and they don't even want to do that themselves, and get a laptop to do that for them. WEAK!

  • Hey DJ Mike, I recently got an old Yamaha M1524, it was free, 100% working, and I really want to get into sound and mixing and being a DJ. Could you tell me what exactly my Yamaha Sound Mixer is for? I would like to start understanding what's going on, so I can become a better Mixer and DJ. Thanks so much! Your videos rock!

  • dude i have a numark dxm06 mixer and my laptop(acer aspire) havent a clue , help on connecting these up would be great! i do intend on buying cd decks but for now this is all i have. many thanks cheers
