I can remember when Detroit was a thriving city. Block after block of beautiful Victorian style homes. If you were willing to work, a great job with a good wage was yours. Sad to see the city now.
@HarryTruthman You're exactly right; Reagan (aka Raygun) was the beginning of the end for this system. That's when they started going overboard with the propaganda, illegal union firings, illegal wars (we were even taken to the world court in '84), etc. But, of course, they went overboard now...and now we're in a light depression....people are on the verge of rioting....but yet they're proposing shit like 9-9-9....lol...will they never learn.
Visit Downtown Detroit in the middle of the summer, there's nothing "ghost town" about it. Why do you people hate Detroit so much, it's really strange.
@bigtown because if you live there you might not realize it, but its not normal to have hundreds of square miles of a city abandoned and in ruin. And to have the average home price be 6,000 and homes selling for 1 dollar. I live in the west (reno nv) and I cant imagine that. We have maybe a few buildings and a few homes in the entire city that arent occupied, not thousands, not entire districts. and thats how it is in most places ive been to here in the west. This video is very depressing
about 250,000 individuals live below the poverty line in Detroit; in New York that number is more than 1.5 million. So being named the nation's poorest big city is not so much a function of poverty as one of wealth. If you have enough upper-class residents to offset the poor ones, then you're in the clear. And curiously it doesn't take many wealthy people to tilt the scales: 26 percent of Detroit's population is officially poor; in New York that number dips all the way down to...21.
Please the streets of Detroit need help but we need all the advice and support we can get go to madinablogs . ucoz . com (without the spacing and go to blog its the last one.) Please help help set up a group to help Detroit. help the people please its all I ask of anyone with a heart We don't need your money just your advice and people to take action. !
Detroit evolved from a trading post over 300 years ago...it didn't die over night, and its rebirth isn't going to happen over night either. But, the seeds of rebirth are coming, slowly but surely.
See "Detroit Lives" on vbs.tv for an interesting take on some of the things that are happening in the Corktown area
This video is very POLITICALLY CORRECT. I didn't see one black person, which is one of the causes of the blight. Another cause is the unions which ran the auto makers into the ground. But, ssssshhhhh, let's not talk about that.
The future of the USA is Detroit. This country is done. Greed and profit rule and the government and Wall Street are completely in the hands of the Zionists.
Al-Qaeda are small fry compared to the seditious fascists who have mired the US in a decades-old cycle of war for oil, wrapped up and sold back to middle America by a Nazi-hijacked Republican Party as a defense of 'God, mom and apple pie'. Nobody terrorizes America like the unrestrained, entirely taxpayer-subsidized American automobile and oil industries. These parties have come undone since we elected the first brown-skinned president in US history, as unbelievable as that may sound.
@dpjaexp are you seriously trying to make the argument that the President's race had anything to do with the decline of the auto industry? Or that Nazi's control the Republican party? I don't usually respond to trolls, but I can't let this one go
@dpjaexp "unrestrained, entirely taxpayer-subsidized American automobile and oil industries"?? Are you serious?? Well, if you mean that the government collecting $2 in excise tax for every dollar in profit the oil companies make as "taxpayer-subsidized" then OK. But doesn't it really look like the GoVeRnmENt is being subsidized by the oil companies with our money? jus sayin
How come we Keep paying for everything but the government acts like they own it?
The Europeans have buildings that they have lived in for hundred of years; in our country, we have projects that were built in the 70s that are nothing but hulking ghettos. Now, I ask you; does a building break out its own windows, can it urinate in its own hallways, or is that the animal occupants that inhabit them?
omg what happened with this city? i read some days ago a new about this city and i seen some pictures. I'm shocked:o how was possible this disaster? a huge train station abandoned, a big hospital and lots of factories :o what problem caused all this disaster?
@astaeusernamemeu Big Auto, Big Oil, the Military Industrial complex, racism, organized crime and deliberately disorganized civil authority in the pay of all of the aforementioned policy. GM, Detroit's pride and joy, was headed by Alfred Sloan, a Nazi collaborator, decorated by the SS. Henry Ford wrote a book called 'The International Jew'. Detroit is the birthplace of the campaign to destroy our nation's electric street railways and corrode urban life in the United States.
What happened to the city? "I'm very sad for the city people and families.Toda uma Historia e cultura Americana nestas Ruas...mesmo assi conserva seu misterio.
The UAW and city polititons ruined Detroit. A buch of liberals got in office in 1961. Big demands, high wages, ect, ect, slowley brought Detroit down. It's sad.
The same people who make these videos and bitch about buildings being abondened or destroyed are the ones who sit on thier ass and dont do a thing about it
Give it up for Eminem and the new Chrysler commercial shown during the Super Bowl. Let Detroit continue to be the shit hole everyone points to as the ploace they would never on their worst day want to visit. And the day is coming I believe, that many of them will have children hoping to get on at one of Detroit's many businesses in many fields one day in the future. Its coming.
@1967mustanggta detroits actually a pretty cool place. LOTS of homeless. i stayed thre last year for about a month at the park shelton. its sad how bad its gotten tho.
you are all wrong. go there and see who lives in filth. blacks! negros!!! dont you get it?! what is wrong with you? Detroit is a large scale example of what happens when blacks are aloud to run a muck through a city area. ghetto times ten! you keep telling your self its the government or some other hog wash. when you got shit under your shoe and there is a dog near by , you dont blame the telephone pole do you? wake the fuck up!
I agree the unions were a part of the problem but throughout the mid seventies throughout the eighties and probably beyond the big three built junk. Management refused to accept the fact that if people had to spend thousands of dollars on an automobile some might actually take their business elsewhere and even spend more on a better built product. In 1954 GM had 54% market share - bankrupt in 2009 This didn't happen quickly and there were numerous causes.
Here is my opinion on what has happened to Detroit. Detroit, as many of you may know, is largely full of "ghetto types" of people that have no education, where vandalizing and destroying are their "default behavior", that's why you see so many structures there in chaotic conditions. If people living in Detroit had a brain, they would declare ownership of abandoned properties either for business or for living as the law allows people to assume ownership of abandoned bldns instead of vandalizing
@yafilmDOTcom YOU KNOW WHAT I SEE AND HEAR ON THIS PAGE ?DO YA? A BUNCH OF WANNA BE INTELLLECTUALS. WHOM HAVE NEVER WORKED IN AN AUTO PLAT OR BEEN IN DETROIT EXCEPT TO PASS THRU ON THE E-WAY. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS COUNTRY AND DETROIT IS EVERYONE JUST WANT S TO "SOUND GOOD" HENCE THE EXPRESSION "GEE THAT SOUNDS GOOD" YOU SHOULD RUN FOR CONGRESS......DUMB ASS
@yafilmDOTcom well dude , let me tell you detroit had and i say had , some of the most talented metal workers in the world... AND I KNOW FIRST HAND.....SO FUCK YOU WITH YOUR GEHTTO TYPE BULLSHIT.
you could take pictures of renovations, gardens, artist studios.. a whole movement going on. if you continue to produce, watch and believe videos created by people fascinated with abandoned buildings y0u will miss the true value in detroit.... the people.
The Chinese will find a way to ***K up their country but until then we have to live with the consequences of short sighted city gov't the UAW, auto mgmt, "urban attitude" etc.
That N-Word mayor who called himself the Real Motherfucker caused every bit of this, betraying his race. Through his bigotry and lust for monatry gain and raping the cities white owned recources, white big business and political leaders blackballed detroit. When the black man places a political leader into power, he gets the attitude, "My brother is gonna give us Eden attitude" .Leaders should be in power because of ability, not the color of their skin. I think a white mayor will clean city.
Toledo, Ohio is automotive industry as well, and the fall off the industry has hit us hard too. We feel the pain you feel Detroit. Toledo is now a bunch of abandoned buildings, closed schools, boarded up neighborhoods, no jobs left, and homeless on the streets. It's about 45 mins away from Detroit and I used to kick it up there. Maybe one day our cities will be great again...Until then we shall watch them fall as much as it breaks our hearts. God bless you Detroit, Toledo, and America.
Workers did get lazy and management did too since they put up with that. One thing I have learned from my work in manufacturing is that no amount of hard work will ever compete with a good from China. It has been winner take all and now we are left with an insolvent country where 15 percent is permanently collecting unemployment. Jobs have to be brought back or this nation is doomed. We need that tax base.
@westonsz More Republican/management BS. 1.) Studies have shown conclusively that GM's screwed up, Durant-era management model was THE fault for the collapse of GM. 2.) Chinese workers are modern-day equivalents of slaves. 3.) You can not "permanently collect" unemployment in any state in the Union. 4.) Jobs on YOUR terms?? What, $10/hr, with corporate-crap benefits? That's not going to work. What we NEED is to put the wood to CHINA. We screwed up Japan and now they're in a permacession
I'm not a Rep or Dem but don't be foolish enough to think the dems work for you because they don't either. The far left scares the hell out of me becuase they believe that you penalize the driven and sucessful to pay for the lazy. I believe in a fair living wage but that is a two way street with the price being a fair days work. In Michigan some have been collecting unemployment for 2 years plus now so yes it would make sense to bring the jobs back and let the people work.
At GM the workers and management should share equal blame. The whole "it's not my job union mentality is a costly one". Competing with China flat out stinks I know this because I do. If people like you cared then for one evening every few years you would have gotten off the couch and voted for the candidate that didn't support that policy. As I recall Bush Sr. got it started and Clinto made it happen. Clinton was a democrat right? Take off the blinders the dems suck!
Buy American and this will not happen. People need jobs to have money. Pay the workers a fair wage and not an inflated one. This will happen to the rest of the US if we are not careful.
It wasnt capitalism that ruined Detroit,It was theUAW... A socialist labor union.. That guarenteed fat paychecks for worthless fucks..25 bucks and hour for a fork lift driver plus bennifits? Machinists that dont know how to machine, and the famous line"THATS NOT MY JOB"..And this video by a chick who never lived or worked in the city. Rich bitch at Uof M,. cryin out for the poor masses, and has never known a day of hunger or what a lay-off was like..let them eat cake..
I heard, "its not my job" alot years ago in a non union shop. Years later when I became boss there I got rid of everybody like that and changed the mentality. The boomer generation was spoiled and had that mentality and many people were taught that mentality. These days in the detroit area workers in small businesses work very hard for 10 to 15 dollars an hr. and do whatever is asked of them.
@westonsz What a moron. Like no one deserves a good job except YOU, I supposed. What are you, so Gen Xer low level management turd? You need a brain enema. I flush effluent like you down the crapper on a daily basis.
The point is you don't deserve a job if you aren't willing to put in a good days work. The days of thinking that you can go in a place and you are "entitled" are long gone. I'd like to see the same type of rules for wall street and corporate America. The fact is the laziest UAW worker probably does more actual work in one month than some of these lazy ceo's do in a lifetime. I deserve a job if I am willing to work, otherwise I don't deserve one.
@westonsz It's good you do realize that. By the way, I've known many UAW (and IBEW, CWA, IEU, AFA, BofLE, UTU and other assorted workers) about 95% of hard working, reliable, honest people. 10% are idiots that you alllude to, but that is MANAGEMENT'S fault if they're still around. Even with the toughest union, documentation and supervision can get any slacker terminated. Not so for the idiot corporate goon or the Wall St. thief...there are no checks and balances on him, at all.
Look pal I started in the workforce 20 years ago at an amazing rate of six bucks an hr. I honored the agreement I made when I accepted the job and did the job. I chose to put myself through college while showing up for work everyday and worked my way up. For me there was no mommy and daddy college scholarship or next in line UAW free opportunity. I've worked for what I have. I don't spend life waiting for others to do something for me I do it for me.
@DUGTRUX I'm doing my best to save their jobs so things don't get worse. The problems are caused by the entitlement mentality of workers combined with wall street cooking of the books corporate greed mentality. People have to accept the idea of going to work and doing the job day in day out. When I hit the workforce 20 years agon the majority did nothing but complain. We all choose to work or not work for a company. To beat China employees and the company must join forces.
@DUGTRUX I do my best to convince the ignorant suits the value of the working people and that you can't run a high level manufacturing company with highly skilled working people paying the lowest wage possible. Lowballing the employees doesn't work and never will although their are limits on just what a business can afford when you are competing with countries like China and Mexico. The days of twenty bucks an hr. for unskilled labor are long gone.
@westonsz THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WE MADE WAS DURRING THE ERA OF LETS EQUALIZE THE PEOPLE, INSTEAD OF PUTTING OUR BEST PEOPLE AHEAD RGARDLESS OF ANY RACE THING. WE PUT PEOPLE AHEAD BECAUSE OF RACE. AND IT AFFECTED MANUFACTUREING TOO. IM SKILLED (HIGHLY) AND I HAVE A VERY HARD TIME STAYING IN THE MACHINE TRADES , MOST OF THE COMPANYS IVE KNOWN FOR 25 YEARS ARE JUST GONE. FOREVER. I LOVED MY TRADE ,THEY KILLED IT.
The tough times have been good for the mentality of the Detroit area. Now people show up for work and do their jobs and are happy to have a job. You are right about the unions and their greed. Years ago I was called a company man and asked why I worked so hard by such people when all I was doing was the job I had agreed to do for the pay I had accepted to do it for. Some working people out there had fathers who taught them right about work.
@DUGTRUX It was neither. It was Detroits reliability on the Manufacturing industry (Phrase why in had almost 2 million people in the 1950's due the the Automobile boom) then in started declining then the reccesion comes along and shits get gets worse.
@SniperViper1000 no man i cant agree, it was N.A.F.T.A. When they realized they could just move it accross the border , all they had to do was appease the U.A.W. till they got it set up.. Ive been a job shop machinist for 25 years around Detroit and I saw it 1st hand. OK? and nobody did nothin
@DUGTRUX, You're a worthless fuck yourself. UAW etc. was necessary because the auto coprs. were making money hand over foot & not paying enough nor giving decent benefits. You know nothing. The auto corps. cut their own throats by moving too much of their ops out of Detroit & the USA in order to bust the unions, & the unions weren't busted but took pay & benefit cuts, but the too greedy auto corps still betrayed the Midwest etc. & the people of the USA.
@DUGTRUX , Don't shout by capitalizing little boy. I'm a white guy born & raised here, am quite educated etc. & you know little you stupid moron. The UAW had to take cuts in order to help keep the overly greedy auto corps. in business. Wages of union workers weren't inflated, but the wages of management & attorneys & the pharmaceutical & consequently the medical industries were. There are also many other causes & raesons for the present situation of the USA's & world economies.
@DUGTRUX, Quit shouting stupid, & STFU yourself. There is much more that occurred than what your peabrain can comprehend. I am near 60, have worked in factories etc., was in the military both active & reserves long before you were born, so go away little boy & have your fantasy tantrums elsewhere, but not around me or the lower eastside dumbhead.
@DUGTRUX, You're a major punk & continue to capitalize/shout dummy. You are a simple minded prejudiced jackass. You're a moron. Detroit's labor force was good & productive for many years. I worked in a large body part priming & painting shop & not for the Big 3 or 4. Many family members & friends worked for the Big 3. You are a PUNK ASS yourself.
@DUGTRUX, You knock Detroit & its people & say everyone here is a punk & we got what we deserved etc. You are a prime example of a misinformed & prejudiced butt wipe. I bet you didn't get along to well with your fellow workers Mr. Genius. You must be high-strung.
@DUGTRUX, You're degreed in 'manufacturing'? You mean manufacturing engineering or technology? Amazing. From the way you speak I would think you are degreed in stupidity & misinformation. The corporations & not the UAW etc. ruined the auto industry due to their mismanagement & failure to keep up with foreign products. Unions were & are needed to keep coprs. from running roughshod over workers & communities. Corporate greed etc. hurt more than anything.
@DUGTRUX, What does being in the military have to do with *it*? A lot. However, I am now & have been on 'light duty'. I used my GI Bill to attend college & better myself while I worked part & full time. Can you comprehend the realationship or personal pride? Probably you can't in your case.
@christof139 here ill give you what you want bitch, im typing with my pinky up. so who the fuck cares if i type in caps ? (ITS A CAD CAM THING) ALSO YOU SEEM NOT TO HAVE A LIFE , AND MANY PRECONCIEVED NOTIONS ABOUT UNIONS. so ill say this once, the UAW is a corrupt union, in big companys like GM there is a need to represent workers, in smaller shops that same union will destroy. you do not know this because you are ignorant. BUT I FORGIVE YOU, SO SHUT UP STUPID.
@DUGTRUX, You know nothing about me boy. Organized crime took control of many unions but it is less now. The need for unions was & is necessary in order to give the workers, both blue & white collar workers, a fair wage & decent benefits, which the corps. were very reluctant to do because of their greed. FMC under the first H. Ford was the best & most decent of the bunch, but when he died & control passed to his son & his chief security officer things became bad again. You are an IDIOT. SHUT UP
@DUGTRUX, Google: Ludlow massacre 1914, United Mine Workers, Flint sit-down strike, Battle of the Overpass, UAW, etc. You get a life moron. Some smaller shop owners are rotten, do not care about anyone except themselves, do not pay decent wages or provide decent benefits (due in large part to Pharmaceutical industry's exorborant prices & price hikes every year driving up medical cost across the board & insurance costs), etc. Forgive yourself for being a narrow-minded IDIOT that percieves little.
@DUGTRUX, Quit shouting PUNK. Not anyone believes your crud. All you an do is use crude language, which proves you are a cowardly punk & loser. Grow up boy.
@DUGTRUX wow, dude, you're passion is heartwarming...I feel your words man...let them eat cake, indeed, let them eat cake.......I feel for Detroit too...I've seen pics of it and movies of it from the 30's, man, what a vibrant city it was....I really feel bad for it...
The "worthless fucks" as you put it had a lot to do with it. Did they use those "fat paychecks" to make their community better or did they get homes, cars and personal lifestyles to burn through all that money and have nothing at the end? It is not a requisite to have lived on the streets to know how to avoid it. When a person has some money all it takes is being conservative, doing a little good for the community, knowing how to budget money and spending wisely. Solutions are there.
The richness and bitchedness (sexism... nice) of this woman at U of M has nothing to do with anything. YOU WOULD LEARN THAT IF YOU TOOK A CLASS AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
And, unions or no unions, American labor still wouldn't be able to compete with foreign labor. If you look at manufacturing jobs IN ALMOST EVERY SECTOR, they've been going south of the border or to Asia. Some of those countries (*cough* China *cough*) actually keep their labor ARTIFICIALLY low, so it's not like
@kives1985 I DID TAKE A COUPLE OF CLASSES.. AND I THINK I HAVE A WORTHLESS DEGREE. But the bottom line is it was N.A.F.T.A. and the reason we got that was the unions. It was big bizs anawer to the U.A.W. At that time communisim was seen to be a great evil. and the unions were seen to be communist. so Regan and the boys went after the unions. What those dumb fucks didnt realize was what would happen in 30 years. And labor in china is not artificially low. ITS SLAVE LABOR..
Well, why did you forget then? Why bring up the wealth and sex of a person making an argument? It's not fucking logical, and it's a fucking personal attack. It's stupid.
AND NAFTA was enacted because there's an economic theory, that's pretty orthodox, that states that more trade is better for everyone.
I don't think that NAFTA and other free trade agreements are BAD things, but people working manufacturing jobs are LOSERS when it comes to free trade.
Blaming the unions is just ignoring that reality. Michigan will never have the same amount of manufacturing jobs again, and that's NOT the unions' fault.
@DUGTRUX It wasnt socialism that ruined Detroit, it was good old fashioned AMERICAN GREED. A capitalist system gone awry...that guaranteed unheard of compensation and golden parachutes for worthless executive FUCKS...$2500 dollars an hour for a fat cat in a rich suit plus stock options? Vice Presidents that don't know how to read a P&L sheet, and those famous lines of "WHO BUILT THIS PIECE OF SHIT CAR?"...don't blame labor for layoffs, blame Wall Street.
@WaywardPatriot A handful of executives and their compensation of millions do not run companies out of business. The auto companies (GM, Ford, what's left of Chrysler) have unfunded union liabilities in the tens of billions, mostly in the form of health care. Why do Ford and GM UAW workers make almost twice as much as a worker at a Honda or Toyota plant in the US - the degree of unionization. Now, mgmt did agree to those contracts, so shame on them, but unions have outlived their usefulness
@hckyplyr90 Hey did you notice any price advantage with the Asian-American cars
NO they are more expensive so the low wages and low benifits are not helping the consumer are they? So who and where do the profits go I would say back to Asia
not USA . It is sad every one has the Walmart mindset and throws the American worker under the bus for price, well we now see the ultimate price in these videos.
@DUGTRUX ...Thats what i'm saying. somebody that can relate to a struggle. every politian we vote for. if they don't come from the struggle why vote for these people. thats why i like Obama, He knows what its like to struggle. He been there. them the people that get my vote
@DUGTRUX Yep, blame the unions. Corrupt unions played a supporting role, but the star was unregulated capitalism. Time and time again deregulation causes disasters in America. When will we learn? How hard is it to see that outsourcing, tax-loopholes, bailouts (too big to fail), and tax-payer subsidies, to corporations are a bad thing- at least as bad as corrupt unions.
@tstruss912 - unions built that city, corporate america and greedy politicians brought it down. Now there bringing down the entire country. Educate yourself on unions, they built this country and middle class. Search for a real shocking video - the triangle returns.
@jeffsandychelsea Of course bailouts and taxpayer subsidies are a part of unregulated capitalism. Deregulation only means that the gov lets corporations do what they want; it doesn't mean the gov won't give them free money. Bailouts and taxpayer subsidies are also a part of free-markets. What you have to understand about the REALITY of free-markets is that they are tyrannies ruled by the rich (who bribe politicians). Show me "free" market that doesn't work that way.
@tstruss912 In a truly free market, there is no government intervention whatsoever. Which means no subsidies or bailouts. Personally, I think we'd be better off without a government altogether, but THAT'S not going to catch on, is it?
@jeffsandychelsea That won't catch on because it's never worked, and given what we know about human nature (most of which comes from history) it can't work.. Even in small systems there is chaos when there is no power structure. There will always be a power structure in a functioning society, at least for the foreseeable future. The question is, "will we have a voice in it?". Right now we don't because we're not organized...
@DUGTRUX I'd be willing to bet that the economic factors behind Detroit's collapse are so complicated that people who devote their lives to studying markets can't even reach a consensus. I highly doubt you've managed to nail the cause with a 500-character Youtube comment, let alone fully understand it.
@pentherapy BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS!!! UNTILL YOU BEEN THERE DONT TALK AND DONT INSULT ME. you look at the theory of modern manufacturing , and youll se why it dosent work in Detroit.. You got a work force that was motivated by one thing, partyin. and back in the day the old sayin was god damn your red eyes,if you know how to do somethin you got a job...the world of first class manufacturing came in with 9001 ISO bullshit and it was not compatible with what was going on here.
@DUGTRUX The UAW is what made Detroit such a great place to live. Good wages, working conditions, nice houses. That's WHY people loved moving to Detroit. Because it had so many advantages. Maybe it helped in it's downfall, maybe it wasn't totally sustainable, but it MADE Detroit in the first place. And you can't avoid the fact that free trade assisted the outsourcing of Detroit jobs overseas. As usually, you're simplifying a complex political reality,
@njchampnj: No, obviously niggers are the epitome of aptitude, decency, responsibility, competence and, of course, smarts.
Being well-informed, you may have heard of 17-28 nigs molesting an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Texas (taping the whole sordid affair with their cell phones) which made headlines in the past few days, yes? Among what other randomly sampled group can you expect to find such behavior? Or maybe the approximately 100 young nigs who "flash" robbed a convenience store?
@DUGTRUX I couldn't agree more. These companies should never have allowed the Unions to do that to them. However, the other side of it is that ownership and management can be just as greedy and worthless, if not more so. Unions-I hate them, but they are needed, or at least they were in the industrial age. Now since we don't make anything anymore, I guess the whole country will end up like this eventually. Sad
@DUGTRUX So being a college student makes her a rich bitch? And who says that she was blaming the companies? I didn't see that in there. Oh wait, conservatives are always being the damn victim and swear up and down that the big bad evil professors and universities are conspiring against them.
4 to 80 blocks of housing classifies as a neighborhood; 41 Detroit neighborhoods were built with no running water by 1950; and sold to hard working whites They learned this was trashy, but at least they were in a segrated white place, until the 1976 Fair Housing Law. "Ouch, A colored lady moved in down the st., gotta run cuz I got a dirty secret; an out house in the back & and daily delievery truck for water. Lets blame the new Black Mayor instead!" Old Detroiters can fib too

These parties have come undone since we elected the first brown-skinned president in US history, as unbelievable as that may sound.
dpjaexp 10 months ago
@dpjaexp are you seriously trying to make the argument that the President's race had anything to do with the decline of the auto industry? Or that Nazi's control the Republican party? I don't usually respond to trolls, but I can't let this one go
flythegadsden 10 months ago

@astaeusernamemeu Big Auto, Big Oil, the Military Industrial complex, racism, organized crime and deliberately disorganized civil authority in the pay of all of the aforementioned policy. GM, Detroit's pride and joy, was headed by Alfred Sloan, a Nazi collaborator, decorated by the SS. Henry Ford wrote a book called 'The International Jew'. Detroit is the birthplace of the campaign to destroy our nation's electric street railways and corrode urban life in the United States.

We need that tax base.
westonsz 1 year ago

In Michigan some have been collecting unemployment for 2 years plus now so yes it would make sense to bring the jobs back and let the people work.
westonsz 1 year ago
@DeserTBoB93535

@DeserTBoB93535
I deserve a job if I am willing to work, otherwise I don't deserve one.
westonsz 1 year ago
@westonsz It's good you do realize that. By the way, I've known many UAW (and IBEW, CWA, IEU, AFA, BofLE, UTU and other assorted workers) about 95% of hard working, reliable, honest people. 10% are idiots that you alllude to, but that is MANAGEMENT'S fault if they're still around. Even with the toughest union, documentation and supervision can get any slacker terminated. Not so for the idiot corporate goon or the Wall St. thief...there are no checks and balances on him, at all.

I chose to put myself through college while showing up for work everyday and worked my way up. For me there was no mommy and daddy college scholarship or next in line UAW free opportunity. I've worked for what I have. I don't spend life waiting for others to do something for me I do it for me.

DUGTRUX 1 year ago
@DUGTRUX I'm doing my best to save their jobs so things don't get worse. The problems are caused by the entitlement mentality of workers combined with wall street cooking of the books corporate greed mentality. People have to accept the idea of going to work and doing the job day in day out. When I hit the workforce 20 years agon the majority did nothing but complain. We all choose to work or not work for a company. To beat China employees and the company must join forces.
westonsz 1 year ago
@DUGTRUX I do my best to convince the ignorant suits the value of the working people and that you can't run a high level manufacturing company with highly skilled working people paying the lowest wage possible. Lowballing the employees doesn't work and never will although their are limits on just what a business can afford when you are competing with countries like China and Mexico. The days of twenty bucks an hr. for unskilled labor are long gone.

The tough times have been good for the mentality of the Detroit area. Now people show up for work and do their jobs and are happy to have a job. You are right about the unions and their greed. Some working people out there had fathers who taught them right about work.

Some of those countries (*cough* China *cough*) actually keep their labor ARTIFICIALLY low, so it's not like
kives1985 1 year ago

WaywardPatriot 1 year ago
@WaywardPatriot A handful of executives and their compensation of millions do not run companies out of business. The auto companies (GM, Ford, what's left of Chrysler) have unfunded union liabilities in the tens of billions, mostly in the form of health care. Why do Ford and GM UAW workers make almost twice as much as a worker at a Honda or Toyota plant in the US - the degree of unionization. Now, mgmt did agree to those contracts, so shame on them, but unions have outlived their usefulness

Personally, I think we'd be better off without a government altogether, but THAT'S not going to catch on, is it?
jeffsandychelsea 9 months ago

@DUGTRUX LOL if someone offered me $25.00 an hour for driving a forklift, I'd Never miss a workday! I could fund my movie and have a giganitc stereo!

@njchampnj: The auto industry is what made Detroit such a great place to live. Niggers and the UAW tore the city down.

@tommy9922 You are just the semblance of reason and education, now aren't you?
njchampnj 11 months ago
@njchampnj: No, obviously niggers are the epitome of aptitude, decency, responsibility, competence and, of course, smarts.
Being well-informed, you may have heard of 17-28 nigs molesting an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Texas (taping the whole sordid affair with their cell phones) which made headlines in the past few days, yes? Among what other randomly sampled group can you expect to find such behavior? Or maybe the approximately 100 young nigs who "flash" robbed a convenience store?

@tommy9922 LoL I love how you group people together.
Black people aren't one entity you nut job.
What another black person does has nothing to do with how I live.

Why not build more automotive plants there? If someone tries to rob you just offer them a job there... Fuck, I'd take it.
