Worked in a chevy shop as an apprentice. This is how the mechanics do it. Just loosen the bolts on one side, disconnect the other side, lift the unbolted side of the bed, and lift. Be sure to use a wooden block or prop in case your hoist or lift breaks/ slips.
Another trick is the make a X with tie down traps, then lift the whole ting off the frame and back with the engine hoist so you don't have it looming over your head..lol Had to do the one in my wifes s10 one day when it was frigging 15 degrees outside. and I couldn't get it moved into the garage.
I made an X and lifted mine entire box off aswell.
