  • thanks for teaching us NICE VIDEO!

  • Glad you enjoyed it, thanks. :)

  • Sorry to say, it looks like there will not be NHL 10 for the Wii. The EA press release says PS3 and Xbox 360 only. As for 2k10, I can't find anything. Hope someone hears something else. I like this game a lot, but I was hoping for some better graphics this year (Wii is my only system). If not, I guess I can do this one for one more year.

  • Yeah I saw that too, it's definetly not looking too likely. Big mistake on EA's part.

I still expect 2K10 to come out this year, as there is a lot they could improve upon over last years game.

  • After posting, I did some further research. 2k games was a big sponsor at the All Star Game, and there are interviews from the pre game festivities that say NHL 2k10 for Wii is in development. I hope it comes to pass...

  • look around for a decent pc, they can sometimes be cheaper than consoles and still run great graphics and are perfect for games like fifa and nhl

  • evilc44 the reebok pad cheat it never works because its suppose to be playaspremierlllgoalipads but the lll what is it?

  • good graphics ?

  • thank for teaching

  • Pretty Good Review in overall, And if you want the gameplay to go faster put it on "Pro" Because it ups the realistic part. you dont need to hold the cursor on a person to pass all you have to do is press "A" But it gets annyoing when you pass and you try to pass again instead of doing a double pass and your guy dumps it in your own zone!

  • Where can you get the cheat codes for it? I could only find two.

  • does it hav online

    ty

  • Nope. This year's version probably will.

  • Awesome, when is you next review? I bet its gonna be great!

  • Thanks a lot.

I'm working on a couple reviews right now, so expect another soon fairly soon. :)

  • Vey good review. You are one of the best reviewers i have heard. Anyone else who doesnt know about the alternate jerseys try typing this in the codes.

    R6y34bsH52

  • thankyou very much for this review. helped me alot

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

  • Solid review. Thanks a bunch. Are the graphics of this game really worse than 06 on Gamecube, though?

  • Thanks a lot. Even though I'm not happy how this review turned out, I'm glad some have found it enjoyable. :)

Yes, I honestly belive they are. They only really focused on the controls for this version, and while they got those down quite good, graphics and overall polish took a big step back, which is a common trend in Wii efforts. I would assume next years version will be a far better overall product, so rent if you're curious, cause it is really fun, just don't buy, and wait for 2009. :)

  • whats motion plus ???? i havent seen it on any of my games i dont think?

  • It's a device that'll enable more accurate motion control. Go to wikipedia and type in wii motion plus, you'll get all the info.

  • I think I'm just going to sell my game, I want to play an NHL game that has use with the classic controller. Nhl2k10 or NHL 10 ill wait for. I haven't heard a review with a good score either.

  • Great review, I was working on one myself!

What editing program do you use, because Im trying to edit a video but like, WMM doesnt take MPEG$ video files and I dont want to convert them all It takes too long, please answer!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you. :)

Well I actually only started doing these videos a few months ago, so up until now I've only been using WMM. I figured to just stick with WMM in case I didn't like making them. Now that I know I like doing this, I plan to invest in a much better program. I hear that Adobe Premier is one of the best for WIndows users.

  • Well that is why I told people to wait until next year because 2K10 will likely be better, and EA will likely bring their game to Wii also.

But while I agree that the graphics should be much better and no online hurts too, you're very wrong about the controls. It is not just mindless waggle. You don't see me doing that in my demo. The IR passing works very well, and flicking your wrist to shoot feels very natural and it works every single time. Only the fighting needs refining.

  • I feel sorry for Wii owners that only get to play this piss poor of a hockey game. The graphics in this game look worse then NHL 2K3 for GCN, the controls are just waggle, waggle, waggle, and it doesn't even have online. NHL 09 has fucking online leagues like a hockey MMORPG, and even patches to fix up the weakspots of its gameplay.

Basically hockey fans on Wii aren't getting what they deserve for for waiting 2 damn years for an NHL game.

  • u didnt tell us how to switch to goalie mode. can u please tell me on my homepage?? thanks!!

  • Everyone, you can switch to the goalie at any time by pressing 1.

Oh btw, thanks for watching. :)

  • try using backward skate when on offense.

  • hi nice reveiw anyways i subscribed was wondering if u could to my channel thanks

  • Hey thanks a lot, although looking back on this review, there's some thing I wasn't too happy with. Fortunately my newest review, Samba de Amigo turned out MUCH better, but I'm still glad you liked it. :)

  • this game looks good when from a close up perspective

  • The Wii can definetly put out a lot more then what this game shows. I expect 2K sports to really step up their effort next year.

Oh and thanks a lot for subscribing to me.

  • it's called checking... not tackling... and why do u just flick ur wrist to shoot.... it's more fun actually shooting like you have a real stick...

  • Yes I know it's called bodychecking, not tackling, hockey is afterall my favourite sport. I already corrected myself above, it was a simple slip up while being in the moment.

Well that's the beauty of the Wii, you can make as big or as small of a gesture as you wish. I was quite happy with a simple flick motion, but if you wanna really wind up your arm and nail it, you can do that as well. ;)

  • Well, with such little footage of NHL 06 around, I didn't get to compare how the goalies acted, I didn't even think to check that TBH. I was mostly focused on their respective graphics, and NHL 06 is the better looking game from what I could tell. I usually don't like compairing games to each other unless I've played both thoroughly, but in this case, direct-feed clips alone proved that 06 looks better, and its 3 years older. >:(

Thanks a lot for watching and subbing, hope you enjoyed it. :)

  • but i disagree with you, NHL 06's goalie animations were lame, but you do make very good points.

  • I bought this today, It's an awesome game.

  • Glad you're enjoying it, man. Dispite it's flaws, I've had a really fun time with it, but sadly I must return it to blockbuster soon.

  • i like NHL2k9 it was just fun in all ways but i dont play sports games a whole lot so this game made me happy.

  • Hey, I'm glad you liked the game, ashdk2185. I rarely play sports games myself either, tho I'm a big fan of the Mario strikers games (cause I also love soccer) But I'd like to try and get into hockey games again. This game is quite fun, it's just rough around the edges. Hopefully next year we get a more refined version.

    Thanks for watching. :)

  • So has your copy of NHL 2K9 been magically deleting save files too? My copy has deleted franchise mode 4 times on me now in 4 different scenarios. It's made going more than a couple of months into a season virtually impossible unless you don't intend on ever shutting down your wii. Even then, it amazingly deleted itself immediately after saving an update. I'm getting pretty sick of 2K sports and their shit quality. My NHL 2K3 would not only delete itself but corrupted my whole memory card once.

  • Hmm, I havn't noticed the file deleting, but I have in fact noticed that the save file keeps screwing up. It'll attempt to save data, but won't, then it'll tell me something like "could not save data to wii system memory. Save failed"

This is surprising and very frustrating. Had I noticed it sooner, I would have mentioned it in the review. This is a serious flaw.

Even 2K3 had this deleting issue? Damn, whats wrong with them? >:-(

  • Hey stedaman, I see that you saw the post over on Gonintendo. :)

Thanks a lot. I figured that when reviewing Wii games, people would much rather see exactly how you perform the motions, and not just read text describing them. I plan to do this a lot more down the road with other Wii games. (didn't bother with gyrostarr since it only uses tilt)

Thanks again man, and I hope you catch my next review planned for next week.

  • Very big question... couldent really tell but is there a crowd or is it just a black void... out of all the videos iv watched it seems like there is no crowd... Im still wondering about buying it simply for the mutiplayer... can you create your own team/ players... lemme know thnx

  • DjHard, you can indeed make your own player as well as your own team, I've tried it myself.

There is indeed a crowd, not just an empty void, but it's a flat 2D crowd, they aren't 3D. I hope that helps you out.

Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it.

  • Nice job explaining the controls.

    GL with your next review.

  • Nice job, man!

  • Hey dude, thanks a lot! :)

  • Cool. I'm a huge hockey fan and all I own is a Wii (well, and a decent laptop), but I decided to pass up on the title. I just find it ridiculous, especially, that there is no online, and the presentation looks pretty dated to me. I really hope EA brings NHL 2010 next year as you said. Good review, a lot of double-takes and pauses but I assume you're new at it so you can only get better!

  • Yep, this was a good first effort and it's pretty fun, but next years games are bound to be a lot better.

I'm glad you liked the video, and I'm trying to keep the pauses down at much as possible, though since I stutter it's not something I have control over, plus being new to reviewing doesn't help, but I enjoy making these, and appartently so do you guys, so I'll press onward and do my best to improve. :)

    Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • You're exactly right, man. I noticed after that I said "tackle" instead of "bodycheck" (and hockey is my favourite sport, btw :P) but after a bunch of takes, that was the best one. Playing the game, thinking what to say, while trying to not let the A.I. mess with me was a lot harder then it looks.

Yeah IGN did say that, but they're correct, and even NHL 06 looks better, I checked myself. It's not awful, it just needs more polish.

THX a lot for subbing and commenting, glad you liked it. :D

  • So what will your other review be of?

  • Well G0ud, I originally wanted it to be a surprise, but since it's only a week away, I'll reveal it now.

My "at least" second September game will be the wiimake of Samba de Amigo. :)

I say at least because there is a lot of stuff coming out in the 2nd half of September, and Samba isn't the only game I want to buy next week, but since Samba will probably be fairly quick to review, I may be able to squeeze another game in this month, but for now I'll keep those a secret. ;)

  • Good review, I subscribed. A few things though ( i hate to do this:P) well I was a huge hockey fan so i got it of course, Its called "BodyCheck" instead of tackle Sorry i Had to say it:P Also I thought the graphics were decent and the reflections were cool. People only say 2K3 cuase IGN said it and that really bugs me. Also the menus suck eh? but great review.
