  • I was fortunate enough to hear the Moodies perform this live at the Manchester College of Commerce. Far better than the Animals version. But then I am biased.

  • Really great stuff. Thanks YET again!

  • This song is my personal anthem...and this particular rendition is my favorite. I would love to hear the Moody Blues perform this song in concert again.

  • Cannot imagine Eric Burdon doing NIWS at all, just love this version by thge Moodies, Brilliant

  • Justin can sure put a spin on a song - like velvet - Wow - at 1:19 to1:30 ! There's just something in his voice, ( He still has it.) How can he do that?

  • this is both good and awkward... the best is the flute after chorus.. just makes it so moody blues... now can u imagine eric burden singing nights in white satin?...

  • I wanted to thank you for this rare song of the Moodies. This copy sounds better then the one I have. :-) Great Video.

  • @MoodiesFan

Very many thanks for your kind comments,I'm pleased that you enjoyed this great song from the Moodies,,,,,,,cheeers,,,,,,Mick :-))

  • Wow, this is SOOOOO cool. I like hearing Justin's voice in this way. He makes this song seem less "down" and more sensual. Or maybe that's just the way Justin's voice is. Naturally sensual. :)

  • Their version is definitely my favorite.

I can't believe that this is the only post I've seen on here for this song!

    Thanks for posting!

  • @moodybluesbaby67

  • @laila1550

Thank you very much Laila,I'm glad you enjoyed this old one from the Moody Blues,,,Mick :)

  • Awesome Mick! I have seen them twice in the last few years when they toured in the US. They are an Amazing band of talented musicians! One of my Favorites! There new stuff is just as good as the wonderful music of their past. That say's something about their talent! Their Christmas album is incredible! No one will ever match The Animals version of this song and I am sure the Moodies were not trying to. Thanks so much for posting this! I have never heard it before. Really Cool! Thanks!

    Jim

  • @nipsterstang

Looks like I found a good one for you here then Jim ! lol

I'm pleased you enjoyed this oldie from the Moodies,I'll get back to you with a PM in a few minutes,,or so !

    Mick :)

  • @nipsterstang I never knew the MB's did this, not too bad, a credible job. Like you say, it's usually associated with the Animals, with the classic Eric Burdon vocals. I guess this was their early in between period, where they first inherited the blues mantle of the earlier version of the band with the departing Denny Laine. They definitely came of age with their first LP with Justin Hayward and John Lodge on Days of Future Passed, featuring Tuesday Afternoon and Nights in White Satin.

  • Never heard another version of this song, they did it good but Eric Burdons voice is overwhelming on this one, still like the Animal´s better, Thanks for the post! Mick

    Rick

  • @bios36

Hiya Rick, have to agree that Eric's version is the best, but this version was on a live radio show, with limited equipment, 43 years ago ! lol

    Maggan

  • @Magryd3344

Hi Maggan, this song was recorded first by Nina Simone in '64 and the Animals covered it in '65,it was a big hit for them !

I cannot believe you don't know the Moody Blues, they were formed in my hometown,Birmingham, around '63/'64 and had a no. 1 with "Go Now" in '65.

The song most people will associate with them is "Nights in White Satin" from '67,but it has been re-released several times !

Hope this helps you remember them, many thanks for viewing,,,,Mick :)))

  • Mick are they your friends? That's cool! Nights In White Satin is one fabolous love song! And this is also a good song from Moody Blues.
