My sump pump caused a breaker to trip in my house repeatedly and blew the circuit . The electrician noted by sump pump needed replaced. This video helped me be alittle more specific in my questions about what kind was best.
Your demonstration of the pumps "head" is unfortunately a bit misleading in that the flow you demonstrate is in part due to the fact that your piping extends down most of the height of the head. Therefore after the water first gets to the top, there is an increase in the flow as the water starts down the closed piping due to the siphon effect while water remains in the downward portion of the pipe. The head in this case is simply the distance between the intake and the exit point of the water.
Well done and thorough. thank you. i live on an underground spring, I would have liked to have you comment on the life-expectancy of the average sump pump as mine seems to fail about every 5 years. without an alarm system on it, the basement usually has to flood before we discover the sump pump had expired.
Thanks for the video, it has so great info! Our sump pump just failed and all of the snow is melting around our house. The sump pit is filling slowly but surely. We ran to menards and got a Simer 3/4 HP that can pump 5150 gallons per hour... I hope to hell it will work well!
Thanks Josh, too bad plastic pumps with pressure switches and plastic bottom screens are the lowest rated for sump pump installations.
