See...EVE, especially when it comes to hunting down other players, is about risk assessment. If a battle cruiser encounters a hostile flagged frigate, odds are, the frigate will warp out. Sure, there are variables you could throw in to that scenario, but you get my example. When you get a chance to take out hostiles, more firepower is often better. Often people will overestimate their enemies strength. It just makes sense. When you want to win, you will do everything in your power to make it so.

Oh no, don't me wrong. I love caldari simply because Missles and shields are my two favorite factors in a ship. But even though I do hate the rounded, organic shape to Gallente ship. But certain Caldari ships, like the Moa, raven, and the Ewar frigate are just some good examples of how over-asymeticallity can really ruin a ship design. However, like you said with the domi, sometimes the ugly ones kick the most arse.
