Ouch, you guys get hammered on Insurance. Costing me $800/yr (£350) for full comp on a gti-6 with engine mods, yes fully comprehensive for a year. Can't believe what they charge you.

Anyway, great vid and kickarse car, I live at the bottom of a mountain road and owning one of these and taking it around there is just incredibly enjoyable.

i'm thinking of buying one too. never driven one personally but own a 1.6 pug 306. from what i've heard from friends they pull like a bastard! 167bhp as standard you can't complain. just a heads up, in the UK they're getting harder and harder to find with low mileage and in good condition. not sure about sweeden though.

Yeah 167 bhp is alot for such a comparatively light-weight car, I guess. No, most of them have high milage. But I have set my eyes on a gol-metallic (or whtas the name?!) that has gone around 80000 km. They look so sweet these cars. A real gti. Wonderful.

the gold is called Sunblaze Yellow. 80k km is good, about 60 oddk miles? make sure you change the cambelt and water pump straight away as they tend to be a common problem, also modify the headgasket, get it skimmed, etc, as they also cause problems. and listen out for bent tappets, it will sound like a sewing machine when you rev, increasing as you rev harder, this problem will cost you a lot to fix so best to leave it if it's tapping.

Defo get a gti 6, skint ya sen for insurance,im 20 and cost me 2300. And make sure u leave ya sen with atleast £50 a week in petrol, cuz these fkers drink fuel. I had about 3 306 DTURBO's but then i got me gti, and they are a complete differnt car, i got a mg zr TD also and i never wana drive it, GET A PUG GTI-6 ull love it....

yeh, i ve got a 306 dturbo for my first car looks like the red one in the video above. they have bit heavy clutches but go fast for a first car. ive done the injector pump and turbo on mine to 18 psi and i am gettin 0-60 in about 9 seconds but standard they will do it in about 10 seconds. they are very economical 45-50 mpg and do not cost much to insure (only group 5!!)

I have a standard D-turbo as well, great first car. Wipes the floor with most corsas and other first cars. Standard 0-60 is 13.3 seconds according to the handbook.

When you do Craig, get a stage 1 Allard tune and free flow airfilter and pipe for it. My mpg improved dramatically and the engine's a lot more pokey as well as being smoother running. The best average I've managed is 61.5 mpg. Not bad with today's diesel prices !

Thanks for all the comments on my video guys. I made this on for a final major project for my degree, and it got a 1st, so was quite pleased :) To answer a few q's.. the song is a mix the Chemical Bros did for the Gran Turismo computer game. Lovely car mate. Had one in Diablo red but always wanted a blaze yellow! Sadly I crashed mine at about 75mph into a lampost.

Look after it and don't forget the cambelt change at 60k :)
