What you see in this video is just the tip of the iceberg. The sheer size of this things mind boggling. I promise you this thing covers the land mass of Texas.
This video, nor any other, doesn't show the other part of this structure that's clear across Greenland to the west. This object has more structure than you see here. google earth pictures are taken at different times and this seems to be ligthen differently that's all (sunset for exemple). When you unzoom (don't know if this word exists...) you can see other marks due to different lightening but in grey...
@FrappaDingue26 Yes you are right. Satellites image the Earth in strips, using different filters, then they use software to recombine the strips into a complete picture. Sometimes glitches occur and, to make up for those empty areas, they fill in with images from different times.
@peshantu Yes they can, when they're stitching together thousands of photographs taken by orbital satellites. This is nothing more than a section of greenland photographed when the landmass was not frozen and incorrectly stitched to the next section when the Google Earth image of Greenland was being assembled. There are several other little errors like this all over the Google Earth map.

The 'object' you are seeing is nothing more than the surface of Greenland appearing from beneath the melting ice cap. If you move northwest across Greenland, over to the western coastline you will see an area twice the size with exactly the same color, texture and pattern.
The black square is nothing more than an area of no data, though it remains a mystery as to why it's the only black square in all of Google Earth.
Oh, and I supposed you've been to Greenland to see it yourself?
Why don't you take a look at the satellite images that Google used when they originally put the map of Greenland together? You will see that the entire ice sheet is drenched in a bright-orange sunset and that area is clearly visible with the same features showing.
Either the ice has melted in that area or the angle of the sun made the ice sheet look transparent.
The area near the object in question is littered with mountain peaks that run along the entire east coast of Greenland. Ice in those areas can be as thin as a few hundred feet and the angle of the sun often reveals details under the ice at certain vantage points. The following Wikipedia image of the mountains nearby this mysterious object will help to explain what I'm talking about...
@radionactive Ok, I see what your talking about but instead of it being under the ice it looks more like the light from the sun reflecting off the of the side of the mountains, because like you said the images are taken at different times so it could have been taken during sunrise or sunset.
That supposed 'object' is a feathered satellite image tile that was taken at a completely different time of the day/year than the rest of Greenland. In fact, the Google Earth image of Greenland is composed of hundreds of square, round, curved, striated and polygonal image tiles.
You want to know why? Because there are no survey satellites that orbit directly over Greenland. Most of the images in that part of the world are distorted and out of perspective.

Google earth is made from thousands of photo strips that are pieced together. The satellite makes several swings over a given area at different times of day and weather conditions. What we have here is a mosaic with two different times . one was closer to sunset. it happens all over the globe map only because it's all white it's much more noticable

None of the lay lines or mosaics explain the sharp edge at the top. and the peering through the clouds from Beneath at the bottom. It seems to be a continuous fly by pass. I am stumped.

I just found this myself and looked on here to see what others thought. Looks like the sunset in some of the shots that were pasted on google. Looks just like topography I'd expect of a mountain, only it has alpine glow in it. NO biggie. But the big missing spot to the side of it is what I was wondering about. Its a big black bar.

2 photos pasted one at mid day one at evening possibly different dates entirely. The satellites can only take photos so many miles across so multiple images make up areas. This is 50 miles long by 7 miles deep just a photo anomaly.
I think it is 2 photos glued together, on one shot the mountain got lighted by the sun (going up or down, hence the orange-y glow) and the other shot is just with the sun standing high in the sky. The white fogginess on the underside could be explained by clouds, which are usually edited out, but since it is snow, it would be hard to distinguish one from another. So it could be a mountain peeking above the clouds?

Things to point out:
1. Definately not a glitch
(I stumbled upon this 2 years back and with all the google updates... its still here)
2. If you zoom in as close as you can you can clearly see that it is planks of wood.
3. The structure looks much like a boat half frozen in ice.
4. If it was a boat, then what is the red line? That would be called the bow line and its use is if water goes up that your in danger.
5. The black and brown mis colors are from when it rubbed up against mountains.

@ghantonful Theres nothing there. Ive been there in the exact place in 1999. Nothing but gently rolling snow fields just like 99% of the rest of the country. It has to be a photographic anomaly as there is no other possibility. Anyway, how could a boat get there?

It surely looks artificial like Photoshop.Maybe it's a Red Herring ( okay it's orange brown ),that is to say that this is maybe just another thing keeping us distracted from real secrets. I'm not saying that it is a red herring though. It is more like food for thought. The 'object' you are seeing is nothing more than the surface of Greenland appearing from beneath the melting ice cap. If you move northwest across Greenland, over to the western coastline you will see an area twice the size with exactly the same color, texture and pattern.
The black square is nothing more than an area of no data, though it remains a mystery as to why it's the only black square in all of Google Earth.

Why don't you take a look at the satellite images that Google used when they originally put the map of Greenland together? You will see that the entire ice sheet is drenched in a bright-orange sunset and that area is clearly visible with the same features showing.
Either the ice has melted in that area or the angle of the sun made the ice sheet look transparent.
Next time, go and do some fricken research first!

The area near the object in question is littered with mountain peaks that run along the entire east coast of Greenland. Ice in those areas can be as thin as a few hundred feet and the angle of the sun often reveals details under the ice at certain vantage points. The following Wikipedia image of the mountains nearby this mysterious object will help to explain what I'm talking about...

@radionactive Ok, I see what your talking about but instead of it being under the ice it looks more like the light from the sun reflecting off the of the side of the mountains, because like you said the images are taken at different times so it could have been taken during sunrise or sunset.

That supposed 'object' is a feathered satellite image tile that was taken at a completely different time of the day/year than the rest of Greenland. In fact, the Google Earth image of Greenland is composed of hundreds of square, round, curved, striated and polygonal image tiles.
You want to know why? Because there are no survey satellites that orbit directly over Greenland. Most of the images in that part of the world are distorted and out of perspective.

Google earth is made from thousands of photo strips that are pieced together. The satellite makes several swings over a given area at different times of day and weather conditions. What we have here is a mosaic with two different times . one was closer to sunset. it happens all over the globe map only because it's all white it's much more noticable

None of the lay lines or mosaics explain the sharp edge at the top. and the peering through the clouds from Beneath at the bottom. It seems to be a continuous fly by pass. I am stumped.

I just found this myself and looked on here to see what others thought. Looks like the sunset in some of the shots that were pasted on google. Looks just like topography I'd expect of a mountain, only it has alpine glow in it. NO biggie. But the big missing spot to the side of it is what I was wondering about. Its a big black bar.

on flashearth dot and then com, they have satellite maps that don't show a damn thing in this area. Which is suspect. No matter how much you zoom in it's clear white, no shades at all. Clearly there IS something there. Even if the straight side of the thing is a cut between two image patches, what about the colors and the clouds/ice covering the thing gradually at the ends?

2 photos pasted one at mid day one at evening possibly different dates entirely. The satellites can only take photos so many miles across so multiple images make up areas. This is 50 miles long by 7 miles deep just a photo anomaly.

I think it is 2 photos glued together, on one shot the mountain got lighted by the sun (going up or down, hence the orange-y glow) and the other shot is just with the sun standing high in the sky. The white fogginess on the underside could be explained by clouds, which are usually edited out, but since it is snow, it would be hard to distinguish one from another. So it could be a mountain peeking above the clouds?
