  • 4:55

  • Get Goallllll!

  • 2:02 best

  • @j00ztube This has been my phone's ringtone for years!

  • i want to bring this game (Virtua Formula 8-player link cabinet) to the bowling here in my town! it will be a total success!

    VIRTUA RACING FTW!!!!

  • Isn't the intro music from the Mega Drive version featured in the arcade one then? I always though it was.

  • @LarryBundyJr No, the arcade music plays nothing during attract.

  • @LarryBundyJr

The intro music found in the Genesis/Mega Drive port was console-exclusive. It also became an unused track in the Sega Saturn port.

  • 3 people have bad aim.

  • Guys.. I hate to admit it but I'm having a terrible time deciding if.. if I should GO or not..

  • Name entry is the best

  • 0:30 - 1:47

    I came.

  • My favourites are select and the lap 3 at 6:08

  • Don't forget to tie something to the other end of the line in case by accident you let it go.

One of my (not so smart) friends did precisely that, but what he did next completely flabbergasted me.

He actually went to the attendant to demand his rigged coin back!

I don't know what happened next because I legged it and never went back.

  • We played this game at university a lot. At a dollar a game it was getting too expensive so I decided to cheat. I drilled a hole in the middle of a coin and tied it to a length of fishing line.

The $2 coin worked better the the $1 coin, being heavier I guess.

The rigged coin wouldn't go in the slot without help, but with a flick of the finger down it went.

Getting the coin back out was the problem. My mate did it first, but with practice we could all get the coin out nearly every time.

  • Anyone knows how to enable music during the "coin wait" thing ? Because that music is really good ans it's a shame it doesn't play in MAME, I think it's a dip switch that's waiting to be activated but how do you activate it ? I haven't figured a way to change the dip switches yet, MAME doesn't show the dip switch menu like it does with most games....

  • @Quartrez

No dipswitches for "Virtua Racing" -- in MAME, the default key mapped to the Test Switch is F2. Press it, and the on-screen navigation instructions are relatively clear (the key mapped to VR1 highlights an item, and the key mapped to VR4 selects it).

As for the real deal, link two to eight machines together, and when you start any one machine, "Wait Coin" will play on all machines. MAME has no known link support.

The dipswitches only affect the wheel's force feedback settings.

  • TIME BONER!!

  • LOL THERE'S A TIME BONER EVERYTIME U PASS THE Child.Porn.

  • R O FREAKING L!

  • Why did i get downvited?

u do get a time bonus going trhough CP.... lol

  • @Xstatic112

at random times in my life this game gives me a time boner in my head especially the 32x version!

but i remember the first time i played this game in circus circus in lasvegas in 92 with like 5 player link and a extra tv on top of the arcade with a palygon announcer announcing the race...

    oh thankyou jesus!

  • I never liked how this game didn't play music the entire time you were racing, especially since the sound flourishes for the time extensions are so good. It may have been too taxing on the CPU to have sound the whole time, but what do I know.

  • Pause at 3:33: the red and white car on the right has a blue shadow.

  • It's not shadow. It's just a clash of polygons.

  • I remember this so well!!! oh memories....I hated everytime I heard "Go Go!!!"...it made me nervous!!!

but this is so cool!! wish I still had Sega Genesis...

  • Modern MD/GEN emulators support SVP, so you can play VR MD.

  • 2:41 is the best song

it would make a good house mix

  • awesome music btw,we need this on VC or sega needs to make a new console for all the arcade greats or collections that don't involve ps2,i don't really like ps2 cause im a classic gamer and prefer consoles like DC saturn snes genesis etc,i rather play mario then jak and dax or gta or devil may cry,so no ps2 for me.ps3 is just fine btw.sega on sega is best.

  • This sounds like it's arranged from some album. Is it?

  • sega was sick in the arcades, why werent they at home?.

  • There coin-op hardware was always way more powerful, plus the AM R&D departments were some of the most talented developers in the history of the industry.

  • i doubt that by a little i don't know if a yboard or x board could could do the rimple effect used in batman returns for sega cd,that game was technically impressive colour wise lame and tame.

  • while Sega had it's share of successes, Nintendo had most of the gaming industry by the balls at the time. then came Sony to duke it out with Nintendo and Sega

  • true, and then came microsoft made pentiums with tv outputs,i really give a shit bout microsoft and they're home consoles.wow gears of war(boring) wow doa(tities) wow forza(cool but rally game).if you have a ps3 why would you need a xbox?.

  • I don't know if this track is in the normal version, but this game was released in an arcade pack for PS2 and the option menu song is really good.

  • is there a way to emulate a twin cabinet in mame and im sure the wait coin music loops

  • it's a shame i never played the original arcade version. my cpu is probably not powerful enough to emulate it on MAME.

  • SegaSonic works on my first-generation Pentium 4 and i think Virtua Racing uses the same hardware.

  • 1:48!!!!!

  • 3:47

  • the game over tune on the genesis version sounds really bad if you ever heard it. complete lack of voice clarity.

  • I'm really familiar with the Genesis music and I love love love it, but hadn't heard the original arcade stuff - they obviously had more range in terms of sounds.
