  • @partyanimal231 There's quite a few windmills on Ebay.

You would have to be highly skilled ,with plenty of time and tools to make one from plans, best to buy manufactured unit.

  • nice wind mill, whats its diameter and how deep is the water below it?..

  • Hi David,Thankyou.

The water source is a spring out of the ground,

about level with the waterpump at the bottom of the tower(spring is approx 20 meters away).

The diameter of the turbine is 7 feet(2.13M).

    Regards,

    Brett.

  • thanks for the reply.

And how much water does it pull up. Flow per second?

I'm building one of a diameter of 1,2 meters, though it is only for watering a back yard so I don't need so much water, do you think 1,2 meters its ok?

  • Hi David,

It pumps approx 5 litres per minute in a light breeze (83cc per second).

Even for your situation 1.2 M is too small,I wouldn't go smaller than 1.5 at least .

A real small windmill needs more than a light breeze to do any work ,like pumping water.

It would only work on a windy sort of day.

    Regards,

    Brett.

  • Why Hi Marg and Bayne, how have you been?

I thought this neat little movie you took that time was

better on here than collecting dust on the shelf.

Did you see the mussel shell windmill too?

    Chat to you soon,

    Regards,Brett.

  • Hi Brett Baynes mate found this so we went looking and found out about youtube
