Had this album and the original Daniel Amos (still have this one). Loaned Shotgun Angle to a teenage and never got it back. Tried everywhere to get another copy in the lat few years but no luck. Any ideas?
Ah, grrrrrreat!! I'm still looking for Shotgun Angel and the other album from the same era, i guess it was the self-titled.... any idea where i can get one?
"Shotgun Angel" is one of the most creative and influential Christian rock albums of the 1970's. Used to love this record on 8-track back when I was just 3 to 4 years old back in 1980-81. They were one of my mom's favorites when she became born again in 1978, them and Sweet Comfort. But her true favorite was Keith Green!
I saw DA in concert at Calvery Chapel Santa Ana around the late '70's, early '80's. It was after the news of a new album (Horrendous Disk). That was were I heard I Love You #19 for the first time. They lead into the song with a 2-3 minute melow guitar part. When they then broke into the intro with both drummers playing, the crowd went wild.
Man, that's incredible. Didn't know this stuff existed. Thankyou for posting. I was a fan in the 70's, I was just a kid (1977-12yrs. old) and I never thought I'd ever see this. DA was an amazing band. I can't believe the musical transformation they went through and did it all so successfully. Everything they did was great (even though I don't understand what Terry's singing about most of the time.)
You're spoken out of my heart, when is was 10 Years old my older brother bought the Shotgun Angel, and we often hear the LP. Later with 14 I bought the Horendous Disc, my brother then the Doppelgänger, I'am the Alarma I, and the Vox Humana .... and I often try to understand the Lyrics but "Everything they did was great (even though I don't understand what Terry's singing about most of the time.)"
This is a clip from DA's DVD, "Instruction Through Film." There are a few more songs like this if anyone wants to check it out. Visit the band's official website for ordering info.
I was at this concert but way in the back. If you didn't get there early you either sat outside or in the overflow. It's nice to see this footage. I wish there was more. The rest of the album is great also. Where's Dave?
LOL i just researched it.. Looks like he performed there at CCCM June 4, 1977

I remember seeing them once at Calvary after they turned to rock-n-roll...
they started into a song, blew it so bad they had to stop...
one of them said into the mike "We shoulda kept the cowboy hats".
It was funny. Matches my philosophy of "Laugh at yourself - the rest of the worl does!"
