@coates5225 DJ Hero, I don't think will appeal to quite as many people. Rock Band is like the quintessential party game, but it depends on how much money you're willing to spend on the full set of instruments, which can be hundreds of dollars. EA football games have a lower price point and they're probably going to appeal to football fans, so I'd say either Rock Band or a football title like Madden, depending on how much you want to spend.

I was wondering. I read that if you plug in a second bass pedal you can program it as either a bass pedal OR a hi-hat. If you program it as a hi-hat what does it do then? If you press it with your foot is it a hi-hat hit? Or if you press it then does the red pad turn into a cymbal? Please reply.

@mymomrocks8 It's a hi-hat pedal, like you'd see on an actual drumset. Press down on it, the cymbal closes; lift it up, the cymbal opens. It's only really useful for fills and freestyling, it doesn't affect gameplay.

I want this game. I already have the full package of Rockband 2 for wii, but I'm debating whether I should get a whole new package for PS3. Basically I'm asking if there is much difference between the game on the two consoles. Is there any?

@JohnLeBlanc77 The instruments you have now should work just fine. You'll just need the game and a set of cymbals, and a keyboard if you want (I recommend it, it's awesome).

@JohnLeBlanc77 And I just realized I didn't answer your question very well at all. I think the only major difference is the amount of DLC offered, and at this point the difference is very very small. There's graphics, of course, and the need for friend codes when playing with friends online, both of which are improved on PS3. I don't think the core gameplay is any different though. You could probably do fine with the Wii version. I'd double-check with a review, though.

@testdrive426 That's not true. The original RB1 MIDI files had notes marked off as toms (if not marked, then it's a cymbal). The original use was for the animation, but it can be used to mark the notes onscreen too.

@GNARK1LL420 Nah, I don't think that's a great idea. The GH kit restricts how you can chart; you have two cymbals and three pads, and a pad can never be a cymbal and vice versa. The RB kit gives you a bit more freedom.

i know you can change the way you want to deploy OD with the old kind (the one you use) and theres some new one but for the old kind do you have to hit the cymbal to deploy OD or can you hit the pad?

And no, there are no keys for anything except 63 RB3 songs and the Doors DLC. Not yet anyhow.
