You need electric reels because of the depth there dropping for daytime swords. It would be physically impossible to reel up hundreds of yards of line to land a daytime sword. Do some research before you start blasting other peoples videos.

thats crazy. nice fish. but cant give them my respect. im 19 and i have deep sea fishing with my dad since i was 12 and i nor anyone on his boat has ever used an electric reel... hahah. caught maco, blue shark, some larger bluefin tuna that we have a some citations laying around for but never used and electric reel something about not reeling the fish that takes the sport out of it. shit if it takes us 4 hours to reel in a monster then so be it.

you can say that most of the skill lies in the technique to catch them but thats only half the battle and these young guys leading the line in on the electric reel arent the ones checking the sea surf temps and getting the fish hooked up. chances are that the captain did all that and just needed a couple strong young men to help him out like me and my brothers with my dad. props to the captain but not the mates who are just watching that badass fish get realed in by the "terminator".

now lets refer to the first definition, "an athletic activity requiring skill" (does it take skill to catch a fish? well u have probably never caught one in your life and if u were to go into the ocean in a boat the coast guard would probably have to save you) "or physical prowess" if you arent in physical shape then u cant real in a 100 lb tuna let alone even a large mahi mahi dolphin, catching a fish over 100 lbs usually involves a few hours of working the rod up and down with alot of force.

i69edurmum, do battle with one of the worlds sportsfish i.e. marlin, tuna and then come back to us and tell us that it isn't a sport. I played soccer for ten years, rugby union for three and the toughest thing I have ever done is fight a 600lb blue marlin for 3 and a half hours. I would challenge you to catch a 150lb marlin, dont think you would last ten minutes...you hit the nail on the head pothed69, it sure is an athletic activity. After the 600lb blue marlin, I lost 8lb in sweat
