any tips on growing nails stronger? I had bio gels on for a while and took them off.. myself... I know bad... but I didn't want to pay.. anywho.. my nails are usually thick and super strong but when they break they break in the middle of my finger... also.. I can't seem to grow any longer than about 25millimeters... from cuticle to tip of nail... any suggestions would be appreciated.. =)

@LunaPhillipson use cuticle oil on your nails, they tend to get dry, brittle and split. Moisturize them and they will be more flexible able to take bangs and bends easier without breaking as easy.

@sewcrafty1 Why would you want straight nails? Shapely nails that have some curve to them are the "ideal" of what beautiful nails are supposed to look like & are seen as the most feminine. A nice full nail bed, some curve/shape, narrower/slender rather than wide, etc. I am describing the look that most people & nail magazines are advertising. Straight, flat nails are no good, & this is not just in my opinion but it's what the ideal nails look like when you see photos of "beautiful nails."

@SuperMads123 I do not use my nails as a tool, I use the side of my finger. This is why people can not grow their nails, they think that a thin nail is a tool when it's not and break them. If you think about it, there are no rules that say you have to use the tips of your fingers for everything, people just assume that that is the only way to use them.

But, it would really take a long time to draw every rose on EVERY nail! SO, i suggest next time, take a piece of paper that had a sticker on it, if you know what I mean lol

and draw that kind of rose, cut it out, and with a skalpel cut out the pieces where are the leaves.

That way, you can just paint over the paper ^^

I would love to know how to paint my nails like the girls in Cairo - shop assistants etc They all had amazing nails, the cuticle area was painted in shining silver curves or a sort of chevron points or sometimes in curved points! :)

then the rest of their nail was painted red, it was stunning. I couldn't figure out if they used a stencil or did them free-hand, but each of their nails were always perfectly identical...and as I don't speak Arabic I couldn't ask them how :/

@TearfulShadows When you grow your own nails you very gradually get used to the length, but when they are fake, it must be a weird sensation to suddenly have 'nails' but I suppose you'd eventually get used to working with them. My own nails are naturally long & strong - just lucky I guess, everybody in my family has good nails.

I like to buff my nails with a Chamois buffer when I remove the polish, this gets the blood flowing to the nail bed which improves growth & keeps the nails healthy

you can go to school to be a nail tech. you only have to go for the whole thing if you want to do hair and other cosmetology specialties. Check the course hour requirements for your state, where I live, it's for 600 hours.

with everything in life we have to work hard at what we do and then we can make money.I have been doing this since 1976 and still am learning everyday. I will tell you to watch videos,read magazines, look for designs in everything that you see and practice practice all the time, never think you've got it because when you think you do you will stop learning and growning. I am working on a web page to teach how to do everything I've learned so watch out for it in 2010.
