  • who even has the balls to cover jackson? not a big fan of ian brown, but this is sooooo good! kudos to brown, anyone who doesn't like google madonna ya jerks!

  • genius no....

but he nails this cover ...yes

  • ha! didn't know ian brown did a cover of this song :) came across it by pure chance. hes managed to take a brilliant song and make it his own :) i love it :) can defo hear his northern accent too :D hehehe

  • the hook is a lcd sound sytem one isnt it?

  • He must be a big MJ fan

  • what an imbecile

  • I think you're all taking these comments too seriously. Relax, it's YouTube.

  • As an MJ fan, I just grateful that Ian Brown has covered this song. He may be coming at it from a different genre of music, but at the end of day The Stone Roses were one of the greatest bands in that genre. He could have taken the easy option and dismissed MJ and his music like many indie bands like to do but instead he's interpreted Thriller and Billie jean in his own way.

We should respect him for that, its might not be you cuppa tea but just he's acknowledging a great artist in his style.

  • me like...

  • Ian brown is in it for the music not the money

  • Ian Brown isn't called a 'God Like Genius' for nothing

  • A clear sign of true genius is when one genius recognizes the genius of another! I have no idea what that says about me though! *cheeky giggles* MJ + IB = BOSS! x x x x x

  • MJ's motown/synth pop sound meets Ian's Stone Roses/baggy sound...I like it............interesting combo

  • sophomoric..

  • Great version. Brown is a genius.

  • 02:14

  • Ian Brown is GOD

  • This is cool. I like it.

  • ian brown is a godlike genius and whoever thinks otherwise needs their ears testing!

  • I think this is pretty damn awful :D

  • @KimAvlastenok you're not getting it, or him

  • is there a instrumental to this?

  • I have never understood why people just get on and say a general comment like "this is rubbish". If you dont like it either dont comment or make a constructive criticism that will in some way actually help the artist. I like it bro, creative and different.

  • i dont care how good he is, some songs just cant be done by anyone exept the original artist

  • @HOPPERFZR rubbish

  • His billie jean is good and this is too. He knows a good song and brings a realism to music that is rare these days. Big up Ian Brown

  • First heard this on Sirius Chill bout 5 years ago, such a brilliant remix.........if you thumb this down.......well.....you just suck.

  • Rubbish

  • I wonder how it would sound live :D

  • He certainly makes the song his own! you'll either love it or hate it, for me..i love it!!

  • It shouldn't work but it does! Ian is a magician...I love it.

    x

  • this is a Leeeeeenon nighTtttt

  • ok, this isn't bad but not my kind of music.all i want to know is why the heck was this suggested to me after i watched a metal version of the original.my guess is youtube doesn't differ music styles.still, good work in this

  • ah this is so good ..

  • WICKED IT!

  • This is way better than the original, shame MJ couldn't fo the video and dancing to this

  • lol at thriller in a manc accent.. classic

  • Ian brown and thriller are meant to each other.

  • the stones...iam a hooliagan

  • amazing fu.....g amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michael Jackson is way past better

  • @MrShadow675 Well duh

  • @MrShadow675 but hes not from manchester!

  • I went to school with Ian and he's from Timperley which is in Altrincham. It's in the old county of Cheshire, but is in the modern borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester. It's definitely suburban Manchester and only a few miles from the city. However, it's on the posh side of the city and the people don't have such a strong Manchester accent. They're definitely not Gallagher type accents.

  • @harveyb8879 -seen- yeah.. southerners as my mate on cheetam hill rd would say.. gallaghers are from burnage. thats miles outta town. nearly stocky...its funny this condition we all believe in where you are only a true manc if you are within a mile radius of the arndale centre .. lol. my family are from the north side of town but i was raised in rochdale/heywood!

  • @bobbitt187 Burnage is only about 4 miles away from the town centre.

  • @harveyb8879 gallaghers are actually nearer to stockport than manchester, im from glossop 13 miles from manchester picadilly centre, i love manchester alll the best bands are from manchester i love ian and oasis and others.

  • @harveyb8879 actually,he's from warrington,he moved to timperley aged 4.

  • COULD PROB RAVE TO THIS !! U KNW XX

  • I.B. messiah!!!!!! go see john and reform the Roses..... a generation needs you

  • grOOooOOooOOooOOooOOooOOooOOooOOvy

  • gotta love ian brown

  • Off course the original is unbeatable, but Ian's vocals certainly give it a different feel. If you don't like it that's fine, but just because you don't like something doesn't make it shit you stupid, pretentious fucks.

  • Dub :)

  • "this guy cannot sing" whats with people these days, clearly living in an x factor society, where the only form of music accepted as good is singing, this aint great, but its got a doped up feel to it, and he's a legend for doing a version thats very different

  • fekin edjits, music aint trying to change the world just to put perspectives on it what have you done thats better other than been a critic which my arse could do better....

  • the stone roses absolutley fuckin amazing much much much better than oasis by far oasies is just 2 wee pricks that think they are hard ian brown showed those 2 cunts how to play the tar so fuck them ian browns shit hottt :)

  • @wellfan1991

U can like both bands you know. They're both friends anyway

  • Very unique. I have a vid of MJ's Thriller, with guitar tab of the original's horns and synth. The progression is the same, but obviously a very different sound.

  • nonce. ... ugly little kiddy fiddler... you have zero talent. your voice is shit. you cant play a single intrement.... you dont write all your own material... cunt to your fans.... and you want micheal jackson sexually abuse you... what a fkin pedofile.

  • this sounds really really..................depressing...Ian is great but this just makes me feel like im doped out on acid or something.....hahahahaha

  • ian is cool but this ois crappp

  • O__O !

  • thank god for ian brown

  • I like Ian Brown, but this is fucking shit

  • Stabesy mate both things you just said summed it up perfectly

  • Lame.

  • why do people chat shit ...

Ian brown is a genius ... he makes what he wants to listen too .... not a sell out artist .. you either like it or not ... but respect the work ... :)))

  • I agree with that statement 100%.

Brown is brilliant, but for me, these MJ covers he's done are a disgrace.

  • agreed

  • This guy is just spaming this slander on all the ian brown videos. Just keep reporting him.

  • why are you such a fag ian brown is fucking great

  • ives seen him live, and he was FUCKING BRILLIANT

    so shut up

  • ilu, ianBrown(L)

    i met this maan,

    whatta legend.(L)

  • fkn magic, Brown is the man, he dont even think he is a top singer himself so no point makin comments on his vocal range ya mongo's, ye just dont get it retards, he's a straight up legend who is letting ye hear the Manc version o the song, simple as that, Brown is an icon of most of the cool people of the nineties and always prob will be

  • Nah not 4 me

  • Ian Brown did this coveras a tribute but e also made it more "street"

  • nah...

  • Listen guys, Ian brown is an 80s and 90s music sensation, he is absolutley amazing. The whole point of covering songs is to do them with your own style, stop slagging off a man who is more talented than you and has been voted one of the greatest musicians of all time along with the stone roses. ya dicks.

    IAN BROWN! LEGEND!!

  • well put+++

  • great comment.one of the best bands ever.

  • This kind of sucks and it sounds like he's making fun of MJ... Booo!!!!

  • psh this is way better than mj

  • somewhat total shyte by a talantless petulant moron who is nonetheless loved by E'd up 'dancers'

  • I dont get it Ian Brown covering these songs, this and billy jean, must of meant something to him when he was younger.

    He almost makes it credible

  • As a massive MJ fan, I think Ian brown has done an o.k job with this, he's not gonna do pop cover version is he ian brown? but he's done it in his own style. I like it.

  • sucks..

  • ditto!.its shocking,certainly not thrilling.

  • i love ian brown and the roses, but i can't say i'm liking this

    at all

  • i like it I hate michael jacsons thriller its to noisy I wasnt able to sleep......haha now Im sleepy......NOT! Im more sleepy to your thriller and you force me to do my home work WHILE IM TIRED!........I like michael jacksons thirller because im to energenic to do my homework and i can do my homework ERLIER but to you I CANT DO IT EARLY!

  • of course the song doenst sound like the original... guys this is a coverversion & ian is an old raver not a mummy popper

  • this is T E R R I B L E....We are really sorry Michael for this over produced mediocrity...The delay on the vocal is awfull!

  • fucking lovely.....and no offence or owt, but Brown kinda shat all the over original with this lol....

gd song to start with + Ian Brown = Greatness :D

  • fuck that

  • i'm sorry, but michaels verison is the ONLY version.

this version makes me feel like on an acid trip (not that i would ever know what one would feel like).

  • fukin class monkey man

  • oh....I....f..eel....ver..y......sleepy.....

  • Exactly....you confirmed my point !

  • Cock!

  • Sounds groovey Man!

  • ficou muito bom !

  • Is this legit?

  • texaspete66...your such a faggit! haha

  • eu sou sincera . esse cara é uma porcaria . michael jackson é q é miLLLLLLLL

  • nerdrage!

  • he he....texaspete...yuouve made my day, im leaving the internet now cos i have had my fill of stupidity.....

.......Its the one road, it may be the wrong road, its the road to god knows where...la la la la la la la la la...

  • Right then numbskull who can't even spell properly, you have got me really angry so let's have an argument. Firstly he is not a pervert so you clearly have not done your research & nor are you capable of thinking for yourself.

Secondly a "good showman & crowd pleaser" doesn't produce the body of work that he has, the man was gifted beyond belief. Now take back all you said because believe me, you do NOT want to go down this road with me because I wil rip you a new one !!! You got that ?

  • he was a nonce

and you're an internet hardman lol

  • I almost this was a joke when I saw this but then I clicked on it......one musical genius adding his unique touch to the work to the work of another musical genius. I never thought in a million years that Brown could not only cover Jackson but also do him some justice but I think he does. I think Micheal would have liked this.

  • LOL... spot the BIG mistake, TxPete???

You done did say dem words, moosical genius, and Michael (Jackson) in dat thar same paragraph!

    OOoooooooppppsssss!

Good showman, excellent crowd pleaser, but musical genius? No!

Sick, dirty, twisted, bastard, paedophile, with genius lawyers, and parents of abused kids more interested in the pay cheque than their childs welfare... in fact, co-accused, by sending their babies to a perverted, kiddy-fiddlers home, and bed... DEFINITELY!

  • hes a clown

  • se for o cover tambem achou m palhaço . mais michael jamais......

  • thats easy for you to say

  • it isent ment sound like jackson if it was there wud be no point in making a cover its browns own style of singing that what makes it gr8 in its own way

  • Comment removed

  • lmao made my day that has pal

  • fucking brilliant... Ian Brown, grew up with his music... fantastic

  • billie jean cover was ok but this aint got the same feel

  • Love Ian Brown, really shouldn't of done this though.

  • id of preferred gary glitters do you wanna be in my gang.

  • Whew.... anyone got a light?

  • ian brown is god . am not even gonna indulge u by commenting aytmore

  • Maybe I just don't get it, but it sounds like karaoke night or something.

  • shit!

  • Das is Mellow like a Cello, thats been played by Ivor Novello !

  • Best cover i've heard. This is why I respect Brownie so much cos he had the balls to cover this iconic tune and he pulled it off. This is pure poetry in motion.

  • MJ aint that at all, he was found not guilty, case closed. Cos MJ has such geniune affection for people, people have abused his genaroisty, made false allegations about him to extort money from him. U need to stop reading the Daily Star/The Sun! U wipe your arse with those papers.

  • Never heard this before. It's fairly chilled out.

  • R.I.P Michael. Haven't heard much thriller covers and when i came across this i was like wtf! Respect for Ian being brave enough to cover this and his own stuff is pretty good - i aint gonnae write some huge passage..

    ... This sucks big time.

  • brilliant.

  • Ok mate thats why he used to be a travaler and went to india and was smokin pure opium. he is a smack head.... hes been on allsorts so fuck you

  • smack head!?

    is he fuckkkkkk

  • yes yes yes yes yes yes

  • I'd like to see you all say that to Ian Brown's face that would be funny seeing you in so much pain dying on the floor hahah xD

  • stfu, idiot.

  • Then we are bruthas mate!

  • ian browns my dad

  • ? wat the hell is this? michaels was wayyyyyyy better..

  • Peace frog.

  • pretty fuckin cool if u ask me

  • michael jackson was one of a kind but lend a hand to Ian for being brave enough to attempt this, well done man. ;-)

  • Got to say excellent,but...WHY?!

  • Roses for Micheal.

  • The instrumental parts of this cover fucking ruin it.

  • ew you slowed it down

  • get a life fool!!

  • DIFFRENT

  • Awesome cover. Ian Brown is a genius.

  • Ian Brown is awesome. This is gash.

  • i usally hate covers, but this ones fucking amazing.

  • damn right partner!

  • bad.hehehe.

  • thomascrown559 shut the fuck up ya pleb! stone roses were immense, although this is pretty shit! ian browns a total legend but this is pish lol

  • wow what famous singer isnt famous ???? lol ur point is all wrong THINK ABOUT IT

  • That is perhaps the poorest comment ever made on youtube. Apart from the fact that Reni is the best drummer of all time, John Squire is in the top 20 greatest guitarists, and Mani is in the top 10 best bassists, coupled with the brillaint song-writing of ian and john PROVING they have talent, this is a great tune.

People are missing the point, this is not a tribute rendition of Thriller. Cover does not mean exactly the same, Ian has made this song his own in only a way he can.

  • You are a rather biased fanboy. It is awful any way you look at it. His vocals are deathly boring, the music is trite; and the production is stagnant.

  • owned.....
