Absolutely AMAZING French horning. My daughter plays French horn and she is only eleven, but is good... I hope she gets to be this amazing when she is older!
I'm a violinist, and I remember playing this at state Solo&Ensemble last year. I REALLY want to learn the French horn, too! And I was very amazed at this video. =] Now I want to learn it even more. XD
i love this song :) and i especially love the french horn version. ive been looking for this particular piece for so long, is it possible if you send me the score of this piece? if so thank you so much sir!
It's funny, a French horn is nothing like a terrorist because you can negotiate with a terrorist. But this horn just seems to follow you perfectly, my question is how you built such stamina and is there any warm up activities to build my stamina? Please respond
@pibom1 I have learned to be very efficient. I play with a relaxed embouchure. I keep my lips close together (without squeezing them together). I try to keep the pressure light. I play with my lips rolled in. I play on a medium small mouthpiece. I have done a lot of experimenting to find what works best for me. Different things may work for you. You just need to experiment. I do know you have to find a way to play relaxed to have good endurance.
would it be smart to try this piece when your in freshmen year and have been playing 6th grade cause i was going to ask my band instructor if i can play this in solo and ensemble next year
I'm not surprised your students just shake their heads when you play this, I shook my head too! I'd love to hear you play "Sea Eagle" by Peter Maxwell Davies, go on, it's not that tough.
This is AMAZING! I`m in 8th grade and I`ve been playing since 6th. I hope to be this good one day! French horn is the best thing in my life, it makes me so happy to pick it up and play. I hope I can be like you and get to play it my whole life.(:
I've been playing French Horn for almost 6 years now, I'm now a high school senior. And I'm looking for a solo that's very pretty and not too hard, because I'm still not that great of a player. And recommendations?
wow!!!!! i'm in 7th grade and play the french horn. i've been playing it for 2 years, and just WOW this is amazing!! hopefully, someday, i can play this fast and good as you! i'm DEFINITATLY subscribing!
I'm currently learning this piece with a private instructor using your arrangement XD. It has provided me hours of joy in trying to match your sound. I'm trying my best to get there. I've been playing seven years and this is my 8th so I think I should be able to get pretty close
@ohsteacher Hello Mr. Park! This was an amazing recording...
I was just wondering if, since you did this arrangement, I could perhaps see a copy of it, perhaps as a link or an email attachment or something?
I would appreciate it very, very much, as I am applying to college next fall and think that would be the perfect piece to start working on for my music supplement.
@ag469 brass is one of the hardest, but most rewarding (in my opinion), instrument classes to learn. Definitely invest in a teacher, at least for a few lessons, or you won't make much progress
That was amazing...I mean I thought I could play pretty good cus I've been playing horn for a little over 2 years and I can hit high notes smoothly with the occasional double C or sometimes double E flat but that was awesome.
That was amazing...I mean I thought I could play pretty good cus I've been playing horn for a little over 2 years and I can hit high notes smoothly with the occasional double C or sometimes double E flat but that was awesome
@ag469 It is critical to develop a good flexible, efficient embouchure. Most young brass players don't play rolled in enough. I highly recommend the book "The Balanced Embouchure" by Jeff Smiley. It has great tips and exercises for developing the embouchure.
Haha Mr. Park was my band teacher the past two years of Jr. High. I remember this song. If anyone is wondering how he plays it so well, it's because he practiced a TON! He worked on this song all the time, especially before class would start we'd walk in and he'd be playing this song.
@blueraineee You must get a good teacher, private lessons if possible, and develop a good embouchure. It's control that counts; don't make it small for high notes.
@MagicCrazyMe Leave your horn sitting out in the sun for an hour - Just Kidding!!! To get a warm sound, I play with my lips close together and very relaxed. Many students play with their lips too far apart and then have to make them hard or tight to get a sound. Experiment with trying to make a small, round, relaxed opening in your lips.
I give extreme props to you. I think people that like this should check out Chistian Lindberg play it. It's interesting to hear it also played on Trombone. I personally like the horn version better but the trombone guy is crazy too XD
Because I arranged this one, I can send you the music. Just go to my channel and send me a request with your email address included and I will send you the music.
at about 3 minutes...the high note came out so beautifuly.....and they were all clean!!! people like this inspre me to keep goin on the french horn...i love this instrument!!!! and this is so beautifuly played!!!!! all clean and beautiful.....and your pauses are so dramatic and it makes the music come together!!!! you are AMAZING!!!!!!
I play 9 instruments, none a french horn. I have a friend who plays it though. I LOVE the sound and clean articulation on those fast parts! That piece would sound good on a french horn or trumpet why was it written just for violin?
I've been working on this piece for the past month (thank for the sheet music again) and am absolutely hopeless measures 6-8. How on earth did you reach into the bass cleff?!
@Withloveme2u That's good. it does take time. I have yet to hit all the bass clef notes as well. Though my range is now 4 octaves from low low c to high c. thank goodness! and It feels great to know my advice helped someone! I'm going to college next year as a music comp major on horn and I've been taking horn lessons for half a year. my boyfriend for like 6 years though. I get tips from him as well. lol. Good luck. you must be a great musician to be playing horn. beautiful instrument
Is there any way I can get a copy of this. I'm going into my 5th year of playing horn and would like a challenge to use for auditions as I advance in my musical career. If you can, it'd be much appriated. Thanks!
I don't know if I should switch to horn from trumpet. My trumpet teacher suggested it cause I have the embouchure of one or howeveryou spell it so I'm checking these videos out to see how I like it.
good idea, i used to play trumpet until two years ago i fell in love with horn. There amazing except alot different be ready to work hard if you switch
I know how to play French Horn pretty well, I'm 15 and started Trumpet as my first instrument at 6, and french horn has been my permanent for 3 years and I'm in my city's teen symphony orchestra. I can play trumpet, french horn, alto horn, B flat trombone and euphonium, and B flat tuba, basically the same fingering (with the exception of french horn and trombone) but different mouthpieces.
i know this sounds really dumb... but can u be really good like this guy at more than one instrument? because i play horn, drumset, and trumpet, ive just been getting down about how everyone says u can only really be good at 1 instrument or play a bunch and sound bad at them all
I play piano and I also play trumpet fairly well, but I play those instruments casually from time to time and no one is going to hire me to play them. I have dedicated thousands of hours over many years to practicing and performing on horn. I would have to spend that kind of time on trumpet or piano to even have a shot at being really good.
I played F. Horn back in high school, and I'm looking for a horn for myself, now that I'm well out of high school, and want to continue. This is very good! Nice job, Horns aren't easy to play well, and you are amazing.
i'm also a high school sophomore french horn player. hearing people play so wonderfully really gets me 'pumped' as it were to keep getting better. =] i really like this song.
Lots of scales and technical exercises. Start slow - use a metronome to control your speed - learn it well slowly - then gradually speed it up using the metronome. No shortcuts!!!
ha im a sophmore and i just learned last year how to play th mell and im already ahead of the first horn but now i have to learn how to play th french horn
Hmm. I'm a begginner French Horn player. I'm a sophmore in High School and our French Horns are really good, one of them actually went to State Band last year lol. I'm barely begging to play, like I've only picked it up twice to play and don't know much about it. Any tips, I really want to make it to Area or Orchestra this year. I know my expectations are high, but you won't get anywhere with them being low.
that is amazing that would be a fun peice to try... im pretty good at the french hond im in high school band. my only complant is my partner sucks and it messes me up
i have a silver horn thats ameture it suks but anyway i have ben playing for 3 yrs and suond nuthin like you i have a big sound but no control i am enering high school band. Any advice
What people don't realize is that compared to the French Horn, the trombone and tuba are amazingly simple. The French Horn is a very difficult instrument to play. It's often very hard to find the proper note to play. I myself have been playing for five years, and I also play other instruments to compare to. You are a very wonderful horn player, well beyond my level. I hope one day to be as good as you. Well done overall. :) Very nice.
hi im a double hornist and thank you for pointing this out to people i often get sideon looks in band when i pitch a wrong note but i am one of two hornists in the concert band and have only been playing for just under a year. I have good tone but i know how hard it is to play. The french horn is a good challenge and rates next to oboe on the world's hardest to play instuments.
I so agree. Im also a double hornist, and just begun playing. Its a fun instrument to play, but its hard. I also got 1st chair all county, exceeding the 2nd chair by 12 points.
listen Cygnus421,,,,,it's nothing DIFFICULT to be kind....this prof is sharing a nice video...it was a nice job and end of the story....everybody knows christian lindberg and his amazing playing...but that's not the point here..and the trombone and the horn can't be compared....respects for lindberg but this horn player is doind a great job..that's the point....
very good .I play this piece on my tuba

I played F. Horn back in high school, and I'm looking for a horn for myself, now that I'm well out of high school, and want to continue. This is very good! Nice job, Horns aren't easy to play well, and you are amazing.

Thanks for the kind comments. I hope you find yourself a good horn.

i'm also a high school sophomore french horn player. hearing people play so wonderfully really gets me 'pumped' as it were to keep getting better. =] i really like this song.
any tips for playing so fast? haha.

Lots of scales and technical exercises. Start slow - use a metronome to control your speed - learn it well slowly - then gradually speed it up using the metronome. No shortcuts!!!
