Heerlijk! echt goed gespeeld! Maar ik heb een vraag.. Heb jij nog goeie tips om het downpicken goed en lang vol te houden? want ik wil dit nummer namelijk ook coveren.. ik ben wel een lefty en heb rechtshandig aangeleerd.. zou dat ook een groot verschill zijn waardoor ik niet zo lang dat snelle downpicken volhoudt? Noujha.. in ieder geval graag een reactie terug!

@OldskoolSofPlayer Ik zou zeggen voordat je gaat downpicken eerst even een warming-up doen (ff wat andere nummers spelen of ff wat improviseren) want ik merk dat bij mij het downpicken een stuk makkelijker gaat na een half uur spelen. Dat en natuurlijk wat elke gitaarleraar zou zeggen: oefenen oefenen en nog eens oefenen :)

@CyanBloody It actually plays very comfortable while sitting down, however you do have to sit straight up cause of the shape of the guitar. When standing, it almost feels like any other guitar cause the extraordinary shape doesn't get in your way when playing. I suggest to go to a guitar shop and try out a Jackson RR (or the Alexi 600 if they have one) and try it out!

no! I thought learning this song was going to be a breeze, but I was wrong. down picking at that speed for that long is hard. the guy in this video even goes the easier route by alternate picking the part starting at 1:12. with the exception of a few notes for some fills in the riffs before the 4 min mark everything should be played using down picking. its harder than you'd think, which is probably why this guy alternate picks those faster more constant down picking parts.

gypsy jazz players are trained to only use an up stroke if it can not be avoided. since they play acoustic music they try to get the best tone possible, and down picking results in a clearer, better sounding note. where it would be easier and more economical to play an up stroke after doing something that would make it just feel natural, you'd have to retrain yourself to apply a down stroke if possible. my friend plays gypsy jazz and watching him use that technique is jaw dropping.
