the first time I heard it it was in the movie 'Le Concert" (sorry i dunno the name in English) anyway i saw it in theater and when I heard it, i was on the front row, i completely forgot the rest of the world, i really never felt like that before, i can't explain it it was...! i think i'll always remember this moment, and i'm really glad i never heard it before this very moment !! a real piece of heaven! i mean i cried! i never cry!
el mundo ajetreado y desordenado encuentra calma en la armonía de un violín. La música, el lenguaje de las almas, esta pieza me encanta en verdad, mi mundo encuentra paz al escucharla
Yes, the film 'The Concert' is funny and a great introduction to the genius of Tchaikovsky. I love this version by Antal Szalai. If it doesn't move you heart and soul, then you are not human. I can't get enough.
This is already slower than that of Heifetz ( on same you-tube platform).
Tchaikovsky Violin concerto was always criticized as not so beautiful and yet people like it very much because of that -not showing the beautiful tone of violin but the thrust instead.
vraiment beau le concerto de tchaikowski, iil faut voir le film le concert avec melanie laurent c'est vraiment un très beau film ,avec ce morceau justement.
I love Bill Conti's theme music for The Right Stuff. And I love the Tchaik! Yes, Conti plagiarised it from the Tchaik, but what a masterful piece of music to plagiarise from!
I agreed with JerrySpsy u have written ridiculous comments. If Divid Oistrakh is still alive he will think that u are a nut. what climax . drama u are talking about ?stop talking nonsense .U are born because your parents have climax
It's shame your parents had a sense of climax because otherwise you would not have been born. The world certainly doesn't need another nitpicking, negative, critic like you. To find fault in this young man's brilliant performance is just unbelievable!
he has no sense of climax nor does he play it in the Russian style. He does have a nice Oistrakh like tones but that is not enough. He just doesn't have a sense of drama either. It's too timid soft playing.

It's very interesting to note, that those of us, who appreciate classical music, have a higher understanding or should have a higher understanding of the world and how it works and all its idiosyncracies. Yet it bothers me sooooo much that we here can find fault and bad mouth each other when we should be sitting back and enjoying that which was given to us to appreciate and enjoy and not curse and insult each other. Let's try to be better next time, i'm gving everyone the benefit of the doubt.
There are tons of violinists who won competitions, and they're all technically good. But I think Antal Szalai has something special. You can feel it even from the first sound he produces.
I agree! His demeanor, vibrato, facial expressions, all remind me of Oistrakh. His tone is nowhere close, but he has years ahead of him to develop that.
Contrary to your beliefs, those notes are sixteenth notes. If he slows down too much, he will ruin the rhythm. Jascha Heifetz played it like this too.
malgré qu'il n'ait pas eu le prix qu'il méritait au concours reine elisabeth de belgique antal szalai est un tout grand violoniste dans la lignée des grumiaux heifetz et autres !
the conductor Gilbert Varga is Tibor Varga's son! You can see Tibor's performances on this site too. Please have a listen, he was such a tremendous player. I think Gilbert also plays violin.
You suck putting down the dominants. I hope you snap one of your fancy strings at an uncomfortable moment for saying that and putting down those of us that like them.
