  • good one refreshing and soothing worth watching musicians playing such good music

  • 6:15 simply... GLORIOUS!

  • He is not a showman like many others violinists but he is among the five firsts of the world. Brilliant, a violinist to violinists.

  • bravo

  • violin solo is so bad//

  • Brilliant!

  • 7:38-8:20 a fine moment, but not present in the movie...

  • he's got a nice violin

  • @judeh101 my first thought as well. Such clarity of sound and projection....

  • Tempo for the first 24 bars "suspect", but one brilliant performance, would prefer the violin solo less prominent in the mix.

  • anne sophie mutter is better

  • @chabinik that was a very very veeeeery stupid comment. If you know about music you dont say that.

  • i want to see Lea playing !

  • He's the best!!

    very very good!!!

    bye.... :D

  • Yes, the film 'The Concert' is funny and a great introduction to the genius of Tchaikovsky. I love this version by Antal Szalai. If it doesn't move you heart and soul, then you are not human. I can't get enough.

  • what a nice concert...

  • He looks like matt lucas

  • 1:58 ugly mistake..

  • How can anybody dislike this incredible concert, unique artists, genius composer ? This is real music !

  • How can anybody dislike this incredible concert, unique artists, genius composer ? This is real music !

  • @vigrry because its lack of sentiment... listen it by perlman and youll see =)

  • @Frangm18 In Perlmann Version all I hear is "Perlmann" here all I hear is Tchaikovsky...

  • @ZsoltMagyar fair enough

  • Varga trying to emulate Abbado?

  • you're right, The concerto is a great film. One of my favourites.

  • Muy buena calidad de sonido e imagen. El concierto, una maravilla

  • Yes, go and see the movie "Le Cocert".

  • Complimenti Antal!

  • I love this fast..

  • I've never heard this played so fast...

Seems like typical "faster is better" playing.

On the bright side, he did it very nicely... just not very musical in my opinion.

  • @TheJmills39

This is already slower than that of Heifetz ( on same you-tube platform).

Tchaikovsky Violin concerto was always criticized as not so beautiful and yet people like it very much because of that -not showing the beautiful tone of violin but the thrust instead.

  • i always cry at 6:16 damn GOOD

  • @OsitoSalvaje

Try Heifetz on the same you tube column. You may cry earlier that the girl.

  • i like the quality of the sound, extremely strong and the violin sounds wonderful, excellent performance indeed

  • Magnifique!!

  • Cadenzaaa!!!! Where is it??? :(

  • wow... how beautiful

  • Bravo, Antal!

  • perferct. whatch Le Concert

  • amazing...really inspiring.... :)))

  • J'aime le film Le Concert! C'est tres magnifique! :)

  • Apresentação magnífica e musica profunda.

  • ato precrasno

  • It was for the Belgian "Concours Reine Elizabeth"

  • Génial surtout dans le film! Le concert

  • Magnifique morceau !

  • tchaikofsky you ARE A FUKING REAL GENIUS MY GOT THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFULL VIOLIN PLAY I HAVE EVER SEEN

  • 6 : 30 is wonderful

  • i wanna cry whene i hear this....

  • Oistrakh 2!!!!!!!!!Hervorragend spielt......

Eine der Beste heute nach meine meinung.

  • I like their sound.

  • go and see the movie "Le concert".....c'est magnifique :P ;)

  • @pierpatrat yes this movie is fantastique !

  • super beau

  • everywhere.

  • 7:38 and on

  • 7:32 and on - faster?

  • 6:16 à 6:50 => magnifique

  • thats my favourite part too...it's just wonderful.i love tchaikovsky!

  • Whoever made the soundtrack for The Right Stuff he copied lots of this piece.

  • Finally, someone else noticed. It really ruined the movie for me.

  • I love Bill Conti's theme music for The Right Stuff. And I love the Tchaik! Yes, Conti plagiarised it from the Tchaik, but what a masterful piece of music to plagiarise from!

  • freeqwerqwer,

I agreed with JerrySpsy u have written ridiculous comments. If Divid Oistrakh is still alive he will think that u are a nut. what climax . drama u are talking about ?stop talking nonsense .U are born because your parents have climax

  • freeqwerqwer,

It's shame your parents had a sense of climax because otherwise you would not have been born. The world certainly doesn't need another nitpicking, negative, critic like you. To find fault in this young man's brilliant performance is just unbelievable!

  • he has no sense of climax nor does he play it in the Russian style. He does have a nice Oistrakh like tones but that is not enough. He just doesn't have a sense of drama either. It's too timid soft playing.

  • i quite agree, his interpretation is very agreeable but lacks the passion and drama that this piece requires.

  • very elegant with beatifull tone

  • Woderfull!

I want to become in this way!!

  • Great job!!!

  • Bravo...Bravo!!!

  • original. In the 3rd movement he doesn't do the cuts Auer put in the score.

  • his vibrato reminds me sooo much of Heifetz

  • You know it never ceases to amaze me that we who appreciate and watch such music, should stoop so low as to find fault and curse and write comments such as are posted on this page.

We were given the gift of intellect which allows us to appreciate and enjoy and supposedly hold ourselves to a higher standard, but no we have to find time to make snide comments and put downs and let me stop here.

  • Quit being so arrogant.

  • It's very interesting to note, that those of us, who appreciate classical music, have a higher understanding or should have a higher understanding of the world and how it works and all its idiosyncracies. Yet it bothers me sooooo much that we here can find fault and bad mouth each other when we should be sitting back and enjoying that which was given to us to appreciate and enjoy and not curse and insult each other. Let's try to be better next time, i'm gving everyone the benefit of the doubt.

  • There are tons of violinists who won competitions, and they're all technically good. But I think Antal Szalai has something special. You can feel it even from the first sound he produces.

  • lol

  • Yeah!!! SEIRIOUSLY!!

    I WANNA HEAR THE ENDING???

    WHY"S THE VIDEO CUT OFF???

  • The first movement is so long it must be put in to 2 parts to fit on yourtube

  • He reminds me young Oistrah! I can consider him as one of my favourate players now! Great violinist!!!!

  • I agree! His demeanor, vibrato, facial expressions, all remind me of Oistrakh. His tone is nowhere close, but he has years ahead of him to develop that.

ThankYou:)

  • Beautifully done - I especially like the solo at 7:38 and the cellos in the background at around 9:00. The conductor is very into it too!

  • i thought the solo at 7:38 was a bit too fast

  • Contrary to your beliefs, those notes are sixteenth notes. If he slows down too much, he will ruin the rhythm. Jascha Heifetz played it like this too.

  • Peter 0414..check this one. David Oistrakh plays Tchaikovsky Concerto (1st Mov.) Part 1.

  • I knew this song from nodame cantabile

  • I knew this from nodame cantabile

  • I enjoyed it a lot! Congrats =)

  • BRAVO again Antal, from Adelaide, Australia!

  • Great Antal. We are proud to list you among the first prize winners of our competition (thanks for the link...)

  • He played like Heifetz. The tone and the speed are very similar.

  • the conductor Gilbert Varga is Tibor Varga's son! You can see Tibor's performances on this site too. Please have a listen, he was such a tremendous player. I think Gilbert also plays violin.

  • NAGYSZERÜ-GRATULÁLOK.

  • He is so good

  • What an incredible performance of this wonderful concerto!A colourful sound , and impressive expresivity.

  • tes, olive label or obligato would be nicer. But it just shows you dont need top of the range strings to produce a decent sound.

  • You suck putting down the dominants. I hope you snap one of your fancy strings at an uncomfortable moment for saying that and putting down those of us that like them.

  • I like it a lot!!!!!!!!!!

  • sublime

  • I like it a LOT, A LOT A LOT

  • MAGNIFICIENT performance. Can anyone please tell me the conductor and the orchestra?

  • Without fail this kind of beauty always makes me cry. This makes me so happy to be a human.

  • Szalai's website credits it as the Belgian National Orchestra, Gilbert Varga, cond. What an amazing player.
