McCain commented that giving the government control of health care would be a disaster, yet he wants to give the banks a large check to bail them out. There is an equal disaster brewing at the hands of the greedy health insurance companies, who continue to raise rates and refuse payments. Large companies cannot function unregulated, period. Greed and corruption surfaces again and again. The choice is clear - let McCain pave the way for the rich, or let Obama represent the rest of us.
mccain needs to better himself he is still traumatized from his POW years. he does not have what it takes to be a real man and to run this country. he did nothing but make a fool out of himself tonight. obama did an awesome job, he rocks the house
As important as this debate has been the song-and-dance behavior of McCain this last week, who threatened not to show up at the debates so he could grandstand in D.C., where he only served to muddy the waters. This reveals his consistent lack of judgment and why he would be a bad choice as leader of our nation. I hope everyone can see this as erratic behavior and desperation.
John McCain's response to everything is Obama doesent understand, lacks knowledge, No experience, wrong Judgment.
The guy needs to be reminded that he graduated almost LAST PLACE in his classes(In comparison Bush was a C Student) were has Obama went to Harvard and Columbia and gruaded then became president of Harvard Law review not to mention the fact that he taught constitutinal law
I'll try to be unbiased here... I think it was close, Obama seemed to fumble a little. But mostly he poked McCain's nerves a few times and popped him on some good points, as McCain did some poking back but just had to toss in the airhead he's running with (as well as his POW service, get over it dude). Over all, close... but Obama took it. He was cool, calm, and SPOKE to his opponent. While McCain never once looked at Obama.
I think Obama did a magnificent job in the debate! I noticed multiple times during the debate McCain 'stretched the truth,' to put it nicely. Good job on calling him out for it!
He wouldn't even look at Obama and the majority of the time his attitude was cynical and condescending. Obama was respectful, dignified, and on point with his powerful arguments.
America, let's elect someone we can be proud of! Obama/Biden 08!
I think he is actually starting to believe his own dogmatic self serving and misleading platitudes.
Obama is validating our reality and has a real understanding to what we are truly experiencing under a Republican White House. AND illustrating in plain talk his plans on turning this sinking ship
around.
Obama is CLEARLY the only man with a plan and who is in it for the right reasons.
As an Obama supporter, I went into this debate with an open mind and tried my best to leave my personal bias out of it. As I watched the debate, I thought McCain actually did a pretty great job with his points, though he was a bit condescending - but hey, it's a tactic, and you gotta try it, right?
But I still believe Obama really came out on top with this one, and I was very impressed with his performance. It's good to see an approach to diplomacy when it comes to foreign affairs for once.
Obama makes exactly the right point. McCain can bluster and make faces all he wants, but the fact is, he was wrong, wrong, wrong, on Iraq. His judgment cannot be trusted.
i thought that obama's points on the war were alot stronger the mccain's...mccain needs to get out of the past and think about the future...obama clearly should win...
I watched this on CNN where they had Demorcrats, Republicans, and Independents rating how they felt about what was said as it went on and you could see Barack getting everyone in the high 80%, off the chart at one point! Mccain stayed around 45 to 60% with a high of Barack's average of 80%.
Good, strong, bold points, Barack. You already have your supporters behind you. If you're going to win over independent voters, there needs to be more of this!
MaCain thinks he's still living in the Ronald Regan era. Oh my God. This guy is a story teller and reminds me of my grandfather. And Sarah Palin... What a mess. Wake up America. The world is laughing at you.
Obama you WON this debate! In an area that was McCain's strength, you held your own. You were calm, confident, and intelligent, and the polls will show a rise for you. You inspire us all every day. It is now so very clear who the next President of the United States will be - without a doubt - Mr. Barack Obama!!!
Thank GOd for Obama. Now we ccan get back to making America great again - schools, infrastructure, healthcare, clean energy - it is ging to be great. McSame wants to freeze spending on all domestic issues but cut taxes for big companies and the rich. What's up with that?
McCain didn't look at Obama one time during the debate nor did he engage in direct dialogue with him. I think that says a lot about how he will deal with people who disagree with him when he is president. He will simply ignore them just like GWB.
You know what I noticed? Besides the fact that Obama won this debate, McCain was being totally rude. If you cannot even show compromise within your face expressions, or just plain manners when someone is aganist what you believe in, then how can he come into alliance with foregin countries? IT MAKES NO SENSE!
I declare this debate a draw, and that's not good for McCain. It's clear that the debates Obama had with Hillary helped him be more aggressive without blowing a gasket. These were McCain's strengths, and Obama held his own in these topics.
I don't blame either guy for not wanting to say what they'll cut in their agenda thanks to the financial bailout- that would have been suicide.
The Palin/Biden debate is going to be ugly, and that's not good for McCain
I literally cheered when I heard this. Finally, Obama comes out and puts McCain in his place over his part in the deception to lead the American people into this war.
Obama/Biden '08, and for that matter, '12 as well. He'll be a two-term president, no doubt about it.
Obama is the 21st century leader and brings in new hope for US. America can't make everyone enemies and try to impose a dominent image. Strong nation needs to be looked upon like a support and not a bully, mad of wars. US badly needs image makeover and economy rebuilding, that it lost in past 8 years
I have been an Obama supporter from day one when I read and heard his views and ideals about the issues. Tonight, I feel that McCain talked circles, he repeatedly mentions where all in the world he has been, which I could give a rat's tail, and he used the POW card. NONE of that makes him worthy of leading this nation! He is a war monger and not any brighter than G.W.! Boy am I DIZZY!
WAY TO GO OBAMA! You owned McCain at the debate! Outstanding job, and idk what the hell everyone else is saying that McCain got this speech...he didnt say anything...you used his attacks back at him.
Obama was awesome! all he did was prove his ability once again, i truly believe in him, I know he will help our country in a better matter then war head mccain will ever do.
I have seen enough. I just don't trust McCain. He is the same ole same ole, polished politician. He tries to twist the issues and mischaracterized his opponent instead of just stating his position.
Keep up the good fight Senator Obama. McCain was a disrespectful old man tonight, who was more interested in waxing poetic about the KGB and "Kidari" (whoever that is!) then addressing real issues. You have my vote and full support.
Terrific job by Barack. McCain, same old story. Real old story actually, recalling Eisenhower whom he was probably friends with. A clear look at a relic of the past, and the hope for the future. Just waiting now for Biden to carve the Alaskan moose.
right on, obama!! bush republicans - mccain included, are absolutely WRONG on all the issues, especially iraq war. we need a speedy end to this war, not a continuation of bush policy.
Not one time during the whole debate did McCain looked at Obamas direction and his body language was negative, now is that the kind of person you want representing our interest...I don't think so
Look for spin about McCain flubbing the names of foreign leaders and places.
Wish Obama would have hung his economic advisers around McCain's neck though... Would have been better than tie. Oh, this is the worst-looking tie I ever saw. What, when you buy a tie like that I bet you get a free bowl of soup, to paraphrase Al Czervik.
Why could McCain not look at Obama ? Why did he not look into the camera ever to address the American people? I've never liked him but I think he looked like a creep up there and was incredibly condescending.
what made me mad is when Obama was going to attack McCain on his nuclear waste recored John changed the subject as quickly as he could and started arguing about how he "supports solar and wind power." I wanted to know what Obama was going to say?
Anyone know what it was?
I did not see the first half but on this it looks like Obama trashed McCain!
Obama delivered an excellent, cool minded debate. He was clear on his answers and provided solutions to the issues at hand. He answered all the questions with respect; and even walked over to meet with Cindy and John after the debate.
McCain resorted to the same old mud slinging and same rhetoric that has destroyed America for the past 8 years.
How many times did Obama say McCain "What you're saying about me or my position is "UNTRUE"??
It seems that McCain cannot be the "Straight Talker" that he claims to be. McCain lies prevail in his TV ads attacking Obama & Mccain lies prevail also during the entire debate.
I respect Obama for saying to McCain that he agreed on some of his points. McCain cannot be wrong all the time, even though McCain agreed with Bush 90% of the time...there is still that 10% where McCain was right.
Yeah I agree with "fromthispoint". McCain was somewhat ignoring Obama. Not once did I see McCain look at Obama during the whole debate. What was up with that? Obama did look much more professional and stronger....
Barrack Obama for PRESIDENT! McCain and Palin suck! McCain is stuck in the past while Obama is going to the future which is what we need after 8 years of George Bush/McCain! McCain bases his experience on trips or visitations to places in the world, but trips will not give you the whole package, BARRACK OBAMA HAS THE WHOLE PACKAGE INCULDING EXPERIENCE,BARRACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT OF THE USA!!!!!!!!!!
Obama completely dismembered McCain on every issue in this debate from the start. McCain was was clinging to straws by the end of it with his fake smile. This debate showed McCain isn't as strong or a good leader with experience as he was made out to be, he looked like a mess while Obama came out looking unstoppable with sound plans for the future of America
McCain could not look Obama in the eye during the debate because everyone knows that you can't look a person in the face when you are lying. A person that is lying willfully, will either look away or look down, any body language expert will tell you that. Look at the debate again, and whatch that liers head movements. Obama looked McCain strait in the face and told him the truth, and McCain wound not even look at Obama. Some people think McCain did good, I think Obama cleaned his old ass clock.
When asked about the economy, Obama outlined his plan with clear points. McCain on the other hand, did not offer a plan as to how he will handle the economic crisis.
Also, McCain criticized him for wanting to meet with other world leaders when obviously, building a wall against potential threats only worsened our image.
3rd, Obama focused on what we need to invest in- healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc. while Mccain struggled to answer.
I had to be at a meeting and had to miss the debate, but this segment looks very promising. I'll be u-tubing for a while and see what turns up. NPR gave them both high points, but from what I can see here, the points go to Obama!
If McCain wins this election the WORLD will lose ALL respect for USA & consider the USA a joke, & your "rogue" states will prosper in America's demise.
Case in Point regarding your "Allies":
- Australia elected a new Prime Minister in 2007 in most part because he supported the withdrawal of Australian troops from Iraq.
- When Obama visited Germany a crowd of over 200,000 showed up to support him.
- Former British Prime Minister Blair still faces criticism over Iraq.
This debate solidified my view that Obama is ready to be president.
Someone with McCain's experience in foreign policy should have been able to run circles around a newcomer but Obama matched him point by point AND he exhibited an excellent knowledge of foreign affairs.
Not to mention, "The Surge" was a "Tactic" to draw the terrorists to our troops in Iraq, which in fact caused "More Violence" and casualties. Mean while, the terrorists are "Still" in Afghanistan and spreading throughout the globe in many countries including our very own U.S.A
I like the way you think Mr. Obama. Very smart indeed. Theres a reason why you have this far.
McCain did not look at Barack even one time during this debate. Im guessing he was too afraid to look at Barack, because he knew barack was RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! Please people, make a wise choice and vote for Obama/Biden 2008!
My friends and I were watching this. And when I was telling them about Obama's benefits, one of them called me a [bi ist] <-- spelled it wrong but its suppose to mean like when you only stick with one side. However, aren't we all?
Looks like Obama touched a nerve with McCain on "War" topics. I like Baracks approach and plans for change and all that was discussed tonight. McCain deserves all the credit in the world for his past, but he offers nothing new for americas future and that imho was evident tonight.
Thank you! I hope we can regain some respect, we have lost most of it with our leaders imbecilic cavorting and ill-considered tactics and aggressions. Wish us luck on Nov 4th
International endorsements of Obama are appreciated! In fact, I wish that more international citizens would show their favor, but please speak LOUDLY so that we can hear you..... not everyone is listening, unfortunately! THANKS!
Hey, It's always nice to hear input from people that are outside of the U.S.! Obama was simply amazing, he ruled economics and handled the war in Iraq surprisingly well! Obama/Biden 08'
i could have sworn in a rally somewhere someone in the audience was chanting something and McCain's like."if there's one thing we do is not interrupt anyone and respect everyone."
Remember that Obama was sane and sober enough during the aftermath of 911 not to just get emotionally drug into any war presented. He kept his cool and rational thinking when everyone else was saying "attack, attack, attack" without examining carefully who was to be responded to with force. Barack Obama has the cool and intelligence necessary for the seat of president. We can't have a hot-headed child mentality there because we're literally dealing with issues of life & death on a massive scale.
yes we cant just walk around shooting are gun because we been attacked... we are basically sending in our brothers and sisters into war... mother and father... or the should of been mother and fathers... this is what i would call ... an insane approach for america... and a highly risky mmove...
John MC Cain keep his eyes down and his face keep a stupid smirk, Barack Obama looked strong unflinching and ready for real change confident and hopeful and was every strong in every area and question asked with wisdom. Barack Obama 2008 for America

Obama showed us what American diplomacy should look like. It's been such a long time since we've seen that.
Thank you.

Awesome job!
Obama has the right judgement.

Reno this Tue. I'll meet you there Mr. Obama!

No wonder McCain tried to fast step his way out of the debate, he was a tool and a fool.
BTW, I wonder how long before the shills, sock puppets and trolls get their talking points and marching orders and start to swarm?
I wish I had the franchise on shill repellent, I coulda been a contender!

Barack Obama seemed calm, in command and very knowledgeable. McCain seemed angry, impatient and incoherent at times.

McCain : Wanting war, not using common sense, following Bush's mistakes.
Obama : Hopefully saving the ecomonmy, trying to end the war.

Please open your eyes USA!

We can't have a hot-headed child mentality there because we're literally dealing with issues of life & death on a massive scale.
blissful420 3 years ago 328
yes we cant just walk around shooting are gun because we been attacked... we are basically sending in our brothers and sisters into war... mother and father... or the should of been mother and fathers... this is what i would call ... an insane approach for america... and a highly risky mmove...
