  • Floor dead bolts are nice.

  • Put brackets on the walls and drop a 2x6 into block the door when you are inside. Kattie bar the door style

  • How can you protect the walls of the home from gun shots? I live in a two story home and been trying to figure out where would be the safe place to be in case of the worst happening, got any suggestions? My house is sliding no brick or stone to protect me. Can you buy a solid steel door for entry of the home? I don't know much about self protection or getting the home ready, just doing this alone. Need suggestions. Thanks

  • @MsDancingNana

Yeah You can get a steel door. Will be expensive though. for the front of the house you could put in raised flower beds that are made of thick wood or brick/stone. Then at least if you ever came under fire you could get low and would be safe laying down at least.

  • you know what the do then, drive a car through your door or wall

  • Guard dogs work too, their dog food can be the intruder. Stayingawake20 had nice security for doors and windows. Sometimes the old way is better tractor supply carries the brackets needed, install when SHTF. Agree never show what you have! Arrows cut right through bp vest. If things get bad and ppl get sick write in red paint "quarantined" sick people inside on ur house, could will prevent people from crashing in for a while. Cree 5mode flashlights with strobe (at least 1000Lm) is a must have!

  • you spent 17 mins on a door! okok 16 mins on a door and a min on the windows, but not even really on the windows more like your gardening plans.

  • i work in the HVAC industry and the number of units stolen for copper is thru the roof.we have even started offering a steel cage to go around your unit. its nuts the theif is way more prepared to steal it then most people think.

  • All they have to do is smash out your windows and then that lock wont do a thing to help ya.

  • 3 min to gear up??

  • I found that you can buy the cheap locks with a key on both sides- if you don't want someone to pick your lock simply put a key on the inside of the lock- for those who cannot afford a 180 dollar lock. :)

  • I do house and saferoom work for people and one thing popular among lawyers is to simply put added deadbolts on the home offices, which is a requirement with several law firms, and then regular key locks on the master bedroom, although you can deadbolt that too with a key which does not match the rest of the house. Something to consider when your teenagers have guests over. Think of it as a layered defense.

  • Dea cuts door in half with chainsaw and kicks in the bottom half and it swings right open! Chain saw one cut horizontally below the deadbbolt! So you dead bolt is useless!

  • On sleeping rooms make the bars can be removed for fire safety.

  • Good but dont overlook your hinges. I have been told by a cop that he kicks the hinge side of the door and they break right open.

Somewhere online they do make hinge armor. You can use the long screws on the hinge frame side but you just cant really strengthen the part of the hinge that screws to the door.

A product called the Door Sentinel comes with hinge upgrades . Another product called the Door Guardian is a good secondary lock.

I have been the victim of a break in (door kicked in) and

  • Hell yeah !!! Adamantium Deadbolt !!! Golden, absolutely golden.

  • I like and agree, You can also add like a 1/4 inch by 2 inch x 60 or so steel strip bolted to the inside where your trim is, Or under the trim,

  • take out a 2ft strip where lock goes and replace cheap pine with oak that would help a hell of lot then use your armour striping and dead bolt but also make a hole in floor so that a piece of like rebar would go in and stop door from giveing at bottom then make a angle piece that would go from floor to like handle just about 30degrees would work i would guess then remove all old screws holding door hinges and lock parts in and use 3" plus screws and not cheap ones just a country boy here

  • good point on the threat of terrorism vs home invaison, cool video

  • Poor Man's Bullet "resistant" Armor!!

2 plywood sheets (each 1quarter inch) cut to fit inside of window, door, wall (1" fingerhold space on all sides). Coat 1 sheet with 2 sheets of fiberglass cloth & resin on BOTH SIDES. Glue a pencil diagonally at each corner, sandwich pencils between both plys using plenty of short screws 1" from edges ONLY! Face Non-fiberglass plywd outward. Secure entire assembly with 3 inch screws.

Use to line walls of interior room to create make-shift "safe-room".

  • something to keep in mind ..... in a sthf if they cant get in they might just burn ya down ..... bust window throw in molatov cocktail

  • How about extra large door knob and deadbolt shields/wraps to stop a "Hollugian" pry bar that pro's use. Kudos to you for doing that from another security conscious fella!

  • in the uk people put carpet tack on the top of thier fences and broken bottles laid in moarter on walls

  • @dahistoryman me nan does it lol

  • as a carpenter who used to have to break into places for the police ect ,the best way by far to strengthen your locks is a steel strip down the length of the door jamb with carraige bolts thru the domed head outside it can be bent around rim locks you can also widen themetal and lag bolt into the studs i have litterally taken the locks off the door and the door holds closed hitting it many many times with a sledge hammer ,long scews in the hinges and jambs ,also wedges inthe reveal

  • Yucca plants can also be a super pain in the balls to get around, especially once they've grown a bit.

  • Good job sir!!

  • Alright, so like, WTF are you gonna do, if like, Buddhist monks come to your door asking for charity and you're all like, 'Oh here you go mister Buddha man, have some [fuckin'] cheeze puffs [or whatever]' and he pulls out a M249 saw and starts, like, wailin' on your hovel like a blitscreeg dim sum? You're ain't so smart then with your deadbolt, peace out.

  • wow...

  • Ok you got your front door down what about your back door lmao

  • the best defense for windows, as most looters hit at night.. is to drive several nails in a piece of plywood and set it point side up in front of the window. Let them step inside and get a foot full of nails and others will become aware your place is boobytrapped and will get a lot less attention after

  • get some geese.

  • What if they break the glass in your window and start shooting?

  • @rburton34

That's a possibility. Eventually I plan to get window bars which would stop them from coming through the windows. They could still shoot it, but they wouldn;t be able to see what they are shooting at, so unless they got me with the first couple random shots I could probably duck and cover. My house is concrete block so if I stay low I would be pretty safe from random small arms fire.

  • @TheLordHumungus dont forget to get an escape plan incase of fire youll wish your windows would open

  • Window bars a pretty suspicious and stick out like a sore thumb. It could also make you a possible target for theives. Probably better saving up for dual ply bulletproof glass if you want to go to that extent

  • In Finland our doors are opened to out side and they have "lips" on a rame all the way, so you must be a humangus kicker to get in even if that door is equipped with a standard Ably lock witch we use over here! ;)

  • @Fanzysam my bad...the lock is ABLOY not Ably! :)

  • Love the "Ahnold" Preditor Reference. I Subscribed, keep up the good work

  • Open in 5 seconds with a Mossberg 500 & 12g door breech rounds. !! LOL

  • id open it in 3 seconds

    with a truck

  • my home is secured with smith and Wesson

  • Can you put a heavy steel gate over your door--like a screen door, but of steel. They use those in Mexico a lot.

  • @fazole

Yeah they call them 'storm doors' around here. That is something I would like to get at some point.

  • @MookieInDaHouse keep in mind everyone has different opinions and that situation youre picturing might only be plausible for you... just who are "they"?

That answer is different for us all....

  • If you have pier and beam wood floors, u can get a 2x4 with a "V " notch cut out of the top to wedge against door handle. The other end goes to the floor secure to floor with 3" screws. If you're in construction, u can ramset to cement floor on all doors except one entrance for access. Or 2 -2x4's secured horizontally across door to the cripples/studs. In a WROL/SHTF situation, u won't care what u cosmetically destroy. I will put hardieplank over windows and sandbags in front of my huge window.

  • It's a deadbolt , , you need it plane and simple. To really say you done something put one at the top and one at the bottom of the door. Or better put in a steel door and door jam. But what about your windows?

  • 100% video man... Protection is #1...

  • No, I meant that house, you know the one, a Victorean, seems very prim and proper, but has a very large balcony, and a large back porch. with a white picket fence and the gate is a little bit open...

  • If you want to harden your house just show it dirty pictures of the slutty house down the street.

  • @fastacker2

    Haha awesome.

Except my house IS the slutty house. I'm inside it all day.

  • Excellent video, I just discovered it tonight and also like the one about the OnGuard door blocker.

  • hahahahahaha so good!

  • Nice...

  • I think its great that you are hardening, but here is some ideas for you that would be a quick and cheap. Eye screws and Bungie cords across your doors. Idea for your screen door. Have a arch way extending out about 2 ft. This will keep a team from stacking up and funnel more into a straight lane of fire for you. Keep up the berry ideas and cactus.

  • one simple cheap alternative to door locks and such is 2x6 studs sucured to the door frame with u-brackets. i spent 6.50 on one stud and u-brackets sucured with six inch bolts with nuts and washers. i have a total of four of these braces on each exterior door, making it literally easier to rip the whole door frame off of the house than do move the door a half inch. for less than $30 per door. even with a low budget, you can be secure.

  • well when my house is compromised i have wired my home to plow up but that's my last resort ..... i cant really go into much more detail

  • Very useful info...I will now subscribe.

  • Great video my friend! A couple of things to consider though, first off, the dog thing. I have read that a dog can be an awesome thing, but in a SHTF or RWOL scenerio, a dog can give away your position and let people know that you are bunkered in that house. Just something to think about! Secondly, you may want to purchase some fire extinguishers (lots of them) cause if the robbers cant get in to you, they will cause fire to smoke you out! Love your work bro! You have some great ideas!

  • @EconomicChatter

Yeah I put it all up right after the video.

  • It would be better to discourage people by shooting them with bb guns than getting geared up to kill them. If you kill an intruder, you'll end up spending multiple thousands for cleanup and defense lawyer fees. And if someone is breaking in to your house, call the cops and tell them that you're getting ready to shoot the intruder; they will be there much faster if they think you're going to kill him.

  • @k98killer

Shoot them with BB guns? You better not shoot anybody with anything unless lethal force is justified. And if it is, I am going to hit them with everything I have, not a BB gun.

In Florida we have the castle doctrine, so if anyone breaks in to your home you are justified in using lethal force.

But even better than that is making it so they can't even break in in the first place (or don't even try); which is the whole point of this video.

  • @TheLordHumungus I know what Florida law says is legal. I also happen to know that if you kill someone legally, you are in for a shitstorm of prosecution. Just because it appears that he broke in before you killed him does not mean that you won't rack up thousands in defense attorney costs during your murder trial. And even an indictment can ruin your career; no one wants to hire someone charged with a felony.

  • the transition to the arnold pic was hilarious!!!

  • @eldogg4life

haha yeah I love that poster. One of the greatest movies ever!

  • You can get a special plastic film from the hardware store that will make your windows shatterproof, i plan on using it on my door windows so no one can reach there arm threw the window after they smash it and unlock the door.

  • just move a bunch of heavy furniture in front of the door, it will act both as a door stopper and somthing the bad guys will have too slowy move threw or over giving you more time. Body armor is also crucial and cheap if you only protect your front and keep your back too the wall. You should also use long deck screws holding your lock parts onto the door. A very very good idea is buying polly sandbags and making a bunker in the middle of your house, bullets go threw walls like nothing is there.

  • @ScientologySucksAss DryWall is Cheap, Funerals are Expensive. Keep your loved One's Safe with there own Sandbag Wall of protection.

  • @ScientologySucksAss

The furniture isn't a bad idea in an emergency, but I want something that I can do every day, and hauling all my furniture around and piling in in front of the door isn't going to cut it.

  • @TheLordHumungus moving a closet or table in front of your bedroom door when your inside will keep people from hurting you while your asleep if they break in stealthly threw a window. They will have too make allot of noise too move that heavy stuff , i recomend putting empty beer bottles on top of furniture so at night it could get knocked over by the Bad guy and wake you up giving you time too arm up and move your temp barricade outa the way of your bedroom door. Maybe a motion alarm will work

  • I would install the OnGARD door brace- anothing is stonger

  • @globalsecurityexpert

Based on your videos it seems like you may be biased :)

But I do like what I see with ongard and I do plan on getting it.

  • Being the inventor, I am biased for sure- however the bottom line is this is unlike any other security product available. Please send me your name and address off-line and I will send you an OnGARD for your evaluation. If your happy with the results- please tell the world- if your not- let the world know that as well.

We have sold thousands of the OnGARD door braces and were just about the only security company that is willing to provide lab testing to back up our claims.

    Stay safe.

  • First you must be in south FL. we are not getting any rain up this way.

Secondly, in fireschool we were taught how to go through a cinderblock wall in less than 4 minutes. The idea is take out the weakest point. We have to get into buildings that are blocked by steel doors.

So don't waste the money with crazy quad tier systems for locks. Make them strong, but there is a point that you have gone too far and just force them to find another way. I get it though, it's to slow them down.

    Cont.

  • @jasonthephoneboy My dogs are the best defense, They wake us up if there is any shenanigans going on outside. My first weapon of choice is a bow, it is quiet and scares people. Sure a cocking of a shotgun makes criminals run, but it also gives away your position, I like stealthy. Of course I'm talkin about when my neighbors get drunk and start creeping around. I fear one day I'll have to hurt one of them. I worry about the protection of my wife and son....

  • @jasonthephoneboy I am in north central florida. it has been raining plenty here.

Yeah I am not going to get the tiered locks. they don't strengthen the frame which is what fails.

That is surprising to hear that you can get through concrete walls in 4 minutes. And I would say the average burglar or even cops aren't readily planning to have to go through the walls, so they would likely try other methods first, and THEN it would take them at least the 4 minutes.besides 4 minutes is enough time

  • @TheLordHumungus N.C. Fl? thats where I live, huh we got rain today. Surely you can't be far... Yeah most burglars don't carry sledge hammers or axes to break into homes, and for a FF if we see a steel door and its locked, finding another way in. Speaking of what did you do about your windows?

  • What state are you in? We just moved to FL and thinking of the high impact windows for hurricanes but thought it would help a tad for security as well.

  • ...a SWAT Entry Team would come right in your door... you need 2 steel bars 1/3 from top and bottom with Z brackets lagged to the king studs...

  • @Will224000

The 'ultimate lock' claims to stop the police battering rams, but I do plan on getting the ongard or the bars as well anyway.

  • @TheLordHumungus ...several years back, in LA, we used 'Z' braces on the king studs and 2 by 4's... that will slow them down a bit... like you said, it only adds seconds to your response time... SWATas a device that hits multiple spots at the hinge points...

  • ...we have a driveway that forces intruders into a 'Kill Zone' with a free line of fire...

  • I planted knock out roses under all the windows. I'm also planning on the video cameras with the dvr set up. They connect to your smart phone and send you a picture alert if the camera goes off. I liked that feature that way if they steal your system you still have their picture. I'm looking foward to seeing the window bars, it's hard to get them to look nice.

  • @thereidss

Yeah I agree, but I am honestly not at all worried about how they look.

  • a fence would provide an additional layer of security.

  • @UrbanSurvivalcraft

Or a small wall with spikes on top

  • @UrbanSurvivalcraft

I have a fence for the backyard, just not the front.

  • @TheLordHumungus

That's what I meant the front yard fence would help.

  • nice bro...

  • Great Vid! On my exterior doors, I use the "Door Club"

(ebay), super easy to engage/remove, even has the option to let the door open 2", or not when flipped.

  • Good timing...I get the first view!

  • Too bad everything is so expensive. 1 whole side of my house is all glass just about. The only realistic security I'll have Is being in a small town, in Canada
