just ran a check on it in our database - 43166 Midland Mainline Livery, Last Operater Cross Country - 43366 Current Operator Cross Country, Current Livery Cross Country.
I've just played the video on full screen and I think I spotted a nameplate on the rear power car in the video, so it could be 43300 "Craigentinny", as 43320 doesn't have a nameplate.
Thanks -you're right!! Checked back through my records and my crap handwriting - I had also videod them going in the other direction earlier with 43300 leading. That loco also features as 43100 in Intercity livery in my video at Clay Cross in 1997.
the only other place where you would hear that horn is on rail simulator :)

You're welcome, Derek. I've seen 318 + 300 together going northbound through Hadley Wood on 23/03/2009.

43100 also features in my "Valenta Music on the Lickey" video as well!!

Release of pressure on the horn. Quite a lot of the early power cars did it due to bad pressure in the pipes anyway
D335Media 2 years ago
Nothing to do with that... Just a simple horn when it goes past you makes it sound weird due to speed of movement...
156499SuperSprinter 2 years ago
No that's Doppler effect which as wellow has commented on.
D335Media 2 years ago
Don't think there was much Doppler effect - there's an air pressure noise as the trailing loco passes - has that any relevence?

Thanks mate!

Thanks - there's a few more to come (without 2tones) when I've put the video together!
wellowvids 2 years ago
That's a cracker, the powercars sound magnificent. The 2tone adds to the brilliance. Well captured.
