Wow, I didn't know there were harnesses made just for driving llamas! I'd been wanting to learn to take cart driving lessons, but no one in our family has a horse and we can't rent one. My aunt however raises llamas and alpacas and has at least 20 on her ranch in Colorado. We were joking about hitching some of the llamas up to a small sleigh, but I didn't know you actually could! Question, have you ever tried putting llamas in teams, or heard of it? She has a big sleigh, too heavy four one.
I, personally, drive two in a hitch, but not with any great success. The world record, unbelievably, was set in Wisconsin some years ago by a guy named Floyd Zopfi, who single-handedly drove fifty-six llamas in fourteen rows of four! But breaking a llama to harness requires much committment and time.
The very best starter is a video, now also a DVD, made by Bobra Goldsmith in the '80s entitled "Training Llamas to Drive". It is comprehensive. It is still widely available: just Google in the title. Or get back to me for further help. Yes, driving is great fun.
Really cool video!! Do you have training tips for other llama owners on where to get started? My BBF has llamas and a farm full of critters, I keep telling her driving is so much fun.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put this on YouTube but if you Google in "Llama Hardware" it will put you through to my supplier.
This is a truly amazing business where all the stuff is beautifully tailor-made and hand-finished to one's own requirements, at an incredibly low price. Added to this, the proprietor, a llama driver herself, gives any advice you request on harnessing or driving. Truly a company of the "old school".
Thank you. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put this on YouTube but if you Google in "Llama Hardware" it will put you through to my supplier.

Thank you for your comment. I buy my harnesses from Llama Products in USA. There is no supplier to my knowledge here in England. Good luck with your horse-driving.
Thank you for your kind comment. I note you are a horse-driver. I am, sadly, UK's only llama driver (heavy in USA!!!!!), have never driven a horse and have no contact with horse-drivers. Would you be willing to advise me on one aspect of my driving which bothers me and which, I am sure, is true for both horses and llamas?
