Fl studio can do all that stuff you do in cubase, just sayin if you wanted to sell your license that would save you a good 500$. then you could get more sweet gear! I do admire your setup though, very organized, which is a lot more that most amateur producers can say lol.
@Haxxie My Shure SRH 840s sound are better defined than the MS-1s (incidentally, the Shures are open, MS-1s are closed). The MS-1s have plenty of crispiness (defined treble) and thick mid to bass. I've always felt the MS-1s as my rock / heavy phones, while the Shures are my clean, mixing phones.
The Shures are arguably better for electronic music, but for the price the MS-1s are still very very good. I would be happy listening with either relative to their cost. I hope this helps :-)
Just sampled a few tracks and I think the Shures have more satisfying bass. It's extremely clean and well defined. The MS-1s are good, but not quite as good for bass definition.
@mrquan83 I heard the same, didn't try either of them yet. Got a pair of MS-1's on their way from the US though. Am I correct in saying that the Alessandros are better for rock and acoustic instruments in general?
i used Reason v2.5 / v3 when i was into making computer music. It rocked as a all in 1 studio and it was great for learning how to prog synths due to everybodys saved songs 100% compatable.
I've heard good things about Reason and it's flexability as a synth emulator. Funny you should mention it because there was a feature on Record by Propellerhead in the last Music Tech mag. I started with just tracking samples with Impulse Tracker a long time ago, so my chosen software has always been heavily biased towards tracking and tweaking samples in that way. I've used Fruity Loops (FL Studio) since version 3, and find it excellent for my needs. I then mix and tweak in Cubase.
Many ppl use Reason in the same way as you use FL, that is as a notepad cos it is really easy and super fast to work with, so its great for getting down a tune in your head (it has great presets aswell). Like you with FL many pros would then tweek and finish up in a sequencer like Cubase. If you ever fancy trying out a new soft studio i highly recomend it (good 4 noobs aswell)
I think im gonna go back to writing when i get a keyboard. I cant wait to find out how much the tech has moved on :)
Amazing!
