Where waves begin to break they are 6 to 8-feet as the poster of this video states in his description. This is not a howling windy day. They can get to 10 to 20-feet with more wind but if 15+ feet they would be dangerous because they would be close together with powerful undertoe, more undertoe than you think. See " Big Waves on The Big Lake" & note the turbulence & speed & the washback of the 2 waves. many people each year drown in the Great Lakes & some are excellent swimmers etc.
@Marcmannugget, Try putting these in your Youtube search engine: Big waves on The Big Lake Unsalted Outtake #3 - Whitefish Inspiriation Unsalted Lake Superior Storm Big waves on The Big Lake Lake Michigan Storm Lake Superior Winter Storm Footage lake Huron waves Lake Superior Storm Big Ass Waves! @christof139 again these waves are mushy as hell, and with that kinda wind, i would fly rather than surf my 6'0" quiver. what im saying is, yeah they dont have the shape and consistency of pipeline, but all these guys out here surfing deserve the most respect, because they can turn an absolute shit windswell, mushy ass wave and turn it into an awesome ride. that is what i define a surfer as, someone who can make the most out of any wave.
What an amazing ride! second only to board surfing on those waves ;)
