We had a medical evac like this on my last cruise. The weird thing was, the ship never stopped. The boat pulled alongside, but we were doing about 8-10 knots the whole time.
@ideastoday The ships don't tend to stop...it would just creat confustion and take more time...the coastguard boat can easily do 8-10kts so it makes sense for the boat just to come alongside at that speed...

I left a ship like that once; very nicely handled by both the ship and the Coast Guard.
