As a youth I attended a show that she gave during one of the Notting Hill Street Carnivals in the '70's. Her music made a profound impact upon many of the mixed emotions that I was experiencing at the time. Her portrayal of almost all the types of relationship that she obviously had lived through has helped me throughout my life. Now I thank Google and all the guys that are allowing me to relive those emotions and to introduce my family in Brazil to her almost unknown wisdom and pure talent.
One of the best shows I ever witnessed was from front row in Belfast when I was 18 (some 18 years ago). Shortly after the show I spoke with Joan as she left from the backstage. She stopped for a moment and said to me, "thank you for being so attentive" -
Front row seats to Toni and Madonna still couldn't beat that.
I saw Joan perform a few years ago in Cambridge.....and was blown away. She is a gifted singer/songwriter who elicits such an emotional response through her heartfelt performances and intensely personal lyrics.
Her concert was perhaps one of the most moving concerts I have ever attended. Simply astounding....
i don,t think she,s the one that could fill a stadium but that doesn,t matter for her, for me or anyone else that likes real music and value. she,s very special. and you can consider yourself lucky to hear her live. thanks for commenting
thanks duran. in my view she,s one of the greatest contemporary musicians, and yes, should have had a much greater audience. and thank god after a break she,s back.
This song brings me back to my youth, being a carefree and naive to the world child, it feels good.

I agree too. Joan's live performances are stunning and electrifying... For me she is the best female singer & songwriter.
In spring 2010 she'll be on tour again - I'm looking forward to it! Regards from Germany.
