The type of music are playing here is called psychobilly a mixture of rock 'n' roll and punk which was first played by American group The Cramps and became popular in the early to mid 1980s. It put an end to the rivalry in Britain between punks and Teddy Boys who were fans of rock and roll.
fantastic shows at After Dark in Lockport (Buffalo) NY. 'Canadian Ramones' - not really... more like if Johnny Thunders had been influenced by rockabilly instead of girl groups. whatever... but why call it punk rock? it's just ROCK N ROLL! the best thing about them was that they brought together the punks, the rockers, the stoners, everyone was invited to the party. love 'em.
first saw this band in Class of 84 and thought they sounded like the ramones, and now I really do, not a bad thing though, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. thanx to the uploader, cool clip, can't find a clip of aint got no sense though...
Gordie Lewis on lead guitar, he was still playing the same one when I saw them in Burlington at Chaps last summer. He's a great guy, sat at the table next to me between sets.
Saw them at Rock and Roll Heaven, a cool club at Yonge and Bloor in Toronto about 1987. I can still remember that night, the band was running on all cylinders. Wish I had a video of that show. Those days are gone, now we have to listen to the over-produced rubish they are trying to pawn off today!!!
dogturd, sorry, I missed your point. Somalia was where Canadian forces tortured and killed a poor Somali teenage boy (just search "Canada" "Somalia" " torture". so we known your mind, Adolph.
It wasn't the 'Canadian Forces' that killed the kid, it was two rogue members of the airborne regiment that did it. It was a shame that the forces had to bear the brunt of the disgrace for what these two men did. Btw, both were native Canadians.
Folks, have you lost your minds? All BigSilky did was call to task a racial attack on what had been a friendly music thread. Your responses embarrass me a white guy.
Saw them at The Key in Bala in either '83 or '84. We had a blast dancing on the tables. It was a real teenage beer drinkin' party and we were having some kinda fun!!
Bigsilky... why couldn't it have been YOU instead of Jane Creba to catch one in the torso on Boxing Day?
Please move to Chicago and maybe we can watch the cellphone video of some of your brothers smashing your head to mush with a split railroad tie like they did to that kid a few days ago... or move to New Orleans to help the nigs like those doctors did, only to be murdered for your trinkets.
Fly with the crows, kid, you'll get shot with them.
You mistake all black people for thugs and scum. Guess what? Those thugs and scum are trash. Just like white people have rednecks and white trash, and other races have their trash.
They're just low-class people — much like yourself.
If you think all black people are violent, whitey-killin' animals, well then I just feel sorry for you. You're ignorant.
Teenage Head are a Hamilton band. I used to hear them practice at Cannon and Ottawa. Saw them play a dozen times. Best gig was Deep Wave. A huge mosh, I got near stomped to death, cause I went down in the crowd. Fuckin 'eh I did love the head. Played them all the time. Super party and road trip music. Get some. Yeah Frankie Venom.
I saw them At SPATS in north Etobicoke. man the place was hoppin. We had alot of fun back then and I cant beleive Im still around to talk about it. LOL. Times have changed, someone I knew breifly was killed this week.he was 48 years old with a wife and kids.A 15 year old with a stolen car who was on parol for stolen cars . T boned him. Killed him. So sad. Kids today are fucked. We had fun back then. what a bunch of loosers.
hmmm, 1983 it was about fun, 2009 it's about being a gangsta and shooting everybody and dying in a hail of bullets at a pit bull fight when you're 14.
If rap music or that gansta rap crap as I call it was either band or just not played regularly on Tv or radio stations his culture would start to be just like the way it was back in the days when everyone had fun with teenage head and other bands like them....
They also played here in London at Victoria Park as I recall. I remember the way the singer could catch a cigarette between his fingers. AHHH the memories!
I saw these guys here in London, Ontario on Wellington Street north of Bradley. I forget what the name of that bar was. At one time afterward it was a strip joint.
at Molly Blooms, did you play somewhere around September? because i remember Teenage Head was playing there ON MY BIRTHDAY and i couldnt go see them cause it wasnt an all ages
hey custer, wasnt larrys awesome?i didnt see it but my friend swears he seen the POLICE there years ago before they became popular(when they played real punk rock)77,78 79.man larrys, what a place to see a band.
Larry's was cool, but it had a certain - something ... ;)
It was full of roaches & came complete with whores upstairs, along with a burly guard who'd run into the room if one of them 'mistakenly' knocked the phone off the receiver.
Still got a "Larry's" T-Shirt around here that Jack Morrow gave me - featuring Frank Sinatra with a safety pin for an earring.
I live in Mississauga and have seen these guys numerous times over the years at Entex, Hardball, and Larry's Hideaway to name a few. They were the highest energy local band to see. I was shocked when I heard the news. Frankie will be sadly missed. RIP
R.I.P. Frankie The End Of A Era & Legend....Glad I Had The Houner To See U Perorm @ Gage Park Y109 Picnic 3rd Annual I Have Pics & Video Had The Best Time Best Concert P.S. I Know Jack Peddler The Greatest Drummer Who Is Friends with My Brother & Ray Matrick u will be Gratly Missed :(
Saw them about 3 times in Kitchener Waterloo and Cambridge. I went for my first pilot medical the day after the Cambridge show and the doctor said I had high frequency hearing loss. Hopefully only temporary!
I had the best time at Teenage Head in Winona, that was the first night I got laid by my future husband and father of my children. I am talking 1980's oh what a night!!!! I will never forget!!!! Love you guys!!!!!!!
yeah i just picked up the new Marky Ramone and Teenage Head CD Its great. There still going strong. And Marky is exellent. Id suggest anyone to go pick it up
I remember when you and your dad would come into Big V drugstore at Barton & James when you were little, where I used to work. I was always to shy to tell your dad how kick ass he and Teenage Head were. They still rock the Hammer like no other band!!
Does he still have the pink cowboy boots? Man I was like 20 when I worked there. I was going to stay with the company, but when they were sold to shoppers, that was it for me. I knew it would never be the same and I was right.
too bad you missed them when they were in their prime, they had everyone dancing- they were and to some degree remain a bouncy rockabilly/punkish/ semi-pop band- it was always fun, no heavy lyrics, from Steel City Hamilton, and attitude--well absolutely, if you were trying to outsmart them!
In my humble opinion you are correct. And I was NEVER into the punk thing. But, goddamn I loved to go see the Head. I missed the Ontario Place riot (3,000 general admission seats and 15,000 showed up), but I've seen them at their best (Nag's Head North) and worst (opening for Triumph at the 81/82 New Year's Eve concert at the Gardens), and they are still one of my top ten favourite bands. It ain't sophisticated, but holy crap, they can make you move your feet. Let's Shake!
30 years since Westdale, and following Teenage Head around; it all started when I thought there was a band practising in the next block in west hamilton, but it turned out to be these guys playing on Frank's front porch - Dave des Roches was singing, Frank drumming...
Magic,My pal & guitarist in 2 or 3 bands with me is canadian & brought all these fab Teenage Head songs over to the Scottish/English borders for me to love forever! Cheers Doogie my Hearts On Fire!
Why won't this video play??? I remember first seeing them at The Undergound, lower level in the Colonial Tavern...drummer wearing a chrome ww2 helment...frankie venom pretending to drop kick the old draft carrying waiter as he walked by...yep...those where the days.
I love Teenage head. I remember seeing them on TV in 1980. It was on a short-lived pre-MuchMusic show called STAR CHART hosted by Terry David Mulligan. They did "Something on My Mind" and "Let's Shake". I'm wondering if any of you reading these posts know of or remember this show. Curious.
Hey krunchguy! Thanks for brining up STAR CHART.I was trying for the life of me to remember the name of that show about 2 weeks ago. I remeber seeing Teenage Head and The Imps on there.
Oh my God does this video bring back fond memories. They were a guaranteed sell out at any club they played at here in Edmonton...ahhh those were the days. I still have some signed T-Shirts from them. Thanks alot for posting the video... Let's Go to Hawaii!! Cheers
I agree, I'm from Canada, and we all hung out together back in the old days. Their shows were fantastic-Blondie showed up @ a place in Toronto (long gone now) called Larry's Hideaway, this was a great club !!!
Larry's Hidaeway!! I used to live there in college, My room was above the stage On the 2nd Floor. Toronto's Allen Gardens look very strange without the Carlton there anymore. That place was Something!!
I remember....As long as 1979..19780..1981...we were there.

i respect them and listen to some of their songs when they are on the radio. but, as a younger person I have to say it's outdated.
bdawgmarsdin 3 months ago
@bdawgmarsdin are you retarded? They're an awesome old punk band not a brand new pop synth fuck up. I prefer it outdated.
milesaboveu 1 week ago
@milesaboveu i don't think i'm retarded no. although, i haven't took a test.
You instantly ignored everything positive I said about them and took the one negative comment I wrote.
There is no need to get outraged like that.

30 years since Westdale, and following Teenage Head around; it all started when I thought there was a band practising in the next block in west hamilton, but it turned out to be these guys playing on Frank's front porch - Dave des Roches was singing, Frank drumming...

1984 - slam dancing on acid on a Teenage Head boat cruise around Toronto harbor - ah the joys of a misspent youth. What a blast.

A blast from the past, use to hang out and party with those boys, in my Toronto days. Frankie kissed the carpet many times.

I went to Westdale and in grade 9 the bass player was in my auto mech class.
There was a strange groupie girl that grabbed my balls in woodshop. She was a teenage head groupie and wore a funny head dress.
We all thought she was a freak but all thought she gave good head.

I love Teenage Head. Truly one of the few highlights from Class of 1984.

They were in the movie Class of 1984, playing 'Ain't Got No Sense' - their best song in my opinion.
They are the best band from Canada.
