  • I can study at home too

  • OSU! :)

  • @kafir, correct on 1st and 2nd, but 3rd is a combination of body punch to left and right, face punch up and down. Osu!

  • @fightluv Sir

From 1910CE-1945CE what is now North & South Korea was the province of Chosen of the Japanese Empire. The Korean native Martial Arts were subdued and the Japanese Martial Arts were given focus throughout the province of Chosen. During the 1950s Gen. Hi would come up with Tae Kwon Do. The Ryukyu Te/Okinawan Karate had only been in mainland Japan since the 1930s (Okinawan 1st prefectual time period was 1879CE-1945CE). So, there is truth in your statement, so I believe. Osu

  • Shito-Ryu, Goju Kai, Go Kan Ryu, Kyokushin, Shuri-Ryu have their own Taikyoku kata based upon the original Shotokan. The korean arts of Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do have thier variations as well called Kicho Hyung. A common symbol used in Korean arts for the Kicho Hyung is a human baby learning to walk.

  • The Chinese kanji used for the name Taikyoku pronounced as "Tai Chi" in Chinese, which translated as "Grand Ultimate". In keeping with this idea when I teach / train in these katas i do it Tai Chi style and I also combine the three kata as one kata because of the shortness of each of the kata. In Japanese, Taikyoku translates as "First Cause" and was developed by GM Funakoshi's son, Yoshitaka “Gigō” Funakoshi Sensei.

  • GM Funakoshi wrote: “Because of its simplicity, the kata is easily learned by beginners. Nevertheless, as its name implies, this form is of the most profound character and one to which, upon mastery of the art of karate, an expert will return to select it as the ultimate training kata” (page 42, ‘Karate-Do Kyohan’

  • taikyoku refers to the Chinese philosophy of Taiji. it was introduced fist in Shotokan by GM Funakoshi as a way to simplify the principles of the already simplified Heian / Pinan katas. GM Oyama was a student of GM Funakoshi and thus these katas were introduced in Kyokushin. However in the modern day not many karate systems Hombu still require these itroductory katas

  • Is this basicly like the poomses in taekwondo? =)

  • Man i am gonna start taking karate kyokushin lessons in 1 week , but i am afraid that the other kids will say : WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! GET OUT OF HERE! ..... how could i conquer this fear?

  • @xxXLukas12Xxx i am a newbie to this and have my first kata tomorow! i felt the exact same as you did but everyone was actually very welcoming. but i do go to an adult one so unless the kids are immature then just ignore them and focus

  • @sebzero2 good for you =) But.. i leave in a country that all kids are imature and acting tough LITHUANIA and its getting to be dangerous to live ther

  • As kyokushin practitioner and my interest in East Asian languages, taikyoku when pronounce in Mandarin will be taichi. I wonder if this kata has any Taoist roots.

  • holy crap this is the same as a wtf poomse. i knew gen choi copied karate but LOL.

  • @mjfan123085 True. Most taekwondo practitioners are starting to take the truth that their craft came from karate.

  • Im 8th Kyu, Apparently I owned these Katas at my last Grading ;-) My fav Kata is Pinan Ni

  • @AlmostDeadFamous im 5th kyu

  • huhh... i need to knw the 3rd kata... ( today i got the exam for karate =='' )

  • I need the first Kata o3o

  • white belt kata know it im looking for the fifth kata

  • Pretty cool. Pretty similar to my basic poomse in tkd.

  • That's what i do at my karate.Sorta.

  • this is very helpful for review. our style varies slightly but the basics are here. I'm curious why everyone is SO critical... there are different styles, different abilities, different ideas, but all from the same origin. why can't we all just get along? :-)

  • taikyoko 2 is supposed to be middle strikes right? thats the way i learned it.

  • @juacimm u're supposed to aim for head not middle

  • @juacimm. first is middle, second is head, and third is middle

  • @Flip9698 Nope First is Middle, Second is Head, Third is Head.

  • @12b00mer

    no

  • and his kokutsu is NOT proper

  • ha. he wasn't look before he turned!

  • Their ikite's are so high D:

Well I train shotokan so different styles I guess :P

  • I'm 61 and recently took up Karate. This is a useful video if only I knew how to save it and also get it to work! Keeps stopping for me. But I'm not that good on computers anyway I'm afraid.

  • Thanks for this video I can practice the kata at home thanks to it.

  • i noticed that the taikyoku sono ichi and taikyoku sono ni are very similar. the only difference i can clearly see is his punches. are there any other differences between the two katas?

  • @ironman504pwns One's for torso and head levels respectively. No difference really.

  • ermm supperaadet that is believe is a 2nd dan....there fore should know very well that when moving ur feet in zenkutsu..its heels out moving on the ball of your foot..

  • i'm a beginner for me its very good to learn as much as i can

    i like it:)

im now 2 month on karate i like it a lot

  • This is wrong. Hes meant to do a straight punch, feet movements are wrong to, and 2 has an inside to out cross block and only high punches down the middle. Poor

  • @james12james Typical american losers to say!

you know who that is? If I'm not mistaken that is a young matsui on the first kata.

You are the one who is terrible, try to practice rather than sitting on youtube thinking you are the best

  • @supperaadet Im a kiwi for starters, New Zealander if you've never heard that expression. I praction Kempo karate whilst i have tae kwon do on a monday wednes day and friday night, 6pm till 730pm on monday an wednesday and 530pm till 7pm on friday. I do practice actually quite alot. Did 8 months of Tae Kwon Do in 3 months because of determination.

  • @james12james I don't care how much you practice. New Zelander, eh? so what? Jeg synes fortsatt du er en kødd.

  • Hou là votre pas le seul l'un qui peut parler une autre langue. If you didnt care then why did you say to "practice"? Not only are you stereotypical, thinking when people say something is wrong there instantly americans but also up yourself because you can speak another language.

  • @james12james I did get it. I know at leastt 5 languages if you must know. Of course I'm stereotypical, I can't stand pepole in genereal

  • Then dont comment. It's as simple as that

  • @james12james I can comment as much as I will.

  • @supperaadet You mean "I can coment as much as I LIKE".

  • @james12james ohh so tough. just remember that I'm not from an english speaking natioin, so my written grammar are not up to your standards. you grammar nazi

  • @supperaadet Yeah calling someone a Nazi is sooo cool. Who cares about the 6 million odd jews killed in germany because of them...

  • @james12james Most was in Poland if you knew your history. And if you didn't knew it, my family did fight against the Nazi invaders in my contry, so shut up.

  • @supperaadet Know my histroy? Ummm its part of Poland now, but was invaded and most conquared by Germany during WWII. And if your family fought against the Nazis then why mention the Nazis in an insult?

  • @james12james I think you should take this fight out on the dojo..

  • @supperaadet The person doing the 3 different katas is Ryu Narushima a 4th dan under matsui, but they do look very alike.

  • @baard91 my bad. They do look alike!

  • Comment removed

  • hey i had a tough time lerning it to but now it's just grown fast in my mind

  • that guy's technique is awesome. His footwork is so smooth.

  • @sergiu21 ITS NOT THAT CRAZY FOR A GUY WITH A BLACK BAND XD

  • An art is only lame is you or your teacher have a lame approach to training. Every art has strengths and weaknesses, because they are made by man. Victory in battle depends on the fighter more than the way he/she fights. A weak karate player will never beat a strong kung fu player, and vice versa. Under the right circumstances, anyone can be beaten.

  • @deek77

Am right agreeing with your opinion, but watching that uneffective punches, simple and open moves, and repeating the same empty things I have no motivation for Karate. Sorry If I offend karate guys with that.

  • No offense at all, a person should take pride in their chosen art. Wing chun is not for everyone, same with karate & other arts. Bear in mind, in karate, these types of forms aren't considered real kata. Just something to get beginners acclimated to basic stances and movement. They're meant to be simple...

  • @deek77

Maybe, but In other styles the basic things are really hard to do. I haven't been given any style in kung Fu yet, And the basic thing I've learn in 15 years are harder than all the things I see in karate stuff. None of karate black belts can do the Shaolin Basic Training.

  • Yeah, kung fu tends to take the cerebral approach to fighting. But karate was originally designed to be more linear and to the point. Body type and terrain tend to play into it as well. Okinawans were stockier than most Chinese and Japanese, and many worked near the ocean, so they used more upper body techniques and rooted stances. This led to simpler techniques. Besides, why should karate try to be like Shaolin? They're just two different approaches to combat, neither is right or wrong.

  • ...This is kyokushin, a style known more for raw power than for elegant kata. There are other karate styles, like Goju and Uechi Ryu, that have more intricate kata due to their roots in kungfu. Uechi Ryu, is arguably the one karate style resembling kungfu the most, as it is the only known surviving rendition of Pangai-noon kungfu. I love karate, but the fact that it has roots in kungfu shows there is value in both styles. The history of the two are more connected than people want to admit.

  • Kata is simply a method of drilling the moves into your head. You think of how they work. Taikyoku San Ichi, for example - say you're left arm to left arm with someone, or have an reason to latch onto their sleeve. You step to the side in deep stance, pulling their arm down, step through with a punch and instead of a low block, twist your hips and throw them. The wrist movement of a low block makes a quick way to get out of a wrist hold - and sometimes go for a groin strike.

  • @Xanartik1

And there lies my problem. Who said that in a fight you are going to grab your wrist? That's the reason that Bruce Lee created JKD 'cuz in a fight there's noting written and the hits are random, the fighter needs to adapt and This karate shows a rigid way of movements unable to adapt, robot-kata or something. Well, I won't comment anymore 'cuz anyone get my idea. :S

  • Kata is built on kihon and aims to teach positional balance and transition, breathing, correct linkage of the hips in techniques, form and power. Kata is a record of an idealized fight. Kumite is built on kata, and that is the practical part of karate. No one is going to make a deep zenkutsu dachi in a fight or do a text book chudan soto uke because the techniques won't work. Kumite requires a whole new set of skills which are rooted in kata. You can't just judge a style of karate by its katas.

  • @hhk213 Well, my friend. Karate is just famous.

  • kung fu is only a wild dance, it's powder for the eyes, it'snothing compare to karate.

  • Yes indeed some dojo give belts too easily. But I don't think anyone here would last more than a second against a seinsei at my dojo. And if you think karate is so useless, why are you commenting here in the first place. Some people here are learning these katas and appreciate videos like this one. I do not denigrate your martial art. Do not denigrate mine.

  • @frank1lastfall As a wushu practitioner myself, I can only completely agree with your statement.

Yes, many people in wushu have more able bodies than those who do karate, but karate is far more practical as a "fighting" martial art than wushu.

  • @Sangiz Man, If you practice a real good Kung Fu you won't need Karate, believe me. u.u

  • are u tlaking about this video if u are u better shut up

  • lol, traditional movement there is a sweep inwards towards the lead leg when moving in zen stance but in kyokushin they move straight forward... know the difference...

  • a brown belt told me in this kata the hand you punch with is the direction you go its a different taikyoko im a blue belt by the way

  • Thanks a lot, it's really helpful!

    OSU

  • I just started Kyokushin recently, and one trick I found to help me remember the steps of these Kata is this:

Every 90 degree turn is to the left.

Every 180 degree turn is to the right.

Every 270 degree turn is to the left.

If you can keep that in mind, then all that's left is remember the order of the turns and of course, when the three chudan punches come.

  • u notice there's no shimmy in shimmy out during the stepping... is it because thats an okinawan thing?

    peace

    goju purple belt

    kyokushin newbie

  • Don't know what you're talking about, but this video is how its done.

    pz.

    green stripe kyokushin

  • When I did kyokushin I was told to step straight forward (no shimmy) so that I couldn't be tripped while my feet were together in mid-shimmy. In shotokan I'm told to shimmy so I don't get kicked in the groin mid-step. I know I'd rather be on the floor coz I was tripped rather than being booted in the groin lol. There may be other reasons but that was the one I was told. Good luck in your training

  • Great video! Ôsu!

  • we are using orange not red belt

anyway about ten years ago there were no orange belt

  • Now, back to "things should not be ignored by "Our style does this so". I totally agree with you. There are so many things we do not know. To you this style of Karate he is showing here. This is your good luck day of Find and study new things. I personally think. Osu.

  • Now, back to "things should not be ignored by "Our style does this so". I totally agree with you. There are so many things we do not know. To you this style of Karate he is showing here. This is your good luck day of Find and study new things. I personally think. Osu.

  • Didnt mind to tease or disrespect everyone who practise this martial art. I've studied differet martial arts and most of them claim for introspective and self understanding, which is one of the beautyness of their practice.

My critic comes from the tactical-operative aspect of the karate hereby shown. Technic, strength and functionality should be considered all at the same time, not something apart from study and practicing, just because "our stile does this so"

    Don't you think so?

  • If you do not mind me to comment. For me, Karate is teaching me a strength and principal. Each time I say "Osu", I think/respect/willing to learn/killing own ego. May be you are strong. May be you have lots of experience. However, Karate is unlimited learnnig. If you think this video is not your style, good that you could learn some. If you think it does not teach you or not good enough, I personally feel that it is against "Osu". Everyday Word, "Osu". Same as Seiken Zuki, unlimited learnning.

  • these r quite similar 2 korean taikiks (4give me 4 my spelling) from tkd. this has given me a pretty good idea of the basic fighting techniques of kyoukushin... of course i cant use thm in a real fight unless i learn them properly from a professional.

  • Nice vid, but i was looking for taikyoku ni, not taikyo Sono Ni.

  • Your wrong dear friend. kyokushinkai is the greatest martial art in the world. and if you try a training i promise you will crying

  • I've studied karate shotokai, and find it much more solid in its basic concepts than trying to kill flies with fists meanwhile hips and legs seem to be on vacation.

Do not want to disrespect you doshi-san, but perhaps it is you who should try chinese martial arts or other Okinawa Karate stiles. You would find out what i do mean, and maybe can't explain

Feet, hips, legs, shoulders, fists and mind all share the same being. Why then shouldn't take their part in every of this being's wishes?

  • These help so much:D

thanks too ever put these on here
