  • ...Skwisgaar?

  • I think my PSP can do pretty much everything that this thing can.

    I want the Pandoraaaa.

  • For all the dumbasses who are talking about how double a batteries are better No they are not they are garbage literally you throw them away and fill up landfills stupid pieces of shit its people like you who destroy the earth

  • Excellent and very informative video. Good job.

    Gib-be-ae is win.

  • My WIZ is coming tomorrow. It's only been a few days since I ordered it, but it's so hard to wait for it. :(

I can't wait to take all my Sega Master games with me!!

  • The Gee-bee-aye?

  • that looks ok... has nothing on the pandora in terms of performance & design ! :{ alas my pre order for one went AWOL & ive now got my eye on the viliv s5 {hmm and mod it with a custom/detachable ps3 pad chassis .. wiz to me seems like a great idea and a smart move for those into retro emus like on this vid. the built in flash player 8 is swish :D.

  • That screen looks awesome. Nice demo.

I wonder if MM would run faster in 8 bit color instead of 16? I got a couple of mame games to run full speed on the gp2x by forcing 8bit color (half the data going across the bus), Can the wiz play downloaded youtube videos?

    Thanks for the video.

  • Sehr geil ! Das Teil kauf ich mir auf jeden Fall .

  • I'm not impressed My gp2x F200 can do the same shit nothings different about the wiz accept for the fact its got a bigger processor but they fucked up on out board gear for it nothings available for it yet!

  • > I'm not impressed My gp2x F200 can do the same shit

    > nothings different about the wiz accept for the fact its got

    > a bigger processor but they fucked up on out board gear

    > for it nothings available for it yet!

The fact that it's got a rechargeable battery makes it a winner to me. The 533 Mhz ARM processor adds to it, and the fact I know Linux coding well puts it over the top.

  • well good luck trying out the emulators when they change the firmware so goes the emulators to pot you have to find them all over again!

  • > well good luck trying out the emulators when they change

    > the firmware so goes the emulators to pot you have to find

    > them all over again!

    It's LINUX.

Do you need to get new versions of Microsoft Office when you get a motherboard with an updated BIOS?

  • what the hell are you saying dj2bklyn :\ i have three gp2x, a gp2x fist edition, an F-100 and the F-200, and they updated the firmware a lot during these years, the software still runs

  • thats what I said dude I was talking about the wiz it has no value im happy with my F200 and I also had the F100 model as well.

  • Why would a firmware break the emulators? It's not like the emulators are built into the firmware. Gamepark has no problem with you running your own shit on their systems, it's not like how Sony will kill your PSP every time you put in a commercial game.

  • why are you sending me this message

  • I haven't sent you any message. When someone replies to a comment you made on a video, youtube sends you a notice so that you can reply to them and they get the notice that you replied and so on.

  • The gp2x is also a linux based machine, I have one myself (awesome machine besides the joystick).

Using rechargeable AA batteries is more convenient then built in batteries. a pair of 2500mah AA's is 6wh and in a pinch you can use alkaline batteries. Newer rechargeable AA's are close to 3000mah now and may get even more power in the future.

  • > Using rechargeable AA batteries is more convenient then

    > built in batteries.

Standard batteries are NOT more convenient than a rechargeable system. The Wiz recharges by simply plugging it into your USB port. Not quite certain how long a charge lasts since I've not tested it, but I don't need to charge it every day. I've charged it twice since I got it, 2 weeks ago.

  • Where you going to get a usb port on the road?

I understand why gp went with the rechargeable battery, I just like AAs better. The gp2x will run a good 5 hours on a pair of aa's so with a pair in the machine and a pair in case I have 10 hours of gameplay and really the 5 is all I ever need. I will never have to worry about battery availability with the aa size. Even with a "standard" li-ion battery, they may not be avail 8 years from now and I still use my Atari with is 30 years old.

  • > Where you going to get a usb port on the road?

They're everywhere. You can buy a device which is nothing more than a 5V AC to DC converter at any electronics store.

Batteries - it's just so wasteful and bulky.

    > I still use my Atari with is 30 years old

Atari what? 30 years ago was 1979.

  • Rechargeable AA batteries are just as efficient and convenient as the rechargeable battery in a Wiz.. I just found out that a Wiz is much slower than the gp2x at the same clock speed and that kinda sux, but alas it can go up pretty high(I've heard 800mhz). I am a big Wiz fan, but these are shortcomings.

My Atari 2600 heavy sixer was made in 77. The original 77 model is the best and the joysticks from the 77 model are the best. They have a suspension inside them and don't wear out.

  • > Rechargeable AA batteries are just as efficient and convenient

    > as the rechargeable battery in a Wiz..

Actually, they aren't. Ever seen a AA lithium ion rechargeable battery? They require monitoring and electronics so they don't blow up when being recharged, which is why they aren't made. Basically, liability issues. You can't get standard cell rechargeable batteries with the same energy density of an integrated battery yet.

  • That is the advantage but shorter life span is the disadvantage. I still plan on getting one either way.

  • > I just found out that a Wiz is much slower than the gp2x at

    > the same clock speed

I'm having a hard time believing this. The GPU core is entirely separate and it's the same instruction set - ARM which is a RISC architecture. Unless there is a serious screwup in the programming of the Linux kernel that resides on it. Even so, I'd expect to be seeing this in forums everywhere, and I've not.

  • Check the gp32x com forums for the release of picodrive or temper (I forget which one). Games that run fine on the gp2x at <200 mhz have to run at 400 or more on the wiz to achieve the same speed. It is suspected that memory speeds are tied to processor speed and that the memory is too slow when the processor is at 200mhz (on the wiz). It's very disappointing.

  • Not only I found this console very appealing but you went to play two of my favourite games ever: parasol stars and rainbow islands! I might get one soon...

  • I hope you are being sarcastic...

  • whats the link to buy 1 is it in the us yet cuz i want 1 bad it looks very cool

  • Why are there 2 d-pads on that thing?

  • There aren't two d-pads anymore. The second pad is separated into buttons arranged in a cross, to make it aesthetically pleasing.

  • There aren't two d-pads anymore. The second one is four separate buttons in a cross arrangement. Much better! :)

  • How much does/will it cost?

  • 150€ ~170$

  • Do you know if the Wiz will be able to run GP2x games? Like .gpe files?

  • In many cases it will run them, other cases will require a recompile (at least that is what gp says).

  • erm screen is a little blurry on movement :( try some snes/md games please.

  • No, OLED screens don't have motion blur.

  • As you can see the "glossy" aspect is an heresy.

When will this crazyness be over ?!

  • "The GiBeAa might not be good for my big hands, but it may be fitted for you........or children"

  • I was gonna get this system(still may) but as I'm resrchin my options, I'm loving the Nintendo DS with an EZFlash 3-1 and a CycloDS . I'm all about retro games, and the machines have options by the truckload, but they don't have a DS emu. I love my DS games. Besides there are alot of emulators for the DS too. probably not as many as for an open source system, but they have most of the ones I like. Gameboy, GBA,NES,SNES,sega master,gamegear,segacd,32x,neogeo, an even a Texas Instruments emulator.

  • On second thought I definately will get one, because I just found out that they have Turbo Graphix-16/PC Engine emulators. and I love me some Bonk's Adventure. But there is still an issue of budget. I can get a DS for 80 bucks at gamestop and I kind find both slot 1 and 2 flashcarts for under 30 bucks. That's 140. plus the price of a microSD memcard. I would come out like a fat rat for just under 200. So for now, I'll go with the DS. But this system is a definate buy for any serious retro gamer.

  • clean your wiz !

  • I can hear your German accent, I have that one as well :)

  • hes wrong about the marble madness playing on gp2x it played fine

  • Is it possible for OLED Screens to have stuck/dead pixels?

I have two prickish pixels on my ipod touch 2G.

  • Yep

  • Hey! This GBA played Sword of Mana? It was my fav game <: Well.. wizz seem rly good, but I prefer staying with my GBA micro.

Anyway.. how much does WIZZ cost?

  • EvilDragon1717 well maybe wiz is better than micro, but micro was fail anyways, 2nd verson of gba:sp was waay better, even it dont have headphone jack build-in, its still better than micro, also SP has better&bigger screen than micro(2nd version, even 1st version is okay)

  • Emulation=/=Piracy !! Emulation itself is legal, as long as you own the games.

  • Yes, and I'm sure Evildragon owns all 2000 of those arcade machines. Don't lie to yourself; the major reason why these machines sold outside of Korea is because of emulation, which nobody does legally.

  • @DIMORULEZ Thats why I vote for the pirateparty

  • GPH are Korean. They don't sell these games, nor do they make or bundle any emulators.

Support American companies. Enjoy your. Zune?

    (Iknowyou'reatrollright?)

  • You know youtube is an international website right?

  • fuck you and your americanism dude :)

  • Not everyone uses these machines just for emulation and for those who do, they are using them "on the go" and that doesn't effect your sales. Which by the way, the game companies hate you just as much as the pirates. If it were up to them there would be NO second hand market and they are moving in that direction. Check out the new psp for details.

  • Doesn't affect my sales maybe, but it affects my right to copy my work, that's what a copyright is. You don't have the right to copy the works I hold the rights to.

If you can't attain it legally, then you don't deserve to have it. I'd rather a stupid kid wait bored on the bus than have one of mine or my client's right to copy infringed.

  • What about the consumers rights? Fucking mickey mouse changes the copyright laws.

If we are allowed to copy cd's to mp3 and tape shows off of tv, we are allowed to copy programs that we paid for and run them on any computer capable of doing so. If you think it's just kids you are wrong. I'm 39 years old and still enjoy games occasionally.

  • "for my opinion" -> "in my opinion"

"direct in the cam." -> "directly in the cam"

"really works good" -> "really works well"

    GET OFF!

be happy he made a video.

  • lol. read my post. its not like that i'm unhappy with this video, being made

i was just trying to help him, improving his english... I'm also not a native speaker but I would be grateful for someone to correct me.

  • sure why not

"I'm also not a native speaker but I would be grateful for someone to correct me."

the "but" should be changed into an "and" since "but" would mean something among the lines of

"I'm also not a native speaker, despite that I would be grateful for someone to correct me."

which would only make sense if you actually were a native speaker

  • You are right. Thank you for correcting me, even though this was not language mistake but more a logical one.

  • Awesome video! Could you do a wiz video featuring the sega genesis emulator? This video is great because you are actually speaking! :)

  • I have to try Neutopia on GP2X now to see if something's actually bad there, heh. This version of Temper is faster than the previous though (which is faster than the one before, etc)

  • Exophase, i love you ;) i'm still using Temper 0.70 on the gp2x and it's so awesome, is your website down? i'd love to donate a little for your efforts on the wiz

  • Thanks - what website are you referring to? I don't really have one.

If you want to donate to me, my paypal is my e-mail address. If you can't find it then you know where to find me ;D

  • gutes video ED

macht lust auf nen WIZ :P

  • O_O wow! that's really impressive! And here I thought the GBA micro's screen looked good, lol. OLED really is something. This video may have just convinced me to get a Wiz. How do the buttons feel?

  • Nice video ED.
