Awesome ! Great introduction - I own the honey bee V2 , it has been my primary training heli - however , I also own the belt CP , and after having done basic flight with both ( no 3D on belt CP yet !! - lol ) I agree with your CP comments - once you understand , CP helis are not to complicated .
@CrazyHeliDude Hi, I would like to buy a transmitter, a Spektrum DX... It's my first transmitter and i'm thinking about a DX6i or a DX7. Which one should i get? The DX7 is cheaper btw. (because there's no receiver, and i don't need one.)
My one friend gave me the blade MCX2 as a gift. I got good enough with that I just went out and bought the SR. He says I should not fly it; I should take it back, return it, and buy the 120 SR. The problem is I can not afford both, and I wanted a CP heli. Do you think the SR is too big of a jump from the MCX2? Or, in your opinion should I just take my chances and fly it? Thanks
@N3SQV - If you use training skids to learn to hover, and take it very slow and easy, no I do not think it will be too much. It will just take time. Have patience and take it slow. Happy flying.
@N3SQV I picked up the Blade SR a week and a half ago coming from a cheap generic S107 indoor only 3 channel. My thought was the same, I didn't want to spend $150 on the 120 SR and then convince my wife that I needed this other $200 heli a few months later. I honestly regretted my decision for the first few days. I was scared to even fly it. But once I threw on the training skids, I was fine. In fact, I learned to hover in 15-20 mph wind. I also used an RC flight sim on my PC a lot.
I bought this beast 2 months ago, i smashed it quite quickly, so be prepared as mr skunk tells, this is not a easy beginner, and it states on the box "advanced"...
But i also tried it out when i was drunk, a bit obvious i needed new blades quick :)
So i let it rest while buying spare parts, and havent flown it since, its a bit frightening when it spools up, it can cut off fingers/limbs if your not carefull..
And u need a lot of space and the tail heaviness is also smth i didnt think of,
@mehe456 - Only if you're prepared to crash a few times and fork out some cash for repairs and have a lot of persistence. A CP heli like the SR is quite a leap up from the msr. Otherwise I would say go with the 120 SR first then go to the SR.
@mehe456 - It wouldn't be my first recommendation, no. Either go with the 120 SR, Honey Bee FP v2, or perhaps better yet, wait a little while till the Blade mCPx comes out. Right around the corner. An awesome little collective pitch heli.
It would be great if you could put a link in the description to each video of the series.
I found Part 3, and it took me awhile to find part one because I had to search through your video or I had to scroll over the video and wait for the video title to pop up.
so far so good i will keep watching ive got a blade cx2 (dont fly very good in forward), cp (cant fly it yet), msr (i love flying it and getting good at it), and blade tandom (boring flying it) i will be getting a sr soon!! i have subscribed to get more info on the sr and the honey bee to see what i need to get next.
Glad you're likin the series! :) Incidentally I just uploaded a FFF vid of the HBFP V2 ... you might wanna check it out. I'm gearing up to do the next vid in the SR series, FP vs CP. Stay tuned as it should be here shortly. Happy flying.
Thanks for spending time to do this video looking forwrd to the next i have been fkying the msr indoors during the winter to keep my hand in cant wait for some nice weather!
Well I appreciate your honesty. I must admit myself the video is a bit "slow paced," but wanted to try to give an overview of the roughly what the series will be. I'll have to pick up the pace a bit next time. Happy flying.
@eskybeltcpflyer ...i seen this kind of stuff b4 beltcpflyer.... just some anonymous coward who doesnt like what crazyheli is doin. .. what he dont realize is all this inspired me to go out for a sr ...keep up the great work crazyhelidude lovin your stuff man!
Nice video. Good content for beginners and intermediates alike. Look forward to more. I have a Blade MSR, do you think the SR would be a good next step or should I venture to a T-rex or something?
Thanks for your comment. If you're really proficient at flying your mSR and can easily do forward flight and completely hover/control the heli in all orientations, then you can step to learning a SR, just take it very slow and light. Align Trex is in a category of it's own. You could go that direction but it will be significantly more expensive, both to buy a Trex and repair it after crashes. If you go with Trex, DEFINITELY get training gear and take it very slow. HTH
A question - do you have any recommendations for books to read as an overview of part names, general concepts, etc.?

I was wondering the same thing. There is only a 1 inch difference between this and the cpp2 and the blades are the sane so I think it is.

I have a DX6i for airplanes and have always wanted to have a scale heli capable of outdoor forward flight, figure eights and such...
I have a mcx heli, since they were new, with a modded swash plate and such...
Is this SR heli compatible with the new Huey body?
If so, is this my Perfect Heli???
axelsfolks 1 year ago
@axelsfolks - I'm not sure if it's compatible as I've never seen it. Do you know the size of the scale fuse? Or provide a link if you have one.
