@CrazehWeirdo Yea i have been called punk, goth, emo, and scene. I hate stereotypes soo much. One day at my school someone asking this person if they were gothic because they were wearing a black shirt, how stupid is that. I wish people would stop with the stereotype and grow up. Grr
i remember my first day in middleschool i was in a class and this guy asked me what was my label. i was just like wtf? i dont have one im myself. i think the only people that can be labeled are those who label.
i hate how when i skateboard people think I smoke weed and i got arrested for skateboarding because they thought I was littering. I don't like labels either. Great video btw.
I use to go school with Liberty Spikes and just a whole bad ass punk attire lol It was awesome lol but nobody knew what the hell I was! one kid was like "Wait are you Goth? no no wait are you in Theater? What are trying to be?" he literally said that ah I miss high school lol
The people at my school say I'm goth because I paint my nails black, I have side swept bangs, and I like bmth. e_e oh yeah, some people say I'm scene too. All the kids at my school are super preppy. No "emo/scene/punk" at all. ALL preppiness.
Your video just basically made my night. I consider myself a very unique person also, Harry Potter is basically my favorite thing in the world, my music taste ranges from pop punk, to some metal. I also love anime, and spend too much time watching it. Your last little bit about heavy drinking, and how you respect teens that don't do that really made me happy too, since I'm one of those teenagers, and I love it. You're pretty inspiring, and would be good at speak off's. :P
i'm a mix of random stuff too. i like sparkely stuff, lollypops, symphonic gothic metal, pin wheels!!!, squirrels, wolves, mangos, chickadees, crows, winter, friends, drawing, my finger-puppet llama, backing, and i want to go to Russia!!! (and i'm not going there so i can drink my self to death...i don't ever plan on drinking.) also i have a wide range of friends. i have anything from gothic friends to chearleaders and nerds. :D
Ha, lot of the same shit happened to me. Untill about recently all I wore was black, not cause I was emo/goth/ect I just liked black. Even though I where alot of different stuff now some of my friends still call me by 'the Antichrist' which I don't really care too much, but I know exactly what you're talking about.
I hate that people think that just cause I'm a Greaser that I only talk about breaking the law, switchblades, cars, Elvis and James dean.although I am a little scatterbrained I do have meaningful conversations.
OMG yur freaking awesome! This is exactly how i feel! Just because i tend to wear alot of black, people think im emo, what ever that is. Its just a color people! I hate it people judge me and put me in a category. One time i wore one of those checkered wristbands you have on and a kid came up to me and called me a poser, i asked why and he said that i wasn't a skater or emo so i cant wear one, i was like what the hell? My English teacher does the exact same thing to me, lol.
im tired of fucking ignorant preppy people labeling people who wear black as emo and shit it is getting me pissed off. i like your videos, and black is hot from my point of view...
Sometimes grouping is bad, but it's needed because even though they may not define you as a whole or you as a person, it does label a certain aspect ABOUT you, and without labels and names to define behaviors and styles, life would be a mess.
For example, I'm a basketball player, I listen to metal, I dress like an "indie" kid in public, I'm obsessed with video games and making art. Can I be put into one of those categories as a whole? No, but I do fit a certain aspect OF all those stereotypes.
Speaking of stereotypes..I hate the fact that people expect that Since I'm black I like watermelon, listen to rap and eat Fried chicken..first of all i hate watermelon. yea i like fried chicken but people shouldnt just assume that because of my skin color. And I listen to rap but thats not all i listen to. I listen to nirvana all the time and listen to all sorts of different music. Keep making your awsome videos
@ljthedude3 And don't forget the Kool Aid! People always say black people love it, especially grape. Well I like watermelon, fried chicken, AND grape kool aid and I'm not black so.... yeah... idk where else I was going with that lol.
and the way you're acting like you don't love the attention you get for the way you consciously make yourself look really gets my goat. you love it so much that you're taking it to the next step and making videos to tell more even more fucking people, who would otherwise never see you in your entire life, how much you hate it. and you can't tell people to mind their own bees wax when you're the one bothering their eye balls in the first place, you silly goose
this video is horrifically devoid of insight. you're just listing things you like, and if you remember the fucking day you started wearing black clothes, it appears completely disingenuous. and a person who wears black, loves metal, and enjoys a nice horror mystery novel now and again is a subscriber to gothic culture. saying you own a yellow shirt is like a racist saying he has a black friend. if you don't like the social implications of the word "goth", stop actively looking like one
@UtubePhuckinSux Well you seem aware of a lot of things going on in the world and you take interest in other things like playing guitar and the things you talk about in your videos. It's not like that's your whole life. That's kind of what I meant in the video. People that don't really care about anything at all and do drugs every day, multiple times a day.
Shut up emo.. Nah I kiid, all in all, stereotypes are mostly a form of humor, everyone loves to hate the emo kid, or that goth guy. Its similar to stereotypes of the French, Jews, American, German and so on, they are funny because of the context.
The things that I hate is when people can't see the difference between a nerd and a geek.
honey, i dress a lot like you, and if youre going to dress like that, youre dressing like that because you like that style. youre trying to fit in with a certain group... i listen to music from all sorts of eras and all sorts of genres, but i like the goth/punk style. i know youre going to respond saying, "dont label me!" or something like that but youre the one setting your self up for it. if you are going to dress like that, be able to except criticism without whining. you dont see me ranting.
@ACDCwarmachine But you see, I have a lot of different things in my wardrobe. It's not all that style. I have a few vintage pieces, some oriental ones, shirts that are quite colorful. I just havent made any videos in them. Even when I wear that stuff people still label me. And I'm not whining, I'm just saying that to put a label on someone is pointless and honestly just stupid.
I agree, I'm a pretty unique person, but that's what makes me a bit popular at my school. Most of the people there are the wannabe gangsta types, "Jersey Shore" preps or scene kids, with a low amount of metal heads like yours truly. A few of them are posers, however, only listening to the stuff on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, with little knowledge of said bands.
Like I said, you and I are on the same boat about being who we are. I still watch old cartoons while others watch this MTV crap.
@theperfectone121212 I sometimes watch some MTV when I get extremely bored just to laugh at how stupid the people are lol. But yeah old cartoons are the best!
@theperfectone121212 why are cartoons somehow better than MTV? on what grounds is that comparison even based on? and how are you better than other people just because you've subscribed to a less popular culture? a lesser amount of people caring about something doesn't make whatever that something is a rare, valuable treasure. anybody can have it. it's just that no one wants it. how on earth are you actually 27 years old? every aspect of this web page really fucking bugs me
The fact that you just went against your agreement with the rant and just summed up your whole school and the creator of this video with stereotypes, WHILE defining their worth with their appearance and interests says a hell of a lot more about you then it does about them.
EVERYONE is "their own person", regardless of what kind of style or behavior that they choose to lean towards more. Sorry, but you're on the same boat as everyone else, which is the only boat in the sea.
@splintercellfan2007 That's what I meant. Doing it in moderation is okay (still not my type of thing, but for others) but I was talking about frequently. And like I said, I do have friends that are into some of that stuff but they don't do it every day.
I had that same problem in high school myself. I was a huge comic book fan so a lot of people called me the "comic book nerd" or the usual "lame", but I didn't let that bother me. I kept being me. So just keep being you and fuck what everybody else thinks of you
I went to work for this one place an the lady there said I had to cut my hair so I asked why and she said that only girls could have long hair. This lady had shot hair that was dyed maroon and she looked like Sharon osbourn
lol "the Devil" jk. Long hiar is awsome! I want long hair :( n sterotypes arnt always bad. think about black men, they never denounce the whole having a big "thng". lol. But agree on the first 2 minutes but dressin certain ways help make frnds wit commen intrests.
some kid asked if I was goth for wearing a metallica shirt. Yeah, I'm goth, you got me. I have short hair, baggy pants, dont wear eyeliner, etc. sometimes kids think I'm the kind of person that's always drunk and high and shit. It gets kind of annoying. So yeah, I see where you're oming from.
I know what you are talking about with the black thing. My chemistry teacher in high school and half the class even made jokes about me the whole class because I wore black. They even tried to get me to go a whole week without wearing a black shirt. I also have a few Heaven Shall Burn shirts, and that led people to assume I was the antichrist... Gotta love living in the bible belt...
Great rant, Stereotypes are BS!!!
