I lucked out on a used copy of "On the Shore of the Wide World" for $2. This is still my favorite car commercial to this day. It's too bad Pontiac went under. What an amazing car company. I'd rather Saturn had gone.
why the fuck has the Alias mix been taken off youtube and stuck on some shitty car ad. That song's amazing, been one of my favourite tunes for years :(
I can't recall ever seeing this spot. Sad. It's quite good. Sadly it didn't move enough vehicles, I guess. Would be interesting to find out what the last Pontiac spot was.
I remember being quite struck by the first commercial they put out, the one with the M83 song attached. Very good ad campaign. Sadly, my experience with an '89 Grand Prix makes it quite hard for me to give the product another shot, but that could change. The ad seriously gave me goosebumps first time I saw it, fantastic work.
I got confused where it's supposed to say, "an unmarked stretch of beach that's tied to your memory." Because it started playing the vocals backward or something?
Does anyone know that song in the newer Pontiac commercial (it's always played during college football games on ESPN)... anyways, it's hard to understand....but it goes something like "...bring it on back..." (?) male voice.....and the hair is driving down a windy road?
there is nothing rong with the new pontiac it called evolution learn to like it cuz there not going back!! GO PONTIAC GO P.S its 2007 dumb ass not 1980!!
Pontiac hasn't Built Excitement or anything remotely innovative or exciting since the Fiero, and now GM killed the real F-Bodies to replace them with Holdens and the Kappas. Pontiac used to be GM's flashy, exciting line... =(

Frankly, I think the credit for how awesome this song sounds goes to Alias. (Not to be confused with the 80s band.)
Look up Alias - Collected Remixes to find more of his remixes that sound like this.
If you're a fan of weirdly dark instumental hip-hop, have a listen to everything else that is also on the Anticon label.

Not sure from the description, but the other version of this commercial uses "Don't Save Us From The Flames" by M83.

Test drive a Vibe. Then look under the hood. Japanese co-designed or not, it's one of Pontiac's best.
Turtleproof 4 years ago 3
No. It is Pontiac's best BECAUSE it's Toyota co-designed.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that kersh4w.
