The knees to the head were more damaging because he didn't expect them. Much like a sucker punch you don't see it coming and you drop, but when you see it coming it barely phases you right. and those were good knees those would definately mess a person up.

The knees were coming straight down on to Renzo. Frank legs were elevated on the cage making the knees more devestating. A lot more impact at the angle, especially with the help of gravity. Not like the knees that are thrown if you were laying flat on your back. By the way, I'm a Shamrock fan and that was a very disappointing fight to see (on Frank's part). Knees to the head while on the ground have been a "no no" for years now. Frank should have known.
I like Frank, but him calling Cesar Gracie a "Gracie" is ridiculous...Cesar is about 40 and had no previous MMA fights...if Frank wants to talk about beating Gracies, he should be talking about Royce or Renzo or Rickson or get into PRIDE and fight Ryan Gracie(probably a good fight). Frank was too arrogant after the DQ, he knew he broke the rules. But I think a neutral doctor should have come into the ring and explained Renzo's condition.
Yeah I agree that Ralph and Ryan are better complete MMA fighters (Ryan especially has sick strikes) but I think they would match up with frank better than you think...Frank definitely showed against Renzo that he was past his prime but if you remember his fight with Tito, Tito did the same thing as Renzo and Frank beat him late in the match.
Ryan looked like he was a better fighter than Renzo because Pride matched him up with mostly cans. Obviously he had some striking skill and had alot of fire in him, but just watch him fight Saku and compare that with the Renzo/Saku fight. I think Renzo has earned his title as best MMA fighter in the Gracie clan. Ralph always looked good, but its hard to judge after the Gomi "fight"...
i am both a gracie and shamrock fan, but after watching this fight i lost all respect for Renzo gracie. His lack of courage and fear of losing bring the gracie name down. He should have continued his fight with Frank, but when he was told he would win via DQ he quit. that is not what a real fighter does.
