This must rank among the finest presentations it has been my privilege to view and listen to on YouTube. I cannot find words adequate to express how I feel on viewing this extraordinary post.
...Excellent video! I heard Lanza sing this song via recording almost fifty years ago. What a magnificant voice that thrilled me then when I was a twenty years old young man. It is no wonder that many are still thrilled by this tremendous voice.
Hi likekinds, i have replied to your last message to me, did you get it?Whilst listening to Mario Lanza here whom i have always loved, but have you listened to David Whtfield's Cara Mia? Your friend i hope James.
I love this song. I used to play it over and over again on my Cordovox (electric accordion). Very nice video..I really enjoyed watching it and listening to the lyrics. :D *****
This is a wonderful video compilation. You make me want to hop a plane to India so I can take a boat down the Ganges, walk the plains, and hike the mountains.
You should be in advertising, you have a gift for composition and could easily do wonders for the Indian tourism dept.
I was thoroughly impressed by your video, the superb quality you achieved with Lanza's song and even the comments. Thank you very much. I appreciate your effort.
Do you know when Mr. Lanza recorded this song and/or on what occasion?
Was it done just as a studio recording to be put on an album with other songs or did he sing it in a movie, theatrical production, on TV?
Sundar! Beautiful! I have loved this song since I was very small, and now I know why. You have created a masterpiece here -- thank you so much -- bahut bahut dhanyavad ~
Likekinds: The video you provided fits the lyrics like a glove. If there were other lyrics, were they all supportive of promoting India as a place of beauty? Your lyrics should be used with the song to promote tourism.
It has been a long time since I've heard other lyrics for Song Of India. To the best of my memory, no other lyrics speak of the beauty and diversity of India as well as these by Mr. Mercer.
I've loved this rendition by Mario Lanza since I was a teenager long ago and am glad to hear it on YouTube. Great photos to accompany the lyrics! Can you print the words to the song under "more info." Thanks!
I love this song!!! I was very fond of playing it on my accordion and played it often. This is the first time I've heard the lyrics (very nicely sung my Mario Lanza). Excellent video with beautiful photos! Thank you for posting this..I really enjoyed it! :)
You have just been introduced to one of the greatest recordings of all time.
The tune itself is from the opera 'Sadko', Which was completed by Rimsky-Korsakov in 1896
The lyrics are by Johnny Mercer and were published in 1953. Among Mercer's best known works are Autumn Leaves, That Old Black Magic, Moon River, Days Of wine And Roses, Fools Rush In... and the list goes on and on.

Several lyricists have written lyrics for Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Song of India'.
The lyrics posted here, are surely the most famous and were written by Johnny Mercer in 1953

Johnny Mercer was so versatile--he can write exotica ike this, or for that matter, toss of "Jubilation T. Cornpone" both with equal facility.
