It's the linux version. It's like the first one to come out. It was released with XP later on.

when i connected everything and installed my mouse goes to the bottom left corner and never moves away from it. i notice it stays on the bottom left but when i move the mouse on the screen or touchpad it moves to the right but then goes back to the left really fast. never goes up. any help?

FidoDido's touchscreens simply control mouse location and standard click events.

In my experiences, no. They are either "Your clicking or not" type of screens.

Like cody said, these are standard 'resistive' screens. It would be nice if Wacom released some sort of add on kit to make these screens pressure sensitive, but that would be much more expensive (probably add a good $50-100 to the current cost).

It would also be nice to see capacitive for multi-touch, which is built into the Windows 7 beta, which also runs really nice on a netbook like the Aspire.

if you did some research you'd realize most pen input devices don't respond to your finger. I hadn't noticed he was using a regular ball-point pen though for input. My mistake. And it's actually a mod i would do anyway. I've wanted a touch screen forever. You could log into your media center with remote desktop and control it with the touch screen. No reason to get hostile. People error.  This is a public site and swearing is frowned upon.

1) resistive - that's what this screen is. You can use either a finger OR anything else to touch it. Same as most touch phones other than the iPhone, which is...

2) capacitive - multiple input points at once, etc. You can not use just anything for input though. You need a special stylus, much like...

3) Wacom - used in high end tablet PCs, and Wacoms tablets from the low end Bamboo to the uber expensive Cintiq, both with multiple levels of pressure sensitivity for fine art.

have you seen the new models? This mod is no longer necessary. Two different manufacturers have produced them with touch screens that swivel around and lay back making them a tablet. Ultra cool.

Yep. I know that Gigabyte has had the M912 out but its not been released directly to N. America yet.

Asus also have both 9 and 10" convertible tablets due out this year, which I'm really looking forward to. I think that convertible netbooks are the perfect portable computer, good for both work applications, and as portable book/comic readers.

Google it, its a touchscreen film kit (i really wouldn't replace the screen) and you just need to solder 4 cables (USB) to an unused port within the aspire one
