Oh wow man, you got your work cut out. If it is any consolation people in the VW community have started with less. One of the really neat things abut yours is that not a lot of people are aware of the Type 82/E or Type 87's so you will get a lot of attention wherever you go. It's also kinda neat that you are starting with a basket case so the restoration zealots can't harp on you for altering an early car. I have a '63 that I would very much like to build similar to an 82/E, but newer.
