Much of Afghanistan has also been under the control of separate Tribal Leaders (racist gangs) for 1000's of years. Because of no infrastructure, real economy, valued currency and religion, the country is what can be called "stone age"! If the West needs to "Nation Build" Afghanistan (for major oil pipe lines & keeping terrorist training out), there should be dozen's & dozens of countries sharing the real blood, lives, time, work & full cost of this. @48alfaone They have moved forward great after the soviet union left. They prospered for a long time until the Taliban captured them and occupied them. And tell me what's wrong with their religion? Look at other countries with the same religion, are they not prospering? Look at countries like Turkey, Iran, and all the arab countries, they are all rich and developed. The only 2 countries that aren't developed are Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan because they are war-ravaged.

If the government gains control, then they can get proper defences against the Taliban, and the Taliban won't be able to retake Afghanistan. Ofcourse the troops in Afghanistan would have to stay there incase the Taliban try to retake Afghanistan.

However, our government is dedicated to providing assistance for people who cant afford an education to get one. The Canadian Forces are very disciplined in their procedures. I think it has to do with them being from a country that is so anti-war, mistakes are not tolerated by the Canadian public.
I don't mean to piss in anybody's coffee, but the soldier in the first part is asking for a sniper's bullet by making such large pointing gestures when directing his men. IMHO he should be using more discrete gestures or none at all. Another thing, if the troops yell "grenade" when throwing them, what do they say when one comes in? Well beside the typical expletives.
@Soap1O: Exactly. There is so little time when there is an incoming grenade that soldiers would say what comes to them instinctively. "Grenade" seems like the instinctive thing to say when it's incoming. So they shouldn't be yelling "grenade" when it is outgoing, unless thrown by Private Fumblefingers. But maybe they have a different system.
