  • i love the johnny depp comment. i so agree

  • 20 minutes that changed music? Are you having a laugh?? A great band who i have seen in concert and enjoyed greatly, but after 1979 they were a pop band, end of story!!!!

  • Just..WOW..

and to think that nowadays in the concerts you don't see many people enjoying the show because they are recording it on their cellphones..

  • No Body can touch the voice or performances that Freddie had and did....lots of good pretenders but no One can rival him!

  • Every time I watch Wembley, I get chills....going on 20 years.

  • but this was only 5 minutes :|

  • i remember watching this live, i was 14 , even at that young age i knew 1 thing , freddie mercury was fuckin brilliant .

  • Henry Rollins comment made me spit my drink out.

  • Comment removed

  • I remember watching this live. They blew everyone else out of the water. (I know that wasnt the purpose of the day.) There performance was truly awesome - for once, a proper use of the word.

  • This had to be completely memorable for Freddie as with the audience, one of the best concerts of the century.

  • one saturday afternoon full of lsd and marajuana watched live aid and queen blew me away, now thats wot i call music

  • what a queen

  • @jojowopper how much did Justin bieber paid you?

  • Freddie was soo sexy in this concert.

  • Something in Freddie made easy to get immediately engaged to his music, Probably the fact that he was easy going, he transmitted a feeling of honesty and simplicity for what he sang, and to everything he did in the scenery and maybe in all his life. Essentially , people loved Freddie and believed in him. Long live Freddie!

  • @karakorum2007 I agree, I was lucky enough to watch Queen grow as a band from their early days till the end with Freddie. Each album was always unique with at least 4 to 5 stand-out songs. They were always unique given the period in competing with other bands during their hayday in playing their version of arena rock, it was something really special and doesn't happen very often in music. Kind of like Nervana in the sense of their distinctive sound while not comparing the two in terms of style.

  • I remember reading that Geldof once said that Live Aid was "just an excuse to watch Freddie Mercury ponce around in front of the entire planet". :-)

  • Queen's 20-minutes are the reason you've never heard from the other bands ever since. Wait...who were the other bands? POINT MADE! Long live QUEEN!!!

  • asshole critics dont give them the recognition they deserve, to steal the show at an event like Live Aid sets you apart from other bands.

  • jojowoper go and die u retard

  • henry rollins is so fucking retarded.....

  • I remember giving birth to my first child, and then Freddy died about three weeks later. I was so damn sad. Freddy was awesome, and I was sad that she would never get to see him perform because of a friggin disease called AIDS. Please rest in peace and I know God loved you.

  • Freddy Mercury was born to be a rock star as surely as Prince Charles was born to be king.

  • What did they expect, this was Queen playing.Miss you guys.

  • @jojowopper shut up motherfucker. close your mouth.

  • @jojowopper he was bi not gay he had a girlfriend

  • @jojowopper you are so stupid freddie's lyrics surpass anything else written you apparently never listened to his music and only his music or lyrics otherwise you wouldnt say such dumb things

  • @jojowopper you mean like the ones you get

  • @jojowopper You'd know the feeling of a cock suckers cramp wouldn't you ;)?

  • Freddie clicked with the world, simple as that. Anyone who says they don't like the guy is hiding their blush behind their keyboard.

  • Didn't see this coming? Oh come, this is a quartet; a perfect team; a group who believes in their music. They thrive on live performances.

  • Rock'n Roll, i love deeply love you.

  • rip star

  • Looks so easy when he's doing it

  • Johnny depp could sooo do a movie based on freddie's life, lol.

  • @MizTypical Jon Cryer from 2 and a half men would make a good freddie

  • @MizTypical Sacha Baron Cohen is going to be Freddie in a movie in the next year or two

  • @Opiate664 Oh dear God no, I won't be able to watch it then. What a damned shame. I cannot stand that twat. What a fuck*ing idiot.

  • @MizTypical no way ever!!!

  • @MizTypical Nah it should be the Freddie Impersinator that got on the x factor.

  • @cutis1000 You are so lucky!

  • I was there. In the pit. What a day. Incredible performance.

  • @cutis1000 you luck sod... i just wished i could have been there old son! i was stuck in Germany at the time

  • Well at least it was someone who could hold their own. Probably the hardest gig he ever had mind you.

  • Who the hell had to come on after these guys?

  • @JohninRosc David Bowie. I feel sorry for him, having to come after a performance like that

  • i was in a bar in baker street. & never touched my beer for at least 20 mins.what a performance.best frontman ever.

  • @blue4everdave I was in the midst of the crowd at Wembley and OMG time stood still when Freddy was on stage

  • I could care less what the fucker from the Foo Fighters says anyway, He's a fucking AIDS denialist, the retard

  • Comment removed

  • I watched the Live Aid concert live back in 85 & also bought the DVD as soon as it became available. I still watch it from time to time & still enjoy it. After Status Quo kicked it off on the day with "Rocking All Over The World", then each group came on to entertain the crowd. Dire Straits came on & Mark Knopfler played "Sultans of Swing ".

But then Freddie & the Lads came running onto the stage & just took over the place - they were even clapping to radio ga ga over in the States.

  • @bentallpioneer That was because it was in Philadelphia (a Queen stronghold). If Live Aid been in Washington, DC the response would have been "ho-hum". Freddie and that douchebag boyfriend/manager of his Paul Prenter told the US rock radio guys to fuck themselves and be assholes and not tour America unless they had a Top 10 hit, FUCK FREDDIE! He was an excellent singer but was a fucking asshole of a person. Only reason people look back now is because he DIED YOUNG!

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster rofl, you Sir/are a troll. Show Us Your idea of a terrific performer. And fill us in on What your sad self Knows of Freddie's personality and Real life rofl. Back Your Shit up or Shut Up baby :)

  • @dbmagick I'm not a troll (not 3 feet tall nor deformed with rotted teeth). Queen had a chance to gain America back after its miscues, cheesy singles and Freddie and boyfriend Prenter being total fuckheads to the radio stations an Freddie REFUSED TO TOUR THE STATES UNLESS THEY HAD A TOP 10 HIT but most American rock fans said sayonara and moved on to other bands. When Freddie died, everyone looks back and say this was great when in fact, they were a shell of their 1973-81 selves.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster hmmm here's what I think of Washington, DC, PUKES with the likes of Reagan in office back at that time, fuck lol fuck him and washington

  • @hitcan79 Obama's worse. I'm disgraced to be an American now. The censorship crusade of the 1980s was started by Tipper Gore (a Liberal). Reagan was the only good President in my life. Carter, both Bushs, Clinton and THE LONG LEGGED MACK DADDY make me SICK. Freddie and that boyfriend/manager killed Queen's credibility with much of America (not counting L.A., Philly, Chicago, New York and Boston). America turned to Van Halen, Ozzy and Motley Crue after Queen made techno pop records.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster

Ah! I catch so much flack for loving Ronnie as a president. But he was a phenom along.

  • Um, how did we get a debate about god in a video about Queen? Can anyone find the connection?

  • @poofyfreddie Dont b a hater...

  • Wow! Those are the only words that I can summon every single time I watch Queen's performance at Live Aid, and believe me I have watched this performance many, many times.

I have been to concerts and I have watched hundreds of concerts replayed on Mtv, VH1 classic, and YouTube. This performance is the most energetic, responsive, and electric I have ever seen.

  • I can't believe David Bowie (Who played after Queen) had a song from his performance remembered, "Heroes".

  • 9 dislikes WTF!

  • Shivers down my spine!

  • Thanks

  • what a soul, we really miss you.

  • 27 years later now... still the greatest live performance

  • and that also changed my life 23 years later...when i first saw this beautiful creature on youtube...

  • we should learn about queen at school in history

  • The best lyrics about modern music: 1:28 "We hardly need to use our ears

How music changes through the years"

  • @Kapiszczur Yeh but what is the thought behind that line?

  • Any one recognized that there was no light effects or anything of that sort, just pure performance!!

  • this is history

  • too bad it took till Live Aid for people to appreciate this band. they had me in '74 !! ROCK ON !!!

  • i love queen but 'radio ga ga' is not their best song and now , unfortunately we have " lady ga ga"

    poor freddie RIP

  • Well... someone once said that every man should have his 15 minutes of celebrity. Well Queen in twenty minutes made their immortal and memorable performance and made history of music. That day was a great day and I had the luck to be there also if in front of a tv. I'll never forget that day and the nergy they showed on stage.

  • It was all kind of ho-hum and well, business as usual till Freddie and Queen came up on-stage!

    Then all hell broke loose!

Let us remember this great man - RIP Freddie! We love you, and will always love you!

  • The fucker's power full voice.

  • i like queen but what did they change doing a concert i mean realy its just queen doing there normal thing

  • @slayermaster009 You had to see it. That's all that can be said.

  • i want that plectrum at 5.04

  • Why do people compare Freddy to God. God will never be better than Freddy

  • @TheThomas13 But God isn't a fucking queer. God and I were discussing this very thing while we were training the bench press early this morning. God takes a dim view of buggery most foul.

  • @Virtuosic1 No, God is a fucking hermaphrodite, I bet (s)he told you that too, right?

  • @zimzimzalabim God is most definitely not a hermaphrodite. We train every morning at Powerhouse Gym in Syosset so I can tell you firsthand.

  • @TheThomas13 because freddie is a god

  • queen is awesome!

  • massive man your dead and i care miss you man your music and that mike snare, eka the wrecker

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster I'm sure some of those artist's fans watched live aid & saw Queen stealing the show. Let's be honest though none of those bands or acts (no matter how good) stood a chance against Queen. Only the Beatles might have beat them not even the mighty zeppelin could dethrone them.

  • Queen are one of the only bands that I listen to that still give me goose-bumps; even more so when they play live, and the camera pans out across the audience who are in the palm of Freddie's hand. Simply staggering.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster Yeah I'd agree with most. I live in the USA & I'll admit that most of the bands you mentioned, while good, aren't up to par with queen so that's a bad comparison you're using. Also the USA is not the epicenter of the world, a lot of good things have come from other parts of the world & when it comes to music England's got the upper hand.

  • @fairyfellermaster England absolutely (plus Canada gave us Rush, Triumph, Saga, April Wine and many others). But the old saying back then was America was the biggest music market. Led Zeppelin were modest in England but in the States they were HUGE and toured there moreso than England. Also Judas Priest and Def Leppard had to go to the States to establish themselves as their native England (ironically) hated them (then kissed the asses of the bands after they had US success).

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster Queen's success in america deteriorated when they released i want to break free. Why? Because America was a Homophobic land, and to a large extent still is. And soon as they saw freddie in drag, the game was over for queen. All the bands you listed are, in comparison, "safe" generic rock bands, with simple and often very samey, cliche filled songs. Im a fan of Journey, and Foreigner... But Queen were in a league of there own.

  • That day Queen basically looked at U2, Madonna, Michael Jackson & all the biggest acts in the world & told them " I'm gonna take your fan, your fan & your fan & I'm gonna make them my fans"

  • @fairyfellermaster Michael Jackson didn't perform and neither did Pink Floyd (who were disbanded at that time thanks to Roger Waters' ego trip), Rush (who were recording Power Windows), Styx (who were disbanded thanks to Tommy Shaw being a drugged out fool who walked out on the band). Supertramp turned it down as well as Bruce Springsteen. AC/DC were on tour for Fly On the Wall and a few others turned it down.

  • @fairyfellermaster And he Did It!!! That incredible man Still Rocks them All :)

  • Came in as underdogs and killed them..no doubt!! People talk about "legends" being gone before their time..BS.. They/he was one of the biggest..Man what stage performance, vocals and crow interaction he always had. Legend

  • I get a chill watching this video. Thinking about his manager warning Freddie about what was to become later known as AIDS and Freddie casting misfortune to the wind. How to protect this guys life and nothing he could do about it. What a shame. BTW, love Henry Rollins appearing in this video. He always has something interesting to say...

  • This video brings it home, Freddie was and always will be No1.

If he couldent lift the crowd no one could!

He earnt his place in the music/rock history books and while there's music playing there will always be QUEEN!

    RIP FREDDIE! One fine man

  • He OWNS that crowd.

  • RIP Freddie...In "rock n roll heaven" with the other greats...

  • I wouldn't even call myself a fan of Queens music but its hard to deny that Freddie is one of if not the best frontman of all time

  • 4:43 i thought that freddie was going to smash the guitar, but it might have been a rental

  • Comment removed

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster u know why not the US??? becaus when freddy changed his style to tight jeans and that shirt is popilatity in us droped and the thing about him beeing gay ... americans are the bigest prejudiced ppl not to mention racist..... not cos of music as u sad!

  • @Sekirei89 Mainly the "Bible Belt" and "Dust Belts" hated Freddie's "refuse to tour America without a hit" disposition (those same rednecks loved Skynyrd and Allman Brothers) and also him sporting the Village People look snowballed Queen's demise. By 1985, Americans found new rock music heroes like Rush, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden (who filled arenas with ease), Ozzy (as a solo artist) but yet liked cross dressers like Twisted Sister, Ratt and WASP.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster Not impressed? I was at the Philadelphia concert...the place was going ape-shit. Would have been as big? Queen @250-300 million album sales. Pink Floyd @200 million. The Who @100 million.

  • @greenarcher180 Outside of Queen's strongholds (Philly was one, New York, Boston, Chicago and L.A. being the others), they fell on deaf ears. Freddie was an ass for refusing to tour the US unless they had a hit, well his dismissive vibe towards the States KILLED QUEEN! Queen's sales here in the US (according to the RIAA) are 32.5 million albums in the US (the 300 million is exaggerated), Pink Floyd (the fourth highest selling band in US history) are now at 75/76 million in the US.

  • @greenarcher180 It was reported shortly after in Australia - maybe 2 months . The sales of Queen product had increased by 600% since Live Aid. FACT

  • @greenarcher180 Queen's sales aren't 300 million albums. If you buy what Prickipedia say shows you are STUPID! The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Metallica, Van Halen, U2, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Guns and Roses, Santana, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Chicago, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and The Doors have all respectively outsold Queen in the States. If Freddie wasn't an asshole ignoring the US due to lack of hits, they'd be big!

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster they were big and apperantly he didnt care that much about sales non of the bands you listed had so many hit songs except perhaps the Beatles

  • @TheObelix876 I'm an album guy myself. I prefer albums to singles as I saw singles as a different business. I only bought best ofs if they were 2-CD with single mixes, unavailable elsewhere tracks and was comprehensive (Queen Greatest Hits I and II, Black Sabbath's Symptom Of the Universe, Genesis' Turn It On Again Tour Edition, The Who's Ultimate Collection, Pink Floyd's Echoes and The Beatles' Red and Blue albums).

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster He make a good thing. US aren't the center of the world, they can keep their shitty music for themself. Queen are the best forever

  • If Geldof thought that Queen would be one of the last bands to steal the show then why did he book them?? Underestimate much??

  • @Furkin44 Don't know - they were big many other places. Geldof literally had to turn down offers because of the time frame. Sad to say

  • Fucking crist there were ppl..

  • The cool thing about Queen's performance at Live Aid is that they did it without tricks, without make-up, without a light show or fancy costumes. They just came out and played their asses off. Or should it be "arses off"?

  • God gave Freddie Mercury a great gift in a Voice and tons of talent. That we can all respect. Forget about his sexual life. Yes its a sin, But remember GOD loves him and not the sin. Enough said. Respect Freddie and Queen. They gave us some good times and now great memories. Too any punk who is without sin please throw a stone at me.

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE You are a fool. There is no such thing as SIN and god is a fraud perpetuated on the ignorant masses by those in power whoever they are.

  • @zapkvr So you would be Ok if someone shot you to death or raped your wife? If there is NO sin then there is no Bad. Sin=BAD. Maybe I'm a fool, but I'm not stupid. And since there is NO God your no different than a Ant. The Ignorant masses are those who don't see how Religion is used to manipulate to hide Greed, War, coruption. There are differences on how people see or view religion in General.

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE Bit strong! But so right! Ban Religion End war!

(exept for the USA and their relentless unstoppable GREED for oil and power)

  • @MrGix69 lol come on now, we all know the USA isn't the only evil country on the planet. Give it a rest

  • @zeppelin67637 but Usa is in the firs place:))

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE You are an IDIOT. Morality exists for only one reason and that is because it confers an evolutionary advantage. God has nothing to do with it. For 98,000 years people lived perfectly happily without any knowledge of "God" It is only since then humanity has raced backwards.

  • @zapkvr Well when that day comes and your going to die. You will rethink about God, And lets see who the idiot really is. See idiots like you let the fake Christians tell you something different. That is why you don't believe in God.

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE No morons like you believe in some mythical sky fairy because you lack the grey matter to view the world based on evidence. Only children believe in Santa Claus you know, as adults we grow up. You just have bit left to do. On your death bed you will be just as alone as me you can count on it. Peace.

  • @zapkvr ....people do NOT die alone! Didn't you see Ghost?! Geeezzzz.....

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE Well you are a damned fool if you THINK I have been listening to any fake christians. I was a CATHOLIC for fifty years until I learned how stupid all you religious nutcases are. Peace.

  • @zapkvr What the bla bla are you talking about? Ninety eight thousand years without the knowledge of God? God has always been a part of man's mentality. At the first signs of symbolic language there has been evidence of God's. There has never been a time when man has lived perfectly happy? Man has always been a fighter, a killer even as they believe in God. We all have our right to believe as we please, some of us believe some of us don't... But you sure don't know much about man's past.

  • @KyanaMcCoy As for this BULL SHIT Doesn't matter where you look in the World, either in the past or present day, the main cause of any trouble can usually be traced back to some religion of some kind - don't need to look any further than Ireland for that.

To say we call ourselves the most intelligent species on the Planet we certainly follow some VERY primitive things don't we as the only proof that God ever even existed are nothing more than - WORDS IN A BOOK.!!!!!

  • @bentallpioneer wow just puke on everyone darling. Grow up a bit and You just might find yourself in Need of some kind of belief. Love the wanna be punks posting :)

  • @MegaELECTRICEYE Idiot evil exists because humans exist, sin exists only if God exists and he doesn't.

  • @zapkvr ....but zapkvr, God believes you exist. And He loves you more than you can know.

  • Has there ever been, or will there be a better band? God bless you Freddie, you were one in so many millions x

  • @jemsam17 bands like nirvana and cage the elephant are great because they support guys like freddie. cool ass, legendary homosexual =) im not gay but i sure as hell dont mind gay guys as long as they no their limits lol

  • @jemsam17 With all due respect - only ONE band could have eclipsed them but - - they had split - were not about to reform though one meber helped to Organize the gig. RIP George , John and Freddie . Queen were the best on the day though - though it was pure brilliance - and Zeppelin too wer amazing. Thanks for posting but thats my 2c worth . . I took video 500 miles to record Zep - and Skyhook singer said _" They rocked ) as Queen ended. Peter Australia

  • @eppeywonder Can that even be imagined??? If The Beatles ever wouldve done a "reunion" tour??? That wouldve been sold out with people crowding around the arenas and on rooftops, just to hear it...

  • @sithlords666 It would have had to have beemn linked to cinemas etc but that would have could have been an amazing thing . They had sorted their differences by then but it probably would have taken a super fusion like the Elvis posthumous tour - images of John singing with aud . Plastic O Band , George Ringo Paul and a few others.Yes - it could still have been amzing. Was anyway ."The Boss" almost cancelled gig on Dec 8 80 .,EJ in Oz played Imagine Queen did same. Peter

  • @jemsam17 The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin to name a few.

  • @jemsam17 Sorry, no millions but billions!

  • AWESOME QUEEN n LED ZEPP the biggest n still biggest day in ROCK HISTORY!!!!

  • Every entertainer's dream, to have that much power over such a huge crowd. What an incredible moment. There was no denying that audience's love for Freddie...and his for them.

  • ONE WORD - EPIC

  • I do, we didnt even have cell phones nack then

I was at my cottage neer Ottawa Canada and pulled my car into the back yard so we could listen to the stereo, wow..

  • ..What has someone's sexuality..or preference..have anything to do with the Music..I don't even care who they vote for..lol.What's the difference??..Freddie was brilliant..His voice was an instrument..as it should be..I saw them Live in Australia..1976?..and they were excellent..One of the few Bands who are as good,if not better 'Live'..I have been disappointed at a few Bands 'Live'..but not Queen..What a shame that Damn illness took so many great people..Legendary Band..:)

  • freddy reminds us of a young adolf hitler how he captivates the crowd

  • @IRONJOEPAWLOWSKI lmao...nutter lol

  • "Our Music changes through the years" sadly it does =( R.I.P Freddie

  • *Cries*God,why him?I miss him,and so does everyone else. You killed the King,Freddie. The one time a Band had no reason to break up,then, within a couple of days, its gone. And why?You can take away People like Mercury, but not justin bieber,or lady gaga,or modern day music?Really, how can you expect me to believe in god,If all he does is break someone's heart?Freddie,''I dont wanna die,''(Cause he had AIDS)Me,''I sometimes wish Id never been born at all.''(Cause Freddie's dead)We miss you,Freddie.

  • Whoever came on directly after them sure had a hard act to follow.

  • They were good in this concert. Led Zeppelin was dreadul. Madonna dreadful. Phil Collins dreadful. They only had American and UK bands and that is not the world.

  • @matveyx323 well those are the good and talented parts of the world anyway....

  • i dont know why but i cant take queen seriously when i hear thier songs at sporting events and such. stuff i cant listen to just to listen to.

  • this man in my opinion is the best singer of all time!few people could come close to the way he could carry a tune!
