  • who is headlining this show?

  • @joanceis IRON fuckin MAIDEN, bro! =)

  • shit hot.

  • Dio is totally Feeling this one-excellent post.thanks for this vid -this makes my heart hurt for him......RIP DIO

  • Rainbow Rising is THE God of all Albums

  • @Ramtough93 He i s soooo feeling this-I cant stop watching his performance here. RIP DIO...

  • The Mighty Stargazer!!!

  • 3 people have some sort of mental disorder that doesn't allow them to understand anything faster than wayne newton.

  • That solo... Just epic. I always thought Dio deserved a better guitarist, but damn... This may have change my mind.

  • DIO Nº1 y BLACKMORE Nº1, PERFECTOS LOS DOS, NO EXISTE NADA IGUAL. IMPRESIONANTE

  • We played with Dio in the early 70`s and he was just as awesome full of energy then. A home town hero of the Valley

  • Ronnie James Dio, Born:July 10,1942,;Died :May 16,2010Pretty damn good for a 60 yr old man.

  • Ronnie James Dio was Rob Halford (Judas Priest) favorite singer, and Dio call him "the inhuman voice", is great when the inhuman voice loves and admired the immortal voice of Dio...Long Live DIO!!!....I saw him 2 times in the Master Of The Moon tour and whit Black Sabbath (Heaven and Hell)...Thks Dio.

  • RIP Ronnie you fucking legend.

  • Damn solo was so good had people running for safety, this was a great performance

  • Dio said in some interview (it's on here somewhere) that he will 'never stop doing what he's doing', that he never wants to do anything else... Something to that effect.

That means, if he didn't die; he would still be rocking at 87 years old, even at 107 years old... if health would have allowed it.

    Think about that.

  • 7yrs later, we'd lose him. What a powerful voice at 60!!! DAMN!!! :)

  • I saw Dio with Heaven and Hell, just before they put out their awesome and sadly only record. Age did not affect the power and ferocity of that man's voice, it only seemed to strengthen it.

Also it needs to be said Craig Goldy (if that's who he's with onstage here) Did Blackmore's classic lead justice, which doesn't happen often with this song.

RIP Dio. No man could do what you did, and no one can replace you. A true metal legend.

  • lav gorca

  • There will never be another voice like this ever again. God bless you Ronnie...thanks for all you gave us.

  • He will never be forgotten because no other singer will ever come close to this!

And if I ever got children I'll take care that Ronnie and James will become Dio fans :-)

  • WOW, The Last In Line into Stargazer, epic as it comes! RIP Ronnie

  • i'm sick of being the bad guy for accepting that death is the end. i miss dio!!

  • Wow I swore at those bastards who walked across just like I was really there :)

  • R.I.P. DIO WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU !!!!!

  • thx ronnie

    we love you all

    you are the best

  • OMG I saw Dio in Montreal back in 1990 there wasn't much of a crowd but it was like a revivalist meeting the energy was outta this world and Dio kicked MF ass I think I wet my panties.

  • total......

  • Dio is dead...Now where do we go??? RIP...

  • R.I.P. my lovely Ronnie ...miss u

  • He was 61 back then. NO ONE CAN SING LIKE THAT IN THIS AGE! His voice was immortal. R.I.P. Ronnie \m/

    ''I see a rainbow rising...''

  • I was at this show. The sound quality was aweful. Made for a bad Mothorhead, Dio, Maiden bill just because the sound was so bad.

  • @ckac730 I was at that show too and i don"t remember that the sound was so bad...couldnt think of a better band to open for Maiden...

  • I hate to said it but i never listened Stargazer or A Light In Black live, always Man On The Silver Mountain Or Long Live R'n'R. but maybe in the other life. Happy birthday Ronnie! (10th july), i miss him so much.

  • I will miss you man. but your voice will remain forever my friend

  • Rest in peace Dio I will miss you man, but Your voice will remain forever !!!!!

  • RIP big brother

  • the best voice ever-THE KING

  • @666theseventhson

No Ozzy is the king.......Dio is the God..

  • @chainaguer nooooooo way just no way DIO IS THE KING AND THE GOD TOO no one has his voice

  • if i leave a legacy behind an eighth of the one ronnie left behind, i will be a very lucky man, R.I.P Ronnie...............WE ROCK?......NO SIR.....YOU ROCK!! \m/ \m/

  • now you´re a RAINBOW

    ......my eye´s are bleeding

    .....i see a rainbow raising

    EPIC FOREVER

  • Saw him last year in Wacken with Heaven and Hell...the little big magician catched the rainbow and went to the temple of the king. Thanks for all the gorgeous music you gave us and rest in peace, Ronnie !!!

    From Germany

  • EASILY and by a mile,THE greatest ,most powerful metal singer EVER!

  • Que gran canción, la escuchaba desde que tenia 9 años con mi madre que era fan de ese grupo. Descanse en paz DIO .... lo recordaremos por ejecuciones como esa.

Long life to Rock And Roll .... DIO we will miss you.......

  • WOW! Rest in peace, Ronnie!

  • so he is 61 y.o. here? God almighty...he must be singing well up there for Him!!

  • unfortunately the big black bell has tolled...RIP Ronnie thanks for the many years of great music. You are the true rock God

  • Ronnie, I will miss you badly. You are and will always be the best metal singer ever. I was honoured to see you live "so many times"...

  • My favorite Rainbow song. Thanks for everything, Ronnie! Never forget you.

  • Rest in Peace Ronny. We love you and will always throw up the horns in your memory for the amazing legacy of music you gave us.

  • I saw Ronnie with Rainbow in january 76 I think it was.....and was at this show in 2003.....he never lost it....sounded great in the bell centre

  • Great video. It's really a two guitar song, but that guy does alright with it. Woulda been Aldrich I think.

  • @mikey5time I think it is Goldy

  • dio despues de tantos años y sige cantando casi igual q bueno =)

  • Did Dio open for someone at this venue? The really sad thing about this is that the cloth hanging behind the drumkit means that it looks like Dio opened for another band. Most bands that play any kind of metal at all owe an enormous debt to Ronnie for pioneering not only metal, but the content of the song as well. Listen to that voice and tell me it doesnt make you feel like you're part of this kick ass army of warriors, armed to the teeth standing side by side against demons. Long live Dio.

  • @thebishop72 I was at this show....he opened for Iron Maiden......Motorhead was on before him...then he did 45 minutes.....he sounded great.....

  • @WrathchildNH

I was also there. This was one of the first metal shows I had attended and is still one of the best I have seen. RIP Dio

  • @thebishop72

I believe it was Iron maiden. I saw the tour here in the states....Maiden, Dio & Motorhead. It was incredible. After Dio's set...the audience chanted his name for about 10 minutes. Maiden had a hard time following that! The man may be gone, but legends never die.

  • miss blackmore's guitar work

  • GREAT DIO!!!!!!

  • People getting older get off. quit. just disappear. Dio get even better singer. unhuman! i'm crossing my thingers for him..

  • This song is great it doesn´t matter how old it is! It sound so fresh and powerful! Long Live Stargazer!

  • Ronnie James Dio still a great singer...and here in 2003 was 60 years old and performing and doing justice to the brilliant 'Stargazer'..........

  • Dio rules totally!!! Two horns up!

  • old time Rainbow =awesome songs \m/\m/

  • I love that song since I was 15, thus some 35 years ago... It still stands as strong as it did then, and it still give me shivers down my spine... It was the Rainbow "Rising" album that opened for me the gate of rock, hardrock, metal, etc... I was like blown away when I first heard it, with everything in its right place... Or was I simply injected with it :D..? Don't know, because I never got rid of it ;)...

For Dio: keep it up man..!

  • Awesome! I especially like the part at 1:57

  • Only singer to do this song justice :) loving it

  • i love him.that`S ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

    good luck to you,ronnie.

  • hail the greatest singer in the world, only three singers from the 70s are as good if not better than they where .dio . hughes. halford, the rest are not the same . long live dio. i love him

  • DIO rules, but this dude playin guit is way lacking in the "awesome" department.

  • AWESOME! Just AWESOME!!!

  • c'mon! you can't compare Diary of a Working Man and Stargazer. 2 different genre and 2 different vibes. Stargazer is an out-of this-world song wheras Diary... is a good song but doesn't bring you into another dimension as Stargazer does.

  • great video. i think dio needs to eat a sandwich though, he's looking more frail every year.

  • He has stomach cancer (early stages) so thats why he probably looks so frail. Still a bloody great voice though.

  • Well Craig owns part of this, fantastic solo but TMIB is the best but Craig got the closest lol!

  • Perfect !

  • This guy really nailed, it is very-very close to the original, unbeliviable...

  • I am glad I got to be there, but I was off to the side and the sound system wasn't loud.

  • I don't know why people don't like him, there are times he is off but this just proves he can do it right.

  • FUCKIN BADASS

  • Amazing Craig! he nailed the solo of the LEGEND RB forever!

  • along the years still sound like the firts time yeah i believe i believe.

  • I'm not keen on Craig Goldy...but he nails the solo!!

  • RB would tell you: "horseshit"

I'd tell you: somewhat close but no fireworks. He follows the general line of RB's solo. The fact is that no one can immitate RB's picking style as THAT alone made his guitar sound the way it did. Plus his left hand technique is so unique that even if you try to copy it, you simply can't. You might get close but never all the way. Not even S. Morse, whom I dearly love. And he gets probably the closest. Simply said, there's only one Blackmoore, and that's it, dude

  • @micanut48 of course man cause' he's not TMIB.....but don't get me wrong he gave justice to the solo....he sound metal yes because of the change in time...... a cover is a cover.......not an absolute copy..peace out dude

  • i'd go bananas if I had been there. Probably the most powerfull song ever writen.

  • I rate it as one of the best songs ever. However, the best song ever in my opinion is "Diary of A Working Man" by Blackfoot (Marauder album). I think the riff in that song and the way it culminates (the story sounds very, very real) is even better than Stargazer - and I really like Stargazer. Why? After a few listens, Stargazer starts to bore. It CAN get on your nerves. Not so with Blackfoot's track. It is fundamentally rawer thanks to its brutal love story and how it was captured by the band.

  • RITCHIE BLACKMORE - Guitar Maestro / Guitar Virtuoso / Great Guitar Solo Forever!!

RONNIE JAMES DIO - Great & Powerful Vocalist ever!!

COZY POWELL - Powerful & Explosive Drummer ever!!

JIMMY BAIN & TONY CAREY - Great Rainbow's Musician ever!!

Thanks to DIO & THE BAND for this Song Stargazer!!

Brilliant Solo by d guitarist!! for keep close to Mr Blackmore's solo!!

  • STARGAZER - Great Song ever written!!

RAINBOW RISING - Great Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Album ever produced!!

RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW - Master Class Great Band - The Only One in the World ever!!

  • I am assuming you are trying to say GREATEST...

  • Ronnie is the man

  • WOW Dio's voice is so powerful in this song , together with mystical text - the best song of Rainbow ever.

  • EYES OF THE WORLD,MAKING LOVE,DANGER ZONE,SPOTLIGHT KID,FREEDOM FIGHTER,DIFFICULT TO CURE,WEIS HEIM,TEARIN OUT MY HEART,MAYBE NEXT TIME,MISS MISTREATED,STONE COLD,EYES OF FIRE,STRANDED,DESPERATE HEART,SNOWMAN ETC ETC

    ARE YOU SERIOUS?

THERE WERE QUITE A FEW DUFF TRACKS ON THE FIRST THREE RAINBOW ALBUMS TOO!

IF YOU DON'T LIKE ROCK AND ROLL,DO YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES,SENSITIVE TO LIGHT FOR EXAMPLE!

RITCHIE INSPIRED DIO TO WRITE THE WAY HE DID,LISTEN TO STORMBRINGER,THEN LISTEN TO THE ELF ALBUMS!

  • @jonnyrainbow1 ELF's Pre Rainbow songs that sound like Rainbow... Wonderworld, Driftin,

Listen to Blackmore's Night and tell me it doesn't sound like Elf-lol... your point again?

I'm sure Ritchie had some influence, but he wasn't even close to being THE influence. If you still don't believe me then listen to Black Sabbath with and without Dio (before and after). Sabbath fell apart just like Rainbow did after Ronnie left. Digital Bitch, Seventh Star WTF?!

  • @Freedomquest08

I LISTENED TO THE TRACKS YOU MENTIONED. YES THEY ARE THE BETTER TRACKS ON THE ELF ALBUMS BUT THEY SOUND NOTHING LIKE RAINBOW.

MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN,TEMPLE OF THE KING,CATCH THE RAINBOW,EVEN SIXTEENTH CENTURY GREENSLEEVES,STILL I'M SAD COULD HAVE ALL BEEN ON STORMBRINGER,AND WHAT AN ALBUM THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN-OBVIOUSLY RITCHIE KEPT THEM BACK FOR HIS SOLO ALBUM BECAUSE THE OTHERS DIDN'T LIKE THAT STYLE. THEY DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO RECORD 'SOLDIER OF FORTUNE'!

  • HEAVEN AND HELL WAS A GREAT ALBUM-NOTHING LIKE BLACK SABBATH-IT SOUNDED JUST LIKE RAINBOW.

THE BEST TRACKS WERE ALL VERY RAINBOW LIKE. NEON NIGHTS,HEAVEN AND HELL,DIE YOUNG AND LONELY IS THE WORLD. BUT RONNIE HAD ALREADY RECORDED 3 ALBUMS WITH RITCHIE-MY POINT!!

THE ONLY SONG ON THE FIRST ALBUM THAT SOUNDED REMOTELY ELF LIKE WAS IF YOU DONT LIKE ROCK N ROLL!

BLACKMORES NIGHT SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE ELF!

RENAISSANCE,FOLK,CLASSICAL,ETHNIC,ROCK-ALL RITCHIE'S INFLUENCES THROUGH THE YEARS.

  • @Freedomquest08 Are we arguing over which one of Dios bands were best? or what were the best songs? Because, they were all excellent, regardless......the bottom line is Dio Rocked his arss off , and he was better than the other vocalists that replaced him after he left bs and rainbow. RIP DIO you are a Master Entitiy....

  • @crowbar0404 No, this johnnyrainbow guy thinks Ritchie Blackmore was who taught Ronnie his songwriting style, and this was the point of our disagreement. I'm with you...I have most all of Ronnie's stuff that's out there from his doo wop days on, and Dio's worst songs are better than most bands best. I can listen to any group out there, then pop in a Dio/Dio-Rainbow/Dio-Sabbath CD and it's a night and day difference! No-one will ever replace Ronnie James Dio \m/ \m/

  • @jonnyrainbow1

I LISTENED AND THEY ARE THE BETTER SONGS FROM ELF BUT THEY SOUND NOTHING LIKE RAINBOW,

MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN,SXTEENTH CENTURY GREENSLEEVES,TEMPLE OF THE KING,CATCH THE RAINBOW,STILL I'M SAD WOULD HAVE ALL FITTED ONTO STORMBRINGER. HE OBVIOUSLY KEPT THEM BACK FOR HIS SOLO ALBUM-HE RECORDED IT WHILE HE WAS STILL IN DEEP PURPLE.

THE OTHERS DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO RECORD SOLDIER OF FORTUNE!

  • STORMBRINGER,MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN,SIXTEENTH CENTURY GREENSLEEVES,TEMPLE OF THE KING,CATCH THE RAINBOW,THE GYPSY,STILL I'M SAD,SOLDIER OF FORTUNE!

WHAT AN ALBUM THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!!

  • @jonnyrainbow1 I agree that Soldier Of Fortune sounds a lot like a Dio song and could very easily fit on a Rainbow album. Elf was touring with DP during these years, so it's hard to say who wrote or inspired what.

Ritchie has a unique talent at songwriting as did Ronnie. Who did what doesn't really matter. I consider each the very best at what they did. I'm a DP fan as well. The biggest DP crime was not to include 'When a Blind Man Cries' on a studio album.

  • Dio has kept this song still brilliant without cozy and ritchie.

  • cant wait to hear Dream Theaters cover!!! on their new album!!!

  • Dio is old man now...but the Voice is the same of best time...AWESOME Singer! This song is incredible!

  • DIO N1 metal singer ever!!

But Blackmore is the real genius of Rainbow!

    RESPECT DIO

  • @Karabas1977 Blackmore is a genius, so was RJDIO. Together they were magic. When Ronnie left Rainbow, the band never even touched the level they had with Ronnie. I always hoped Rainbow would tour once again with Rithie and Ronnie, sadly that will never happen again. Rainbow was the last band I really wanted to see live, all my other favourites I've seen, some more then once. Rest in peace, Ronnie, your legacy will never die!!!!!

  • @karpervisser666 dude its just too bad cozy died when he did they were planning a reunion record/tour when he got killed in that car crash and that was it

  • @Karabas1977 Blackmore was the brain behind Rainbow left, but without Ronnie helping on lyrics and his bewitching charisma Rainbow falls slowly into puddle of nothingness.

  • @NerdWerld I purchased a best of Rainbow album a year ago. It was 2 disk set. The first had Dio, the second, did not. I was so captivated by Rainbow when I heard it that I wanted to give every song a chance, with an open mind. Everytime I listened to the second disk, my soul slipped further and further into a raging inferno or torment and suffering that one day while driving home I had to pull over, rip the disk out, step out of my car and curb stomp that disgrace.

  • @Negativions / That is some funny shit! Rainbow without Ronnie was one disgraceful FM radio joke!

  • Saw them at Madison Sq Garden on 2003 with Motorhead and Maiden - what a night!

  • Man alive! i'd pay top dollar to get the video of this song on Dvd, no doubt about it!!. Love the sound C. Goldy uses for a modern "metallic" sounding version of this incredibly magical song w/ a lyric based on an Old Testament account of the Tower of Babel. Saw Ronnie and the boyz open up for Iron Maiden at the FNBA in Tinley Park for the "Killing the Dragon" tour and they simply kicked all sorts of bad ass on stage. True, Rainbow wasn't much of anything without Ronnie J.D!

  • when i saw this song , i was mad , like wtf he singing without dio fuck , it`s not the same thing , but he still rocking , i want to see them in montreal

  • ?? at that date he was 61 years old, but his colour voice was almost the same, altough depends in what par of the tour he was. But with a rest voice he was almost the same until 2006 I think

watch?v=ktxfPAXpVBQ look this is from a year later and sing way better

watch?v=hvvjiE4AdUI from 2006 (test his voice)

    watch?v=C1_b5tJ1SoY from 2000

Hes an inmortal elf with no age

  • Exactly mnunezper, he is ;) \m/

  • I didn't think I'd enjoy that without Blackmore. But by god, that was amazing.

Ronnies voice was increadable in the 70's. He hasn't lost lost it.

  • The true voice of Metal.

He made Rainbow. Without him, Rainbow sucked

  • true true

  • I ,see a rainbow rising, chills down the spine classic.

  • Ronnie is God... stargazer ever was my rainbow´s favorite song! Oh Shit! SHit!

  • STARGAZER...arguably Rainbow's signature track. A joy for fans to still see and hear it performed live.

  • DIO is simply genius, the best!!!

  • \,,/ \,,/

  • long live dio a true legend i cant imagine heavy metal without his presence not to many singers have accomplished what he has and at 66 years old still sounding amazing that proves dio is king long live dio and metal /,,/

  • Long live Ronnie James Dio!!!!!

  • absolutely amazing another great version of the song rock on !

  • LONG LIVE dio

  • DIO!!!
