Those tires only had 500 miles on them when I turned up to the course! Brnd new summer performance tires (Yokohama AVID W4S)
Yeah, I missed 2nd a couple of times. My problem seemed to be that I was grabbing the gear too quickly and letting the clutch out too early.

About 85mph max on the straight... :-)
