  • <3 __________________ <3 Cuteness overload :D

  • Me and my boyfriend have 2 rats, i want a dumbo rat sooo bad <3

  • So many rats!!!

  • There so cute! I have 4 regular ratties. A boy (Jona) and a girl (Oli) then they had babies (18 of them) I kept 2 of the boys (Eirik and Cazper) I love them! BEST PETS EVER! I love the way Dumbo rats look! i want one! :) I love there ears haha

  • rats!

  • In first,, you put them outside?!

    And in that little cage??

  • what age can the babies be around the dad?

  • THIS CAGE IS TOO SMALL !!!

    WHY ?!

  • They're 3 and a 1/2 weeks old, this would have been the mums nesting cage where she would have been separated from the rest of the group to be on her own and have the kits. nesting cages are small otherwise the tiny babies could fall or get separated from the mum and die, they stay in small cages till about 5-6 weeks, then they get sold and sorted into bigger cages. the breeder is doing the right thing and it's only temporary.

  • Hoppers! ('Cuz they hop at that age. XD)

  • Why such a S M A L L cage???

  • iu have two dumbo rats 1 male one female i just got them to day and i own a snake lol how much are dumbo rats cost for the price

  • Aww..I think I just had a cuteness overload!

  • How about don't breed? there are heaps of rats out there needing homes, what would you do with 20+ pups, how would you feel if you know someone brought them and didn't care for them and it's your fault for bringing them into this world where they aren't happy.

  • You must have missed the part where i discouraged "backyard breeding". I got the mother not realizing she was pregnant. But thanks anyway for the criticism.

  • I was Replying to the post asking weither to breed her dumbo's or not!! I wasn't commenting on you. thanks

  • Its okay, people just come on Youtube to bitch about things they have no control over so it seems like they are doing something productive. Its all just a big delusion.

  • @RadRatsRattery MY friend adopted 4 rats from shelter (all girls) now she haslike 18 rats

and i have one of them

  • @RadRatsRattery im calling you a bitch on a two year old comment...bitch

  • @mars8254 LOL

  • @RadRatsRattery How about this who cares and I will breed all I want and if someone bought them and didnt care them not my fault

  • I have 2 dumbo girls, and I really want to breed at least one them when they are old enough. But I can't find a male dumbo stud kinda thing. And I don't have another cage. And also I have a non-breeding contract from the breeder I bought them from. What should I do?

  • I have two answers, but I can only leave a short message here so I will message you the entire thing. The first is to take proper steps to become a certified breeder, don't backyard breed. The second is that you signed a contract. Stick to your word and honor it. Don't breed them.

  • it does not matter just find a stadered rat and breed them there babys well at least 45 percent well be dumbo rats

  • respect the contract you signed

dumbo rats are actually the result of a cranial deformity rather than a 'type' of rat. Dumbo rats can have problems because the deformity can effect their hearing and breathing...it would be like if someone was breeding humans and they liked the club foot or cleft lip/palate look so only bred humans that had that defect to get more and more humans with club foot or cleft lip/palate

  • Dumbo rats are the result of a genetic mutation that has just been passed on through breeding. There are really not too many health risks. Its the exact same thing as breeding dogs to have certain features like pug noses and floppy ears.

  • yes, you are right. and just like pug nosed dogs can have breathing problems and floppy eared dogs can have increased liklihood of ear infection then dumbo rats can have hearing and breathing problems - as research shows. This does not deter people from having these types of animals as it does increase their 'cuteness' appeal for some pet owners

I like the cuteness of dumbo eared rats. We dont have them in Aust, and if we did Id think twice anyway due to certain problem characteristics involved

  • What kind of problems exactly?

  • Dumbo eared rats do not have any more faults then standard ear rats.

  • @sehryn, Thats Not true .-.

  • @wendyXpeggyXpancho

if you think that then you havent read the research

  • @sehryn, Its just the ear placement -.-

  • how about...dont breed them! there are enough homeless rats in the world, im sick of people breeding them just cuz they feel like it, not because they actually have any kind of understanding of breeding or genetics

  • @sammyJpeppers4 how bout go get 2 other rats . i know a place where they sell dumbo rats, plus, my dumbo rat just gave birth yesterday

  • dumbo rats are the greatest things in the universe!!! i am absolutely in lurve with them! <3

  • aww, cute fuzzlets. <3

  • Wow, all dumbos? I didn't know that happened!

  • It's easy, just have a dumbo mother and a dumbo father. Viola! all dumbos!

  • yeah, you're welcome...
