what do you think about this. a radiant heated floor using compost to heat the water. with a small 12v or 24v pump to push the water. compost piles can get around 160 degrees.
Doug, quick and dirty hot water heater idea, find an old car rad, paint it up black and aim the lens to it (not center point focus of course). Couple of hoses on either end and voila, easy pool heater. For those colder sunny days, put another rad on the other end of the hose with a small 12V fan. Voila, hot water space heater rad. Of course that project would require to be closed looped with a little water pump.
3 degrees of freedom - nice. You can position that to catch the sun no matter where it is in the sky. I wonder what you have in mind for that lens.
Is that granite tough enough to withstand a focused beam of light from that size lens? If you haven't tried, don't do so on my account - don't want you to mess it up. That granite top looks like a great solid working surface for your experiments.
I bet you can do some cookin with that setup. nice job!!! I just bought some lawn lamps for 3 bucks each just for the solar cells. I plan on building a solar powered tracker. I love the sturdy construction and easy movement of your design. Truly a great mind at work.
