  • One of Bach's Jazzy fugues :-)

  • i like this music

  • One of the first fugues he wrote, isn't it? I wonder if musicologists know which one of his surviving works is truely the oldest.

  • one organ player tryed to play this but he broked his fingers : (

  • What a glorious fugue! I especially marvelled at the D major seventh chord (played as an arpeggio here) over the G pedal point five bars from the end. Stunning stuff. Thanks again, Daniel.

  • @NPorganist Thanks for calling our attention to the "D major seventh chord (played as an arpeggio here) over the G pedal point five bars from the end." These kind of observations are so valuable. Much appreciated.

  • @NPorganist I'm sorry, I may be wrong, but isn't that a dominant seventh (with C) instead of major seventh (should be C#)?

  • @squigglycircle

Hi, there! I think there's more chance I'm wrong on that chord. My musical theory is getting very rusty now and I lost my books on harmony some years ago. The F sharp in the left hand threw me, coupled with the C natural in the right. But the chord of D major seventh indeed sounds wrong when played against the pedal point of G. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

  • Ganzo soggetto.

  • @toxiconegro be careful!! you might end up feeling way to excited emotionally lol :D

  • I don't know if it is my PC, but the score is not perfectly synchronized with the music, the pages are turning half bar before they should. Anyway, this is such an amazing composition, and it has such an interesting theme with these octave leaps!

  • @gilbertoagostinho

No, your PC is okay don't worry ;-)

The problem is caused by YouTube's video conversion they made a few months ago. The quality of some of my older videos have been corrupted by these conversions. In addition to that I don't have the original wmv. files anymore so that means that I have no other choice but to redo all these vids. I hope you'll understand that I'm not willing to do so. Sorry for that but I'm glad that you like them anyway.

  • @toxiconegro I just viewed this video "J.S. Bach - BWV 531 - Fuga C-dur / C Major" and read the comment by gilbertoagostinho. I understand the dismay . However my reaction is the opposite. I read music, and very much enjoy noodling on the keyboard along with these score videos. Those of us who read are at least a half or a full measure ahead with our eyes. Score videos that flip on the exact moment of the last note make it impossible to prepare for the next page. How are theses made?

  • I recommend it, somehow even the coffee tastes better!!! Just make sure I don't run out of Bach music videos to watch and listen to that divine melody:)

  • Enjoyed it as always with my morning coffee at the office, just wonderful!!!
