  • This poem is actually one of my favourites by Hopkins, however, though the poet used a strict rhyming scheme to restrict his display of emotion somewhat, there are indications of his grief. Thus, I feel this poem should be read slower and stressed on words, more emotionally rich.

  • @sibhsybabe Many thanks for stopping by, and for your comments. This poem has been one of my favorites (favourites) for a very long time. There's a chance my friend "Tom O'Bedlam" at the Spoken Verse channel has read this--and probably more in line with what you like--and he's British, so that helps, too. He has other poems by Hopkins there, however. Good luck.
